Athletic Director’s Letter
Dear Parents and Supporters,
I’d like to start by commending our parents and student-athletes for a tremendously successful year of athletics. The 2021-2022 school year has been a great example of how resilient our students and athletes truly are. The fall sports season started off with a number of schedule changes and cancellations due to the smoke, and at that time we were still navigating the changes and new “normals” of COVID as it related to high school sports. Our student-athletes persevered and it has been such a blessing to see the kids back in the gym and on the fields and courts. Our spring athletes have hit the ground running (pun intended) and the season is ending with many of our teams headed to the post-season.

Through Bishop Manogue’s mission of educating through faith, leadership, knowledge, and compassion, our coaches and mentors instill those same values on the field and in the gym. While a healthy competitive environment is created for our student-athletes, the importance of academics and Catholic leadership is still at the forefront and is the highest priority. In fact, 138 varsity athletes from our fall, winter, and spring sports were recognized for academic achievement by maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the semester preceding their competition season. We are so proud of their dedication!
We’d also like to recognize and thank our parents/ guardians and supporters who continue to show respect and good sportsmanship to our athletes, visiting teams, and coaches. It takes a village to create a welcoming and safe athletic environment, and BMCHS has set a great standard.
Finally, there are many people to thank who are “behind the scenes,” among them: the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) for its governance and stewardship of our state’s high school athletics; officials and coaches for dedicating your time and expertise; school administration and faculty for recognizing and supporting the vital role athletics plays in the education of a child.
On behalf of the Athletics Department, thank you for your commitment and continued support.
Go Miners!
