n all honesty, the Canberra fashion scene can be slow and predictable. In the main Civic Centre, fifty shades of grey isn’t an erotic novel, it’s the city’s main color palette during winter. Thankfully, throughout the grey, black and beige milky way of office workers, there shines a few emerging stars, who aren’t afraid to mix it up. Behind the city’s concrete walls, a community of designers, models, make-up artists and creatives are accumulating, and as a result, Canberra is slowly, but surely, turning into one hell off a trendy place to live. With the fash-pack steadily growing, popping up all around the city are a number of quaint yet quirky boutiques, allowing us local fashionistas to spread our wings and try something new. One of these boutiques goes by the name of Alice be Curious, run in the heart of the city by local fashion pioneer, Daniella Jukic. And you can trust me when I say Aliceʼs curiosity has definitely paid off. Supplying a range of clothes to suit most tastes, Daniella has honed her talents in buying the perfect combinations of quirky and cool, edgy and classic clothing.
Whilst raiding Daniella’s cosy boutique, our collaborative spring obsession bloomed, mixing the new with the old and the subtle with the bold, and stirring in vintage pieces with current season looks, and pastel colors with chunky leathers and chrome accessories. We wanted to taste test slices from key fashion eras, the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, to create multifaceted, texturally diverse and wearable looks. Having been lucky enough to access Daniella’s treasure trove, and get our hands on talented make-up artist Bernadette Cording, one of Canberra’s most experienced make-up artists, and fashion enthusiasts, we were able put together a few key looks we think will have a heavy presence throughout spring 2012. Luckily, for those who don’t live in Canberra, you can shop these latest trends online and find the supplied clothes available for purchase on Alice be Curious’s online store

rom the slums of Aguascalientes, to the chic streets of Paris and from the hustle and bustle of busy London to the nostalgic and ever peaceful country side of the Netherlands, I have found one thing in common: Beauty, in the most unexpected places. In five years, I have covered more of the World than I ever imagined I would in my lifetime. T hat’s the lifestyle that comes with being an international track cyclist. At the age of 22, events such as World Cups, World Championships and European road racing have taken me from my hometown, Perth, to more cities throughout the world than I can count. For the most part, the majority of my travelling experiences consist of cramped team hotels, days sweating it out in the velodrome or emergency landings on dodgy airplanes. T hen there are those magical moments, where I get to put the bike aside and experience the real world, understand other cultures and for the most part capture the beauty in places you won’t find in a travel brochure or online. Staying away from the main attractions as much as possible, I enjoy living in a place, rather than short stays and travel. In my experience, the best restaurants, shops or sights cannot be found along the most popular streets. Walk a little, follow your feet and explore side streets, alleyways and lanes.
T here you will find what it is you are looking for whether it is antiques, beautiful art galleries, boutique clothing stores or cafes and restaurants that will not only satisfy your taste buds but give you new perspective of the city. By looking into the weathered eyes of those standing behind their shop counter, and attempting to speak their language, I often find myself wondering what their story is. Where they grew up, how long they have been in their business to bring food to the table for their families, how much of the world they have seen. It brings a sense of appreciation, for the life we live in Australia, and our place in the world. At the end of a busy day in waiting lines and walking the streets of Paris, at night I escaped to the Montmartre with a home made salad and a bottle of wine. To sit on the grassy slopes below the Sacre Coeur with a picnic dinner, and watch the buskers entertain as the sunsets is a breath taking experience.

