Land a high-demand career in a hospital, ambulatory surgery center or clinic with BSC’s Associate in Applied Science in Surgical Technology. As an allied health professional, you will work to ensure patient safety in settings that involve invasive procedures. You’ll gain expertise in the theory and use of sterile and aseptic techniques, and apply knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, instruments and technology to facilitate a physician’s performance in the operating environment. A strong science background is recommended. High school courses should include the biological sciences, especially anatomy and physiology. BSC’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Associate of Applied Science will help you develop the skills you need to enter this high-demand career. A DMS, also known as a sonographer, utilizes a transducer, which uses sound waves to obtain images of various organs and tissues in the body.
