Niloy from BIS in an extensive interview with Harish Abichandani | Managing Director | Millennium Semiconductors explores the strategies during the lockdown and revamp, trends, semiconductor component business in India and the charisma which makes the company first-choice for their customers. Q. Unveiling Millennium Semiconductors as a company, key focus, services, warehouse capability and your history?

Millennium Semiconductors India Pvt. Ltd., today an ISO 9001:2015 registered leading distributor of Electronic components, was started as Haresh Enterprises in 1995. Starting off 25 years ago as a trader, we have come a long way becoming a one stop solution for us customers providing value addition services to support our customers throughout the entire process from POC to designing, Kitting to delivery and even after-sales proceedings. Catering to a wide-range of segments like Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Industrial, IOT, Lighting, Defence and EMS, we have a strong reach with 2 branch offices, 2 warehouses, 7 SOHO offices, 2 overseas facilities. Our warehouses, in Chakan (Pune) a 1,00,000 sq. ft state of the art facility, and in Noida, a 40,000 sq. ft one, are strategically located to provide to our customers across India. With more than 2000+ customers from these segments, we have built a well-established connection in almost every region of India within the past two and a half decades. Headquartered in Pune, we have a dedicated team for Research & Development and a highly-qualified group of professionals who strive to develop innovative solutions for our customers.

Millennium Semiconductors has a full-fledged technical department, wherein we create efficient solutions for the customers, comprising of broad range of segments. We are not solely focused on our own solutions rather we have built an effective strategy to understand the needs of our customers. Our proficient technical department that enables them to go an extra mile and provide value added solutions. With a team of more than 180 professional experts, we are

currently expanding their reach to a wider audience. Our team of engineers, developers, technical leads, and project managers are continuously on their toes to keep up with the Megatrends and the emerging technologies to find the appropriate solutions for its customers.

Over the years, we have adapted strategies and transformed our solutions to meet the changing demands of the market. The rapidly growing industry survives on the principle of providing solutions that are – Smaller, Faster and Cheaper! We have grasped this principle and implemented the same to develop effective solutions and innovative technology for our customers.

Q. During the lockdown and given the pandemic situation how did Millennium Semiconductors perform – strategies opted to drive sales?

The pandemic was as much as a shocker to us as anyone else. But early on, we realized, that this situation may last for longer than we thought. The first two months were a dud due to the entire country coming to a stop. But we used this time for planning and strategizing the best course to move forward. Our first and foremost concern was our team’s wellbeing and safety. We were sure of one thing, fight tooth and nail, we would not let any employee take the dent for this situation and the company will take care of each and every employee just like family does during crisis. The simple strategy for us was not to compromise on our customer service. Working from home or office, we ensured that our customers got the required material on time. Along with that, we increased our digital activities to connect with customers virtually, whether to provide a solution to an existing one or give demos of our products or pitch a new customer we did it all. Our team played its part perfectly by taking double the efforts to ensure that no compromise is made in our service level. And now we are back on track, working harder and giving it our all to surpass the sales and the service level.

Q. What are the trends you are witnessing specifically in the Indian market?

The Indian market has been growing and evolving continuously. And looking at the way the Government is propagating digitalization, trends lean towards 5G, IoT enabled products, mobiles, laptops, electronic toys, amongst others. This will definitely provide a boost to us.

Q. What components are of key demand as we enter into this new normal?

Within the new normal, remote working is taking precedence resulting in the demand, which in turn increases the module business of 5G, GSM, WIFI, LORA etc. substantially.

Q. As the market gets wider with the digital drive, how do you address the unique needs of your customers?

Since a couple of years now, we have been working towards digitalization of our processes and systems. We have developed and use various systems to serve our customers efficiently and effectively.

Q. Your technical and customer support.

Being a distributor, we find innovative ways to support our customers, and cater to their requirements. We have grown to increase our services from to support our customers throughout the entire process from POC to designing, Kitting to delivery and even after-sales proceedings. We have a technical lab with all the latest equipment for developing complete solutions to testing. Our strong team of 25+ in the technical department (Field Application Engineers & Application Engineers) work with our customers to develop customized solution within the stipulated time frame with the best component pricing.

We have a competent frontend team of Sales, Product Marketing, Field Application Engineers and a strong backend team of Supply Chain Management, Customer Service Representatives who work with our customers to serve them with all their requirements.

Q. Lastly, key announcements and strategies expected from Millennium semiconductors in 2021?

The strategy for 2021 is to surpass all the targets and supersede them. To continue to be the customer-centric organization, we are happy to announce the completion of our 40,000 sq. ft. state of the house warehouse and branch office in Noida.
