Welcome to Bismarck State College This guide will assist you with your early entry registration at BSC.

It is divided into four sections: Prepare for Registration

Prepare for Registration Claim your User ID and Password You will need a User ID and Password to log in to CampusConnection in order to register for classes, accept or decline aid, and pay tuition.

Prepare for Registration Log in to CampusConnection ACTION ITEMS 1. Go to Bismarckstate.edu 2. Go to Resources For 3. Click on Current Students 4. Select CampusConnection

and log in.

Using your NDUS ID and Password, log in to CampusConnection, your one-stop shop for all student transactions. CampusConnection allows you to: • Register (add/drop) for classes • Pay tuition/fees • Search open and closed class sections • View academic advisor • View/Print class schedule • View grades • View unofficial transcripts • Order official transcripts • Manage your bio-demographic information

Prepare for Registration View your To-Do’s, Holds, and Communications ACTION ITEMS View and Resolve: 1. CampusConnection To Do List. 2. CampusConnection Holds. 3. CampusConnection Student Communications. Outstanding Holds and To Do’s listed on your CampusConnection Student Homepage Task Tile. This could prevent you from registering for classes. Some holds are for information only. To Do’s, Holds, and Communications may be applied by any North Dakota University System institution you have attended. Communications are time sensitive materials. These communications may require your immediate attention and others are for information only.

Prepare for Registration Accept Financial Obligation Agreement ACTION ITEMS 1. Review the Financial Obligation Agreement. 2. Accept the terms of the agreement. This agreement is listed as a hold on your CampusConnection. It is an understanding of the legal obligation to pay charges assessed to your Student Account. You will not be able to register until this hold is accepted. To remove the hold, you will need to read and agree to the terms.

Registration Print Class Schedule ACTION ITEMS 1. Check that all classes appear on your class schedule. 2. Print your class schedule. You are not officially enrolled in a class unless it appears on your class schedule. Your class schedule provides you with class location, instructor, start/end dates, and times. You will need your class schedule to purchase textbooks.

Registration Review Dates & Deadlines ACTION ITEMS 1. Print the Dates & Deadlines Schedule. 2. Print the Academic Calendar. 3. Mark add, drop, and refund deadlines on your calendar. • Match up the begin and end dates listed on your class schedule with the Dates & Deadlines Schedule. BSC provides all important dates and deadlines in two documents. • •

Academic Calendar – lists school dates, such as textbook purchasing, tuition deadlines, and school breaks. Dates and Deadlines Schedule – lists classes by length as well as the add, drop, and withdraw deadlines. It also includes the last day to drop/withdraw for 100% tuition refund.

You are responsible for knowing the “Dates & Deadlines”, not abiding by these dates could not only impact your GPA, but your wallet as well!

Registration Know your Advisor ACTION ITEM 1. Locate your advisor using CampusConnection. You should contact your school counselor or principal for correct class selection. You are assigned an advisor to assist you in locating the correct course information and answer any questions regarding registration.

Registration Complete FERPA ACTION ITEM 1. If you have not already done so, complete the FERPA Release Form. • NDUS Username & Password required The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) prohibits BSC from releasing Educational records to any Third Party without written consent. Academic and Financial records will not be released without written consent from you. This can include parents or guardians, employers and third party funding agencies. This form stays on file and is valid during the student’s career. No need to complete each term.

After Registration Purchase Textbooks ACTION ITEMS 1. Check with your high school to see if a textbook will be provided. IF NOT – complete action items 2 and 3. 2. View book list. • Will help you determine if a book is required and the approximate cost. 3. After Registration Set up Authorized User to Make Payment This allows the student to setup someone other than themselves, to make a payment in CampusConnection.

After Registration Pay Tuition ACTION ITEMS 1. View your tuition and fees. 2. Pay tuition Tuition and fees on the student account are due by the first day of class. All other charges such as late fees, fines, room, board, etc. are due the date they are incurred. Student Finance starts accepting payments on August 11, 2020.

You can pay as the funds become available to you, as long as the payment is made in full within the term you are enrolled. Should you choose this route, you will be subject to late fees of 1.75% on balances 30 or more days past due. You will receive communications, holds and restrictions, that accompany late payments. Check your BSC email frequently in order to stay current with academic and financial communications as well as College events. How do I sign into my Email? •

What You Need to Know Course Drop/Withdraw Course Drop If you are taking more than one class at Bismarck State College and would like to drop one class BUT continue enrollment in other class(es), you must complete the drop in CampusConnection.

Withdraw to Zero Credits CampusConnection will NOT allow you to drop your ONLY or LAST class. If you decide not to attend this class, you as the student are responsible for officially withdrawing from college.

What You Need to Know View Grades Final grades will be viewable in CampusConnection after they have been entered by faculty and posted by the Academic Records Office. Grades will be available approximately 5 business days after the last day of final exams.

What You Need to Know Obtain Mystic Card ACTION ITEM 1. Obtain your Mystic ID Card The Mystic card is your official college identification card to be used for services such as dining, bookstore purchases, library, campus activities, local business discounts, Aquatic and Wellness Center and Mystic Print. There is no charge for the first Mystic ID Card. ID cards do not expire as long as you are a BSC student.

Options for obtaining your Mystic ID Card Option 1 – Order online

Order Now Students must provide: • •

Full name, BSC email and Date of Birth Upload the following: o Headshot photo (passport style (plain white background, smiling is accepted) o Picture of a Photo ID (driver’s license, military ID, etc.) o Picture of current class schedule

Option 2 – In person Get your Mystic Card at the Campus Information Desk located next to the BSC Bookstore in the upper level of the Student Union. Students must present: • • •

What You Need to Know Emergency Contact Information ACTION ITEM 1. Complete Emergency Contact Information Emergency contact information is extremely important in the event of an accident or medical emergency. The person(s) you list will be contacted if you have a health or safety emergency. You must enter a parent/guardian, spouse, family member or other trusted individual as your emergency contact.

What You Need to Know Request Official Transcript You may request an Official Transcript with any credits you earned through Bismarck State College while in High School. Bismarck State College has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide official transcript ordering online. This service will allow you to order official transcripts via the web anytime. In addition to the automated ordering service, you will also be able to track your order status, receive timely email notices regarding your transcript request, as well as review your order status history.