ow about something bold, beautiful and unique for your living room centerpiece? Let me guess, you’re thinking animal head mounts! That is a good idea, but this year, don’t opt for the whole animal head mount. Instead, think about Moose resin heads for your interior! What are resin head mounts? What Are Resin Animal Mounts? These refer to animal mounts that have been crafted, not stuffed. Bear in mind that in the art of taxidermy, often times the finished animal involves removing interior animal parts and preserving skin, antlers and other parts. The piece may also be made with glass, clay, epoxy and wax—especially for parts like the eyes, nose and mouth. However, resin heads do not actually contain any animal parts, interior, exterior or otherwise. All of the pieces are created using manmade materials. Life-size moose resin heads can be sculpted and crafted into a perfect head or bust using only a photo and precise animal measurements. Whereas some taxidermy products are made from actual antlers, resin products are made from polyurethane resin. These products are made from resins of varying quality; some are “cheap” but some are highly durable. Usually, these products come in a white color, which makes them an ideal room for a black and white theme. Some companies even sell these replicas oil or hand painted, so that they look realistic.
Moose Resin Heads: Great Works of Craftsmanship The moose is one fascinating animal in its own right, as it is the largest species in the deer family. They are solitary animals and tend to be slow moving and sedentary. Yet, they have the potential to move fast and to aggressively defend themselves. Males of the species drop their antlers after the mating season and then re-grow them in the spring. It takes the antlers a few months to fully grow into the proper size.
Indeed, replicas are the next best thing to the actual trophy itself. With moose resin heads, you also have plenty of decorating options from which to choose. Why not start browsing for online moose heads made from resin? It will definitely make a strong statement and make your living room a conversation piece!
There is only one question left to consider and that is, why buy moose resin heads instead of animal mounts? There are four main reasons. First, many people don’t like real taxidermy pieces, since they feature real skin and realistic looking body parts. (They may also feel sorry for hunted animals) Second, resin moose heads tend to be less expensive than actual trophy pieces, which are not cheap by any means, considering the work that has to be done.
The Weston usd $149 price excludes postage
Third, the white resin color of these pieces are excellent for style and decorating— much more so than an animal mount which has domineering colors which could clash with the rest of the room. Fourth, even very skilled hunters may never actually harvest a true trophy animal, as finding that animal is challenging. Many hunters find that landing a true trophy animal mount is rare, so it’s not very uncommon for even hunters to buy fakes.

rla Kiely is based in London. Although she started work on hat design, she has since moved into design work on handbags and her designs have been featured on a variety of other items, including kitchenware and cars. She received a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art where Harrods purchased her exit collection. She worked with a variety of companies before setting up her own business. Orla credits her grandmother with being the creative influence in her life. Her father was an accountant while her mother studied science before being forced to give up work by her employers when she got married. Kiely qualified as a textile designer from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and moved to New York to work for a wallpaper and fabric designer. She moved to England to work for Esprit, while undertaking a Masters at the Royal College of Art in London, primarily in knitwear. She displayed a range of hats in her exit show at the RCA, which were purchased by Harrods. She did design work for Marks & Spencer and Habitat. She moved into handbags after her father noted during her first London Fashion Week that everyone was carrying a handbag, but no one was wearing a hat.In the late 90s, the idea of laminating cloth for handbags came to her, “At the time, no one was doing anything like it. Laminated fabric, in those days, meant tablecloths.
Orla Kiely’s signature style is captured perfectly in this sweetly stylish handbag. Wrapped in darling printed coated cotton canvas, its slim silhouette features convenient front and back slip pocket for your most oftused items and an interior zip pocket for extra security. Double rolled handles keep this cutie comfortable on your shoulder during all your daily errands.

Coralie Bickford-Smith graduated from Reading University after studying Typography and Graphic Communication and currently works in-house at Penguin Books. Coralie’s book covers have been recognised by the AIGA (NY) and D&AD (UK) and have featured in a numerous international magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, Vogue and The Guardian. Her work with Penguin Classics on the clothbound series attracted worldwide attention and harks back to the world of Victorian bindings and a golden age of book binding. images copyright to penguin classics
Partner Feature
Penguin Classics include Penguin’s Poems for life, and Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy tales where originally indulged with cloth bindings. It is though these cloth books that Coralie decided early on to use patterns that would conform to the same style that would impose her quirky & quintessential style to a series of Penguin Classics. These covers convey to the reader something of the individual character of the book hidden beneath the cloth. The unique thing about designing these cloth covers for the classics was that the writing was so rich and full of wonderful possibilities. Coralie along with reading the classics conferred with one of the picture researches in Isabelle De Cat. Using this base Coralie developed mood boards, which were bursting with concepts and promises for these timeless tomes. You can see that some of the final patterns used in the covers of these text are taken more literally than others. The motif used in Jane Eyre refers directly to the lightning damaged chestnut tree, which serves as a symbolic potent of the book’s central relationship or the use of a peacock feather on Dorian Grey, which plays on the book’s themes of vanity. As the palette of colors were limited by the materials available. You can see the compelling combinations, that in some instances the connection with the text is more obvious while others capture the mood & allure of the text. B+L

