CULINARY ARTS Aaahh-Lefse!

Fresh homemade lefse is a warm, snuggling hug for your taste buds, and is traditionally made from potatobased dough that is hand-rolled. The most popular way to enjoy it is called “lefse-klining” – the simple delight of adding butter and sugar, then rolling it up. Lefse is often served alongside lutefisk, another traditional Norwegian delicacy, though one with more of an ‘acquired’ taste. Join us to learn more, because there is no end to all the ways you can enjoy traditional lefse! A supply fee of $10 is payable at the time of class registration. 10/25 Mon 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM CHS, Room E100 Instructor: Karen Hook Fee: $59 Course ID: 9960015

FAMILY TIME New! Grandparent’s

New! Creative Photo

A journal provides a special way for grandparents to pass on the valuable memories and stories that have been a lifetime in the making. The journal allows grandparents to preserve memories from their lives and to share their heartfelt wishes with their precious grandchildren using a hardcover, preprompted journal covering topics such as childhood, school days, marriage, family, and career. Each week different topics will be discussed, helping each writer to find their subject matter and stylistic voice. We will read our work aloud and discuss it, making constructive suggestions for improvement. The important thing is to write well enough to interest grandchildren and to convey our ideas clearly. Class registration closes October 20 to allow for supplies to be purchased. Supply fee is included in course cost.

Have a pile of old photos stashed in shoeboxes? A perpetual task on your to-do list? Organize them? Toss? Digitize? Pass the photos onto other family members? This fun handson class will take an unconventional approach to taking those great memories and capturing the bigger story. Think creative writing meets simple art with a dash of photography sprinkled in while handing down memories. Have you ever tried making and sending an incredibly fun birthday card with one of those photos that never saw the light of day? How about a creative journal or letter with a story to pass on to another family member? Or perhaps even a simple small canvas art piece to display proudly in your home? Let’s make memories! Bring a handful of photos to class to try out this fun approach! Class registration closes October 22 to allow for supplies to be purchased for participants. Supply fee included in course cost.

DDI’s online learning library is designed for learners to build skills on their own without the travel and administrative expenses of traditional workshops. Used as a standalone solution or to complement a leadership development program. Our online courses are based on the same research and competencies as the traditional classroom system. When supported with practice, reinforcement tools, and onthe-job application opportunities, you can get the same impact as other modalities. These are self-paced courses that can be completed in 2-3 hours. After passing the Mastery Test, you will receive a certificate of completion.

For better or worse, a team member’s work performance has an impact on other people, their productivity, and even profitability. That’s why coaching individuals to achieve their personal best isn’t just a one-time event but an ongoing responsibility. Two types of coaching, proactive and reactive, enable leaders to not only guide people to enhance or improve their performance but also set them up for success before they even begin. Three coaching techniques ensure leaders collect accurate performance data, seek input rather than simply tell, and provide ongoing feedback and support. Course length: 3 hrs, 30 min Self-paced: Begin Anytime Online Fee: $119 Course ID: 5600087

High Impact Feedback and Listening

Feedback brings out the best in people. It promotes collaboration, inspires innovation, and enriches partnerships. Cultivating this kind of environment requires a free exchange of positive and developmental feedback, even when giving it—and receiving it—isn’t easy. Learners are equipped with the skills they need to comfortably and confidently share specific, actionable feedback as well as techniques for listening to, accepting, and acting on feedback from others.
