cussing: How did policymakers in Europe and the US take over their role in  establishing most needed pull incentives? Which new initiatives have been  started to further push forward innovations in antimicrobial therapies and  diagnostics? What updates can be provided by existing investors, funds and  accelerators? Which approaches investigators are developing to improve the  effi ciency of preclinical models as well  as clinical trial designs?

Perspective of SMEs The 2022 conference edition, hosted by  BIOCOM in cooperation with the European SME organisation BEAM Alliance,  will be the fi rst face-to-face meeting of  the AMR community in Europe for more  than two years. Together with other major stakeholders such as CARB-X, the  IMI AMR accelerator, the AMR Action

Fund, the Novo Repair Impact Fund and  others, the stakeholders will explore  further strategies to improve conditions  for companies developing novel antimicrobials or AMR diagnostics. A special  focus of the event is targeted to the perspective of innovative SMEs, their R&D  pipeline, requirements for regulation  and policy frameworks.

Improving clinical R&D In addition, the conference will be a  platform to discuss innovative strategies to improve preclinical R&D as  well as clinical trial designs. Among  the partners of the event will be the  EU-funded IMI AMR accelerator which  is organising its annual meeting as a  pre-conference event on 6 April. During  the  conference,  the  accelerator  will provide, among others, particular insights on UNITE4TB, a 7-year,  €185m new project aimed at changing the paradigm of clinical TB drug  development. In addition, the conference will highlight innovative strategies such as phage therapies, vaccines  and monoclonal antibodies, AI-driven  models and novel diagnostics. Among  the further highlights will be a startup competition, hosted by the pharmabacked incubator INCATE. Founders  are requested to apply until January  31, 2022. The Top Ten will qualify for a  pitch  during the conference.  L

Conference 2021 hit the mark: bio-based, CO2-based and recycled are  the only alternatives to fossil-based chemicals and materials. In 2022,  the conference will be held as a hybrid event in Cologne.

The  program  includes  a  diverse  range of bio-based materials such as  bio-based polymers, plastics and biocomposites (fi rst and second generation, biowaste), CO 2-based materials  (from fossil and biogenic point sources, atmosphere) as well as mechanically and chemically recycled materials. The innovation award “Renewable  Material of the Year” will showcase the  vast spectrum of renewable materials.  The most outstanding winning products will be chosen by the conference  participants and honoured at a festive  awards ceremony. End of fossil carbon GREETINGS  Readyto-use  fossil-free  sustainable  material solutions with a  low carbon footprint  are in fast-growing  demand. Innovative  brand  owners  are  keeping an eye out  for such solutions, in particular those  that will soon reach the mainstream.