What is the benefit to keeping my MacBook Pro in BookBook?
Chances are, a big part of your life - photos, music, work, school work and other important documents - is stored on your MacBook Pro. It’s critical to protect it as best you can. BookBook is a hardback case with a leather spine that offers superior protection as you shuttle your MacBook Pro from place to place. How is BookBook different from other cases?
Along with a totally unique look, BookBook protects your MacBook Pro in three ways. First, its hardback sides with reinforced corners protect from impacts encountered on your daily commute. Second, the vintage designed spine provide crush protection. Third, BookBook disguises your MacBook Pro from being seen. Safely stowed inside, your MacBook Pro looks like a vintage book left on a desk or table, reducing the odds of someone stealing it. What size BookBook do I need for my MacBook Pro? To determine what size BookBook you need for your MacBook Pro, open your Mac and measure the lit portion of your screen (not including the black bezel). Screens measuring 13.3” fit the 13-inch BookBook, 15.4” screens are compatible with our 15-inch BookBook, while our 17-inch BookBook is for those with 17” screens. Is BookBook compatible with the new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Pro with RD)?
Covers
The new Pro with RD does fit in our BookBook for MacBook, although the corner clips that secure the case to the screen are not usable due to the difference in size of the new Pro with RD. Can I use BookBook with other MacBooks or notebooks?
We recommend and support the use of BookBook with the Apple MacBook Pros. Unfortunately, we cannot currently recommend the use of BookBook with White MacBooks. Is there a BookBook for iPad? Yes. RODUCT REVIEW PANTONE POSTCARD BOX 100 MATT CARDS.
The colors are printed on matte cardboard, so they’re not glossy or shiny. There is a place to write a message, but each postcard does come with addressee lines and a “place stamp here” box. They’re almost too pretty to actually use. If I could come up with a collage idea, I would save them to decorate instead. Birch & Little do love love love these quirky & quaint postcards. usd $13.57 (excludes postage)

RODUCT REVIEW THE ART OF VINTAGE DC COMICS
These Art of Vintage postcards come in a nice hinged box for storage. They would also be nice in a frame - you could tile them for a really cool pop art piece. What a great idea that Birch & Little love. This is an amazing collection for any postcard collector! There is a great selection and has many of my favorites in it. You would be especially happy with how many Wonder Woman cards are in it, because she is one of Birch & Little’s favorite! The little box they come in it cute and sturdy. Highly recommend for anyone who loves postcards!

his is a collection of 100 postcards, each featuring a different and iconic Penguin book jacket. From classics to crime, here are over seventy years of quintessentially British design in one box. In 1935 Allen Lane stood on a platform at Exeter railway station, looking for a good book for the journey to London. His disappointment at the poor range of paperbacks on offer led him to found Penguin Books. The quality paperback had arrived. Declaring that ‘good design is no more expensive than bad’, Lane was adamant that his Penguin paperbacks should cost no more than a packet of cigarettes, but that they should always look distinctive. Ever since then, from their original - now worldfamous - look featuring three bold horizontal stripes, through many different stylish, inventive and iconic cover designs, Penguin’s paperback jackets have been a constantly evolving part of Britain’s culture.

