Shelter Belt
307 N 3rd St, Bismarck
Shane Cornelius and Stephanie Miller are known for their restaurant Butterhorn and in 2021 they will be taking over the old Lucky Ducks and Pond location on 3rd street to bring us a more everyday dining experience with a more relaxed atmosphere. Shelter Belt will be open for both lunch and dinner. Sandwiches, soups, tacos will all be on the menu keeping it pretty similar to the old Lucky Ducks menu while still making it their own. There are plans for happy hour, with 18 tap lines for the ability to rotate beers. Construction will begin right after the new year with plans of opening in April.
Culvers
Just south of MacKenzie River Pizza
The couple who brought the Wisconsin chain Culvers to Mandan are adding a second location in Bismarck in 2021. Culvers will be located right next to MacKenzie River Pizza in north Bismarck. They are planning to open December 2021. Culvers is known for their butterburgers and frozen custard that make their famous concrete mixers.
512 E Main Ave, Bismarck Located in the old Starving Roster restaurant in downtown Bismarck, Jimmy V’s will be a 21-and-up venue. The new owners are planning to create a unique hometown feeling bar that brings together old school and modern atmospheres, along with Italian food and drinks. With some renovations taking place, they plan to open in January.
The Donut Hole
931 South 9th Street, Bismarck The Donut Hole is coming back to Bismarck! Based out of Dickinson. The Donut Hole is moving in to the old Bird Dog Brewing location in south Bismarck. They will be serving up donuts of all kinds for everyone to enjoy!

Clothing (701) is set up just like a traditional store, with men’s, women’s, kids and baby items, and even a little décor. Families set up a time and come in and shop. Clothing (701) is accepting gently used clothing and shoes. So clean out those closets and contact them to set up a time to drop your items off. They are also looking for volunteers to wash and hang clothes and help families shop.

Twisted Twins Tattoo
2500 Railroad Ave, Bismarck Twisted Twins Tattoo was in the works for over 20 years before it opened last May. Twins Aaron and Scott were both derailed by meth addiction and both ended up in prison. Once Aaron was released, he apprenticed as a tattoo artist, working closer to his dreams. Scott is now apprenticing under Aaron and both are unbelievably artistic and talented. Now, years later, they are fullfiling their dreams of having their own tattoo shop and won second place in the Bismarck Tribunes “Best of the Best”.

This is our second year in the Bismarck Magazine. As I sat down to write this article, I spread all of last year’s articles out on a desk. Then something came to mind …
The topics change from month to month, but our picture has remained the same. It’s nice, because we don’t age! But are we really the same people we were when that picture was taken? A lot has happened in the last year. Pictures capture us at a specific moment in time. And then we change.
You may have put a plan in place for retirement or college planning. Maybe you have a business succession plan or an estate plan. Or maybe you’re already retired. These plans captured you and your goals at a moment in time. Do they still apply to who you are today?
Planning isn’t a one-time event. It’s an ongoing process. It starts with a conversation and continues as a conversation. If you haven’t reviewed your plans recently, give us a call.
