THE 2020 HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONy welcomed three new individual inductees and one championship team into the Bishop McNamara Hall of Fame, which honors the achievements of individuals and teams in athletics from La Reine and Bishop McNamara High Schools. The Induction Ceremony was held for the first time virtually on Thursday, November 5. The evening brought together alumni, current families, board members, administration, coaches, and employees to celebrate those who have excelled in athletics on and off the field. The induction class of 2020 included three individuals from Bishop McNamara - Keith Lytle ’75, Tiffany Evans ’93, and Stacey Oldenburg-Buckhaults ’00 and one team - the 2003 Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team from Bishop McNamara High School. Keith Lytle ’75 was a member of the Varsity Football Team all four years of high school. He was a key member on the 1973 DC City Championship Team that went 11-0 that season. For his many accomplishments on the gridiron, Keith was named All-City by the Washington Post and Washington Star, All-State by the Baltimore Sun, and, of highest distinction, an All-American by the Sentinel News. In addition to playing football, Ketih played basketball and was a significant contributor on the Varsity Track & Field Team where he set a school record for shot put that lasted ten years until 1985. Upon graduation, Keith received scholarship offers to play football in college. He attended The University of Massachusetts earning an Associate’s of Science and Bachelor’s of Science in Information Technology and a Certificate in UNIX/Linux Operating Systems. During his career in related information technology fields, Keith uses his advanced training to give back to the community by tutoring students seeking their GED in Mathematics and he has taught Introduction to Computer Repair at a local education development center. Tiffany Evans ’93 was the first female athlete in Bishop McNamara’s history to receive an NCAA Division I Track & Field scholarship earning this distinction after the merger with La Reine High School in 1992. Her sophomore year she was awarded the silver medal in the 200m and won a gold medal in the 4x200m at the Catholic Girls’ Athletic Association (CGAA) Championships. In 1993, she was named top female athlete at the 15th Annual Falcon Invitational. Tiffany was Washington Post All Met Honorable Mention for field events in 1993. In 1992 and 1993, she was the female High Jump Champion for the CGAA. Tiffany received an invitation to the prestigious Penn Relays in 1993 and participated in the high jump. For her leadership on the Track & Field Team, Tiffany was named team captain her senior year. Upon graduation, Tiffany earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, attained her Master’s in Social Work from Case Western University, and is now pursuing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. A lifelong educator

and former Bishop McNamara Board Member, Tiffany has worked for the past twenty years in residential boarding education as a founding member of The SEED School of Maryland, where she finished her two year term as CoHead of School. Stacey Oldenburg-Buckhaults ’00 was a multi-sport athlete at Bishop McNamara competing as a swimmer, basketball player, and soccer player. However, it was on the soccer field where Stacey was a true standout as a member of the Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team all four years of high school. Stacey played center midfielder, defender, and forward. During her senior season while serving as the team’s captain, Stacey was invited to play for the Olympic Development Team, which serves as the development squad for the United States Women’s National Team, which eventually won the gold medal. Stacey’s individual athletic accomplishments on the soccer field were many as she was named Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Second Team All Conference her freshman year in 1996 and then was named WCAC First Team All Conference in 1997, 1998, and 1999. She was named First Team All County in 1998 and 1999. In 1999, Stacey was a National Nominee for the Wendy’s High School Heisman and was selected that year as a First Team selection for the Maryland Independent Schools Soccer Tournament. Stacey was honored at graduation with the Frank Neitzey Award as the outstanding female student-athlete for the Class of 2000. Upon graduation, Stacey went on to have a distinguished collegiate career as a midfielder and forward at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She then played for a semi-pro team called the Steel City Sparks in Pittsburgh in 2004. Ms.Oldenburg-Buckhaults eventually came back home to Bishop McNamara to serve as a Science Teacher and Girls’ Head Varsity Soccer Coach. She now lives in Colorado with her husband and children.

The 2003 Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team, led by Head Coach Mike Bozeman ’84, remains one of Bishop McNamara High School’s most accomplished teams in its five decade history. Posting a 32-5 overall season record, the team was ranked in the top twenty of best high schools nationally by USA Today and they were ranked number one in the Washington Metropolitan area by the Washington Post at the season’s conclusion. They were Bishop Walsh Invitational Champions, WCAC Champions, and DC City Title Champions. The team achieved both collectively and individually, as numerous members of the 2003 Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team received postseason accolades and awards. Upon graduation from Bishop McNamara, several team members went on to play basketball in college. The roster from this outstanding team included Kalika France ’03, Genet Moore ’03, Antelia Parrish ’04, Nikki Bozeman ’04, Chauntise Wright ’04, Iman McFarland ’05, Alexandra Roane ’05, Ashley Spriggs ’06, Paulisha Kellum ’06, Jori Nwachukwu ’06, Manager Morgan Mercer ’04, Assistant Coach Robert Surrat, and Head Coach Mike Bozeman ’84.

Robert Summers ’86 served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Mr. Summers is Board Chairperson and a 2010 Hall of Fame inductee. Special thanks to Michael Anderson ’94 of DHM Photography & Videography, who provided all the video work on this memorable night. n