Fred Hollows Foundation
Birch + Little have decided to support the as part of our commitment to the global community. In 1992, Fred and Gabi Hollows decided to set up The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue Fred’s work. Despite having been diagnosed with cancer in 1988 and knowing he didn’t have much longer to live, Fred started raising money to build an intraocular lens (IOL) factory in Eritrea, so IOLs could become more accessible to people who were blinded by cataracts. “By significantly increasing the supply of affordable high quality IOLs to developing countries, we will reduce one of the barriers to disadvantaged people having their sight restored.” At the time, treating cataract blindness was prohibitively expensive. An intraocular lens which is used to replace the damaged lens of the eye in cataract surgery cost up to USD$100. Mystique also surrounded the idea of modern IOL implant surgery, putting it into the league of open-heart surgery or organ transplant surgery. Fred wanted to lower the cost of IOLs, for under US$10 each. His aim was make IOL implant surgery safe, affordable and more widely available for people in developing countries. This proved difficult as the multinational IOL manufacturers refused to drop their prices that low. In true Fred style, he decided The Foundation would make its own.
Fred
In addition, Fred also wanted to develop robust and effective microscopes and YAG lasers to help improve cataract surgery in developing countries. In both cases, Fred and The Foundation were able to find Australian companies interested in developing low cost, durable, portable and robust equipment. A year after he died, Fred’s dream came true. In 1994, The Fred Hollows Foundation opened modern intraocular lens manufacturing laboratories in both Kathmandu (Nepal) and Asmara (Eritrea). Since opening the laboratories have produced more than four million lens for local and export use. Today, the Fred Hollows IOL Laboratories are independently owned and continue to produce high quality low cost IOLs which are exported worldwide. This was the start of Fred’s dream. Today, The Foundation International, is ensuring Fred’s work lives on delivering results and offering hope, dignity and opportunity. We are proud to be a supporter of this Foundation. Slick, slurp-worthy strands of fresine, partnered with porcini . It’s unclear whether these recipes are representative of what the restaurant will offer; let’s cross our fingers that there’ll be more uncommon offerings from various Italian regions.
Familiar classics include ‘vitello tonnato,’ chilled veal slices poached with tuna sauce and capers.

