I think the key to this play is each character believing that they are the audience’s character and that everyone witnessing the events relates to them and wants them to succeed. Director’s Note Webster doesn’t have the elegance of Shakespeare, but he packs a punch and writes visceral full-bodied characters. The extra challenges of this production being the social distancing of anyone not in a bubble and the lack of an audience in a style of theatre in which the most important element is the actor’s relationship with the audience.
