‘Roses are red, violets are blue…’ is how the old love poem goes and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so we sat down to chat with Leilani Shannon and Jessica Berg of Dutch Mill Florist to talk all about your floral options for the day of love.

Traditionally, roses are the go-to flower for Valentine’s Day, but do you know what the various colors of roses mean? “Red always symbolizes love, beauty, and courage so really that could symbolize anything for anybody,” Leilani explains. “Yellow roses are a symbol of friendship, joy, and new beginnings and a rosebud signifies beauty

and purity, and a thornless red rose signifies love at first sight,” she adds.

Novelty roses in blue, purple, and rainbow roses are also options. Add a beautiful, clear vase and you’re all set, whatever color rose you’re in the market for.

If you’re looking for something more unexpected than traditional roses, Oriental lilies are a great option. “They’re very fragrant and hardier than Asiatic lilies and they come in pink or white,” Jessica says. “These flowers have elegance and that wow factor.”

Dutch Mill’s Valentine’s Day offerings include so much more than flowers, too. Plants, candles, cards, and customizable gift baskets are all great options to treat that special someone in your life. With so much variety, Dutch Mill is literally a one-stopshop for all your Valentine’s Day needs.

Preparedness is the name of the game when it comes to the busiest day of the floral shop’s year. “It’s a lot of preparation that goes into a few days,” Jessica explains. She urges Valentine’s Day gift givers to be prepared, too. “Try to call in early because we go right down to the wire with product. If you’re reading this, call in and order early,” she suggests.

If you’re a planner, you can order online ahead of time for pick up or delivery and call in orders a few weeks in advance. “All our arrangements are custom designed on site by our designers and people can always add on one of our non-floral gifts like our John Kelly fine chocolates or Mighty Missouri Coffee,” Leilani explains.

If you’d like to be more hands on and involved, you are welcome to visit Dutch Mill and choose every part of the arrangement you’d like to gift from the shop’s stocked coolers.

Valentine’s Day is on a Monday this year so in addition to their regular hours, Dutch Mill Florist will be open for all your Valentine’s needs longer on Saturday, February 12th and from nine to three on Sunday, February 13th.

Emsculpt: Instant Tone

Are you a new mother hoping to regain some of your core strength? Are you looking for a boost on your journey to fitness? Or are you simply trying to get toned before summer months of swimsuits and crop tops? Kharma Vida can help anyone looking for these kinds of results with their Emsculpt machine.

Emsculpt is a non-invasive, painless device that penetrates past tissue into your muscles, contracting them in order to burn fat and build muscle.

Many new mothers have used Emsculpt to help them rebuild muscle in their core after giving birth.

Emsculpt targets specific parts of your body and helps tone your abs, glutes, triceps, biceps, or calves.

Most clients do 30 minute sessions four separate times within two weeks, with results typically appearing 3 months later. No down time is needed after these sessions.

Within one session there are three cycles, and the final one breaks up any built up lactic acid ensuring you are not sore the next day. This means you don’t have to miss any of your workouts, making Emsculpt a great tool for someone looking for a boost on their fitness journey.

Sydney Couch, an esthetician at Kharma Vida, was able to try out Emsculpt for herself. Her results can be seen in the pictures featured here. Sydney felt toned and strong after her sessions and found ab workouts to be easier. “People focus too much on the visual results, but more importantly it gives you a nice strong core which is really important to the overall health of the body,” says Sydney. “I’d rather do this than workout.”

Everyone’s results vary depending on different lifestyles and body types. Consultations at Kharma Vida are free and the best way to find out if you are a good candidate for Emsculpt. “Now is the time to do it,” Sydney suggests, “so by the time spring and summer roll around, you have those results.”