MIND&BODY
Kellie Long Personal Trainer
Kellie Long is an experienced Personal Trainer who is not unfamiliar with the pain of being unhappy in her own skin, both physically and emotionally. Winter seems to have this reputation for being cold wet and miserable. It’s got a bad rap for being a season of woes and is often blamed for dragging down a person’s mood, keeping a person inactive and the biggest social no-no of all; it’s held responsible for a person’s weight gain! Now that’s a lot of responsibility for one season to be held accountable for! So how does one wade through the rain in winter and bask in the rainbows? Well it’s as easy as ABC, so let’s begin! With the sound track of the Jackson Five’s ABC as easy as 123 in our heads, lets kick the blues to the curb, enjoy winter and relish the coming of spring!
A| Exercise:- Include some form of daily exercise into your
winter routine. It improves circulation and this in itself will improve your mood, elevating your feel good hormones and in turn increasing your desire to move (bonus). B| Water:- For me it’s a no brainer. If water is involved in every cellular function of my body, it’s a must have! Tell me it aids in my body’s recovery process and cellular repair and I’m racing for my drink bottle! You should aim for 1 litre of water per day for every 25kg of body weight. (E.g.
a 60kg person needs approx. 2.4 litres per day ). This is hard if you are not used to it, so cut yourself some slack and ease in. Believe me, the more you drink the more you will include it in your daily routine. Or ask yourself these questions; ‘do I want to avoid feeling fatigued mid afternoon?’ ‘Do I really need my kidneys to function optimally therefore enabling my metabolism to function in high gear?’ Zero calories and endless benefits makes water a must have for winter. Still enjoy your hot beverages as I do. C| Immune boosting foods:- Include lots of fresh fruit and vegetables in your daily routines. An apple a day really may keep the doctor away! Other immune boosting foods include; yoghurt, natural nuts and seeds and plenty of Omega 3’s - fish being a fabulous source. Bring rainbows inside by making your plates shine with colour. This will make anyone smile. The more colour the more nutrients you are taking in as well. Variety really is the spice of life; as you colour your plates you colour your insides, plus your body will rally with the intake of vital nutrients and minerals, along with a mixture of antioxidants and a healthy dose of fibre. D| Sleep:- Your body needs an adequate daily amount of sleep for recovery and repair just like it needs water.
Kellie’s
ABC’S FOR POWERING THROUGH WINTER
E| Clothes to bed:- Finding it hard to get out of bed in the dark and cold of winter? Cut out the early morning burdening chill factor by wearing your gym clothes to bed. That way, when your alarm goes off, you simply roll out of bed and get on with it! After all gym clothes are as comfy as pj’s these days. F| Gym Buddy:- Grab yourself some extra motivation along with your new found comfy pj’s (see tip E) and make that early morning or after work appointment with exercise one you attend with a best friend, a personal trainer or even perhaps a work group. No one wants to let down a whole team. Join a club there are heaps of clubs out there that will help you stay active and smile through winter as you stay fit and socialise at the same time. Bike clubs, running clubs, even swimming clubs - there are always indoor pools available in cities. G| Food Diary:- Keep track of your food and stay accountable with the use of a food diary. Trust me, staying one step ahead of unwanted baggage over winter involves keeping track of your food. We are all familiar with winter ‘comfort’ foods. Remember rainbows and water (see tips B & C). H| Music:- One of my best motivators is the music I listen to! We all have varying musical tastes but one thing is certain - music makes the world go around. You are more inclined to get active if you know your iPod is charged and the playlists are set.
Music elevates your mood quite literally. So use it through winter. I motivate myself by buying a couple of new tracks or even an album, but I won’t allow myself to listen to it until I start my next training session. That way I have something to look forward to. I| Reward:- My reward is often tip H new music. What motivates you? New gym clothes, or perhaps a magazine subscription? J| Stretch:- This is a triple threat tip. Stretching improves your circulation helping you de-thaw and is also a wonderful way to reward yourself with a little bit of you time that involves being kind to you. Stretching will also help improve posture by lengthening and strengthening muscles particularly for those people who have office jobs where sitting at a desk all day is the norm. I’m smiling just thinking about it. Heat the room, put on a sit-com or your favourite music and unwind yourself. Don’t stretch cold. Warm up with some star jumps or jumping jacks or some on the spot high knees till your huffing and puffing. Get your heart rate up and a good blood supply pumping through your muscles. K| New:- Try something new; a new class or exercise regime. Have fun and give yourself permission to experiment in winter. There’s a new form of Pilates out called Barre Xtend Ballet for example. L| Motivational Clothing:- Fake it till you make it! At 4.45am when I get up for CrossFit I’m not feeling so bubbly. But as I put on my bright yellow t shirt of Little Miss Sunshine it’s hard not to be elevated by the colour and there’s an expectation to live up to the slogan. There’s a reason motivational clothing is so popular and it’s the unspoken understanding that goes along with wearing a shirt that has a kick ass, bad to the bone saying that makes the wearer feel like they can! (Even when they know they might be falling short). B+L

