BIRDS IN MARINE HABITATS

BIRDS IN MARINE HABITATS This group includes many species which have been very little studied; moreover, there are numerous threats which mean that many seabirds are endangered.

S

pain is probably the European country with the highest marine diversity, since it comprises such different biogeographic regions as the Canary Islands, the Bay of Biscay, Galicia and the Mediterranean. Together these areas

cover more than one million square kilometres of water and they lie adjacent to almost 8,000 km of coastline.
