Everyone wants that youthful glow to their skin. More important than anything else to looking beautiful is having healthy, hydrated skin free of inflammation. “When skin is healthy, it’s absolutely beautiful, and I think people forget that, that it’s okay to have imperfections. It’s okay to be different,” expresses Andi Thon, owner of Kharma Vida Wellness Spa. Having healthy skin allows these supposed imperfections to be embraced for the beautiful differences they are.

Filling your skin with healthy ingredients is key, so it is important to choose products that are natural, filled with antioxidants, and free of toxins that only inflame your skin more. “Get something powerful and impactful. I always say put your money into an exfoliation and a serum at least,” says Andi. By choosing these kinds of products, you will be preserving your skin, keeping it healthy and hydrated, and giving your face that much desired glow. If you start these natural skin care routines earlier in life, you are going to be much less likely to seek out other types of aggressive treatments.

These skin care routines do not need to be long or complicated either. By choosing one or two powerful products, your morning or bedtime routine can be done in a matter of minutes, but will make a noticeable difference in your skin, especially when it comes to aging.

Another important routine to get into is regular facials. Facials get the dead skin off your face, allowing products to penetrate better. For Bismarck Magazine readers, if you call Kharma Vida Wellness Spa and mention this article you will get a huge discount on monthly facials, including $20 off the organic facial and $10 off the express facial. Mabel’s All Day is bringing high-quality food and culinary expertise to the BismarckMandan area. Married couple Sam and Abby Williams love food and love sharing their passion for it with the community. Sam and Abby were living in California before they opened Mabel’s. “We’ve always talked about moving back to Bismarck which is my hometown to raise our 3 young kids around our family, but the opportunity was never really there. When we really started getting serious about making the move my mom sent us a picture of a food truck for sale and said, ‘you guys should buy this,’ explains Abby. The couple came down to visit in May of 2020 and felt like the opportunity was too perfect to pass up. “Everything fell into place really easily,” says Abby, and Mabel’s All Day opened in September 2020.

Since it opened, Mabel’s has been a hit. Sam, who is the Chef of Mabel’s, has been cooking professionally since he attended culinary school at the age of 18. “He’s really good at what he does,” says Abby. “I might be a little biased, but I feel like Bismarck is really lucky to have him” In addition to Sam’s expertise, a lot of their success can be placed on the high-quality, local ingredients used. “We use Black Leg Ranch beef because they raise grassfed beef and are a long-standing North Dakota ranch,” says Abby. They also use North Dakota flour and take advantage of local farms for their vegetables and fruit. “It’s important to us that we use local purveyors as much as possible to support the community we are so grateful to be a part of.”

Mabel’s All Day’s menu offers a unique variety- something for everyone including those with dietary restrictions. You can always count on their burgers, tacos, sea salt chocolate chip cookies, and their famous chicken sandwich. They craft their specials around what they can get seasonally or on what they are craving that week which range from things like poke bowls and lobster rolls to bison lasagna made with handmade pasta. They also cold press and bottle unique blends of juices made with organic fruit and vegetables. “We’re not a typical food truck you would find at a carnival or fair. We’re serving some of the best food around in a very accessible way. It’s a different experience than a traditional restaurant and better in a lot of ways” says Abby.

So where does Mabel’s hope to go from here? “Our goal is to eventually get our own space where we have a casual family-friendly restaurant and are able to expand on all of our ideas.” In the meantime, they are happy serving their classic American staples from their food truck that is usually parked at Runnings on South Washington. Mabel’s will be hitting the road again this spring. Make sure to follow along with them through their social media channels and website where you can see a schedule of where and when they will be parked.

*They are also available for catering events, such as graduations, weddings, and company parties.