M| Play:- Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Play with your food and experiment, try something new; make one night per week ‘pie night’ where you create a new healthy hot pie that you can look forward to at the weekend. Play with soups and have fun doing it! Food is life, not the enemy! Therefore, the more you relax about it, the more you will have a working relationship with it, in which your food fuels your body rather than making you feel guilty. Remember my favourite tip that I live by. Healthy first, then enjoy treat food! Treats don’t have to be unhealthy either; it could be a platter of in-season fresh fruit. N| Tempo:- Up the pace, increase the beat and shorten the time of your winter workouts with some interval training. I love this tip and live by it. It’s the only way I enjoy my cardio and I definitely get more ‘bang for my buck’ with interval training. You will increase your fitness faster and burn more calories in a shorter space of time. O| Vitamin D:- Get out there when and where you can and get some natural vitamin D. Temperatures might be low, but if you live in a place that you get glimpses of sun through winter, pop outside for 10 minutes and let it smile down on you. We are fortunate that we can ingest vitamin D for its benefits and it’s a great way to chase winter blues away, so bask in the sun if you can. Sunshine is an excellent mood elevator. P| Pack It:- Pack for success and don’t be caught out. Pack a spare set of gym clothes in a bag and keep it in the car or office so if time permits or the fancy takes, you’re ready to train.
S| Run :- You don’t require much equipment except some running shoes, so get out there. Join a club, or just run around the block. It’s a great way to de-stress and have some time to think and elevate your mood. The Australian Bureau of Statistics found that 492,000 women say it’s their exercise of choice. T| Time to Train:- Just do it! We find time for work (too much sometimes), housework and time we just waste in front of tech gadgets these days. So no more excuses; make time to train in winter as it has to be a priority. U| Goals:- Make them. Smile through winter the SMARTER way! Set Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound, Enjoyable and Rewarding goals. That will see you achieve through winter and therefore smile! Everyone loves the high of achieving a desired goal! V| Swap:- Sauces for mustards. Don’t get weighed down in winter with gravy and white sauce. Swap the flavour desired with some hot/mild mustards: less calories and great for clearing a stuffy head. W| Apps:- Enjoy technology the healthy way and have fun doing it! There are some great apps that can count calories, cheer your run, bike, swim, weights session etc. Some will give you workout ideas or menu inspirations and shopping lists. X| Dr’s:- Get a medical examination. Include an evaluation of your hormone levels and your blood. It’s your body so make sure you’re in good condition through winter and not lacking any essentials.
Q| Dress for it:- Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you need to over rug-up when training outside. If you run, for example, (I admire those who run rain, hail or shine), wear a lightweight wind/rain breaker and pack spare dry clothes in the car if you drive to your destination. I can’t stand having cold aching ears, so I run with a beanie in winter.
Y| Don’t Pollute:- Eat cleanly. Eat to fuel your body - don’t clog it up with fast processed foods and sugars. Use the hunter - gatherer rule: if it wasn’t a food 100 years ago it isn’t a food today.
Keep it light!
Don’t panic in Summer because you’ve done nothing in winter. Use the above tips to smile through the darkest season. Winter is lighter and brighter than people give it credit for!
R| Family:- Get family involved. Push the pram, get partners to commit to one exercise activity you can do together. Children love to watch you train so tag them along to outdoor parks or do a Wii workout in front of the T.V. where they can watch you.
Z| Zoom:- Zoom through winter. Smile through winter using my ABC’s on how to be a winter warrior. Have no regrets.

Siem Reap Angkor Wat
The trip of a life time to a magical place hidden in the Jungle, a place that time forgot Angkor Wat
Cambodia A
ngkor Wat “The City Temple” is rather a vast complex near Siem Reap which is about 100km North of the capital Phnom Penh. Built in the 12th Century by the King of the Khmer Empire this temple was dedicated to a Hindu diety. When Angkor fell to invaders, Angkor Wat receeded into the jungle but continued as a Buddhist temple & a pilgramage site over the centuries. Angkor is the best preserved templed which is a reflection of the Khmer architecture in cambodia.
Angkor Wat
The lost city first attracted the interest of the Europeans in the 1800’s after Cambodia was colonised by the French. Today Angkor continues to draw thousands of visitors daily.

he city of Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th centuries. The Khmer empire was one of the most prosperous and sophisticated kingdoms in the history of Southeast Asia, and its prosperity was expressed through a wide range of architecture.

Banteay Srei Temple Dedicated primarily to Shiva Temple was discovered only in 1914
There were various temples built around Siem Reap, one of the earlier temples we were to visit was constructed by Rajendravarman in the 960’s. This temple is known as Banteay Srei, and is located a little way outside of town approx 12kms north of Angkor Wat temple. Consisiting of low walls surrounding peaked structures of deep ochre sandstone. Banteay Srei means “Citadel of Women”. It is rumored that these carvings cold have been carved by the hand of a women. These relief carving on the central buildings depict scenes from ancient Hindu tales. This temple primarily dedicated to Shiva (The southern buildings & the central tower to devoted to him). However the nothern buildings were dedicated to Vishnu. This temple was re-discovered only in 1915, and was the subject of a celebrated case of art theft when Andre Malraux stole four devatas in 1923 ( he was soon arrested and these figures were returned to their rightful place at Banteay Srei.
The wonderful Angkor Archaelogical Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the khmer empire
At Banteay Srei, pediments are relatively large in comparison to the openings below, and take a sweeping gabled shape. For the first time in the history of Khmer architecture, whole scenes of mythological subjectmatter are depicted on the pediments.

