As the curtain falls on the 2022 Commonwealth Games and with the spotlight of the world still on the West Midlands, everyone at the Hippodrome is incredibly proud to have played its part in what has been a true celebration of the region A real highlight for me came in the closing ceremony, where a preview of Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, our landmark co production with Rambert, was watched by millions across the world. The response has been incredible with a massive sense of anticipation building around the world premiere on our stage in September We have recently added an extra week in May 2023 for those who haven’t managed to snap up tickets.
Christmas is without a doubt my favourite time of year and 2022 is no exception Firstly, the multi million pound refresh of Sir Peter Wright’s world famous and much loved production of The Nutcracker returns home to our stage We have a stellar cast and lots of surprises in store with Dick Whittington, you won’t want to miss out I cannot wait to experience one of the biggest pantomimes in the UK right here on our Hippodrome stage.
It has been a special year for Birmingham, but I’m even more excited for what the future has in store I hope you can join us soon for more memorable moments in the greatest city on earth

Described as “ a truly gifted stand up ” by The Sunday Times, join Joanne McNally as she revisits her irreverent and critically acclaimed show The Prosecco Express.
Fri & Sat 8pm £26
Dara Ó Briain is back on tour, with a brand new show! At the end of his last tour, Dara had performed the show ‘Voice Of Reason’ 180 times, over 2 years across 20 countries, from Auckland to Reykjavik, and by March 2020 he was ready for a break! He would now like to apologise for saying that and will never wish for anything like that again Yes, he’s back on tour, and he will never stop again, because that’s clearly what caused all this trouble Instead, in his new show So, Where Were We? Dara will hardly mention the last two years, because, Jesus, who wants to hear about that? Instead, Dara will fire out the usual mix of stories, one liners, audience messing and tripping over his words by talking too quickly because he’s so giddy to be back in front of a crowd “Pure, undiluted comic genius” Evening Standard “His set is a masterclass in intelligent, no frills stand up ”

Due to a relentless ageing process, Joanne is suddenly in her late thirties with no husband, no kids, no pension and no plan She is full of questions: if she doesn’t birth anything, who will be obligated to watch her die so she doesn’t have to do it alone? Can she start a GoFundMe page to get a golden tomb built for single people to get buried in together, or do we all just get thrown into a mass grave and covered in cat hair? When a man on a dating app identifies as ‘spiritual’, is it safe to assume he has the personality of a spoon? If you do all your drinking in the bath, can you write it off as self care? “Dark, hilarious, strangely reassuring, Joanne is on a mission to solve absolutely nothing” The Independent “Joyously nuts” The Examiner