Delicately carved reliefs on the walls sprout lichen, moss and creeping plants. Some as wide as an oak tree, the vines at Ta Prohm cleave massive stones in

ambodia’s Great Lake, the Boeung Tonle Sap (Tonle Sap Lake,) is the most prominent feature on the map of Cambodia. The Lake is also an important commercial resource, providing more than half of the fish consumed in Cambodia. In harmony with the specialized ecosystems, the human occupations at the edges of the lake is similarly distinctive - floating villages, towering stilted houses, huge fish traps, and an economy and way of life deeply intertwined with the lake, the fish, the wildlife and the cycles of rising and falling waters.
The food market area opens in the early morning, and is busiest during this time, with mostly locals who are shopping for the day ahead. As the hours pass by, less and less sellers remain, leaving only those with permanent spots to continue selling their items. Most of them are fruit and vegetable sellers, as these items can stay fresh relatively longer. So if you’d like to experience the traditional market at its liveliest, come early, and you’ll be rewarded with a unique experience.
If you are searching for something more than potato chips, peanuts and pretzels; satisfy your epicuriosity at a Cambodian market or drive to Skoun for some unique fried snacks. The array of delicious morsels this country has to offer are not preserved in strange numbers, packed with nutritional information or shelved. Try some six-legged snacks, or a few winged-snacks. How about a kilo of jumping snacks? Cambodia is teeming with fried crickets
LOVE SYSTEM
A SOUL JOURNEY • CREAtiNg thE LOVE SYStEM
Creating the LOVE SYStEM can be best described as a “soul journey” for me, it actually took around 7 years (if you don’t count a lifetime of prior experiences). Like all true creative pursuits it was a seven year journey of commitment, persistence, failure, technical breakthroughs, study, soul searching, sharing, caring, not caring, learning compassion, philosophy, questioning values, feeling inadequate, triumph etc etc, but ultimately it was a true labour of love, otherwise I would have simply given up. Creating something truly beautiful can be extraordinarily difficult (think diamonds = created under incredible pressure; think pearls = created by irritation of a single grain of sand; I think you get my point).
“...creating something truly beautiful is always a soul journey” Paul Loveday
I believe creating something truly beautiful is always a soul journey. It’s all about learning to “shine your light” as you’re tapping into and recognising your own innate creativity, the innate universal intelligence within you, your inner wisdom, you’re always attempting to connect with your soul, so to speak. It’s an amazing, challenging and sometimes overwhelming journey. But through this journey a number of simple tenements were reinforced to me. 1. If you undertake a meaningful soul journey you will always find and manifest something beautiful within yourself (the journey can be challenging as you have to grow as a human being). Ultimately, you have to get connected to your soul, or you simply can’t begin the journey. 2. A true “soul journey” will always have “equity”. In other words, it’s never a purely selfish act or outcome, because it’s not only you who will experience the benefits of what you manifest. When you “Shine your Light”, others see, feel, experience, share and are influenced by the manifestation of that light. The positive growth of your “Soul journey” is a positive energy others will benefit from, no matter what it’s ultimate manifestation is. Now, I should mention at this point that the LOVE SYStEM isn’t just a profoundly beautiful organic Skin & Bodycare System with soul, this is just one of it’s many manifestations (yes there are many more to come). The vision of the LOVE SYStEM is to be a conduit for many creative, meaningful and equitable outcomes, whether they be profound wellness formulations that bring balance to people’s lives, or altruistic pursuits, improving sustainability, respect for each other and the planet etc.
