TO LIVE IN A RESIDENCE HALL If you submit your housing application before April 1, 2023 you can: Participate in the Online Room Selection process (April 1-19). As a reminder, the 2024-25 Residence Hall Room & Board License Contract is for full academic year (Aug 23, 2024 - May 16, 2025).

Roommate (optional): BSC uses a roommate matching program called

My College Roomie.

After you complete your housing application, an invitation is sent to your email address on file (your school address), asking you to create a profile in My College Roomie. Match up with someone you know or someone new. In order to “match” and be confirmed as roommates, you and your preferred roommate must mutually request one another. Make sure your roommate is selected at least 24–48 hours prior to the scheduled room selection times.

(Please note: Your ability to log into MCR will not be active until the invitation email is sent; typically one or two business days after completion of your housing application.)

You are not required to select a roommate but have the opportunity if you so choose!

Important Housing Sign-up Dates:

Phase 1: License Agreement Submission...................................................... April 1-12 Phase 2: Room Selection ............................................................................ April 15-19

PHASE ONE

ONLINE LICENSE AGREEMENT SUBMISSION Starts Monday, April 1 at 8 a.m. through Friday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. If you wish to live in a residence hall next year, this step is a must. You must submit the BSC Residence Hall Room & Board License Contract for next year online. Agreeing to the terms of your contract will allow you to complete the rest of the sign-up process. StarLorem ipsum

• Log on to your Housing Self-Service page (go to bismarckstate.edu, choose Student Life, then Housing Options). • Under Applications/Contracts choose the BSC Residence Hall Room & Board License Contract, read the terms, agree by signing or entering your name.

*Please note: THIS PHASE DOES NOT COMPLETE the entire process. Phase one is a prerequisite for the other phase.

PHASE TWO

ROOM SELECTION Starts Monday April 15 at 8 a.m. through Friday, April 19 at 4 p.m. Phase Two of New Incoming Student Housing Sign-Up allows students to select any room on campus that is still available, this selection also lets you pull in your matched roommate (if applicable). Please keep in mind the roommate will need to choose you too to be placed together. Matches need to be done in My College Roomie at least 48 hours prior to this date. You will be given a start time based on the date that your application was first received when you applied for housing. • Log on to your Housing Self-Service page (go to bismarckstate.edu, choose Student Life, then Housing Options). Under Room Selection, choose appropriate room selection process.

• Under “Room Selection,” “Select a Room or Suite,” then select a room from the floor plan option or the room list option.

*Please note: Only the spaces that are still available at the time of your login (and for which you are eligible) will be listed online during this step. If you are paired with a roommate, when one of you selects a room the other is automatically assigned to that same room. If you have an “unmatched” roommate request, you will not be able to select a room. The roommate request must be matched or withdrawn prior to selecting room.

FAQ Where do I log on?

To access the Online features:

1. Bismarckstate.edu, select Student Life, then Housing Options, click Housing Self-Service link 2. Log into Campus Connection, select Student Self-Service, then On-Campus Housing.

Why do I get a “cannot display page” or “timed out due to inactivity” when logging on through Campus Connection?

If you get an error message, read the instructions listed on the page just before selecting your institution (the page immediately after selection On-Campus Housing). Your browser needs to be set to accept cookies. Follow the instructions on the web page and it should correct the issue. Is the Residence Hall license contract for the Fall semester only?

No, the license contract is for the full academic year (Aug 23, 2024- May 16, 2025) What if I decide not to live in the residence hall after I sign up for a room?

If you decide, you may cancel your residence hall 30 days prior to move in without a $100 cancellation fee will be assessed; however, terms under SBHE policy 830.2 may apply in cancellations made within 30 days prior to the designated move in day and if BSC is unable to find someone to take over the reserved and contracted space. What if I want a roommate who is not a returning hall student?

You may select a new student as your roommate if they have been accepted to BSC and have applied for housing. They would need to agree to the terms of the BSC Residence Hall Room & Board License Contract and you both need to choose each other as your roommate. Once you choose a new student as your roommate and you select a room, you may not change your mind and choose someone else. New students have room selection after returners, so by you choosing them in this process, you have given them the privilege of an earlier room selection and it is not your right to take it away, make sure your roommate is who you want. When will I find out my room selection time?

Room selection times will be made available on or around March 24 when the Online license agreement phase is over. Can I request a single room?

There are limited single rooms available on campus; they are used for specific circumstances. If you require a single room, check with the Office of Student and Residence Life for procedure. Due to space limitations, double rooms cannot be reserved as singles. How do I select a roommate?

Simply log in My College Roomie (bsc.mycollegeroomie.app), complete a profile, answer some questions, then request to match up with your preferred roommate. If you would like someone new, you will be able to look at other students’ profiles and see your percentages of compatibility so you can send messages to any or all of your matches to connect further. Then you can request each other as roommates if you wish. The selection process is not immediate so select your roommate at least 48 hours prior to room selection. Can I select more than one roommate?

Yes, but keep the following in mind: If you are matched with more roommates then a room can hold, you will not be able to select that room without dropping the extra roommate(s).

If I am matched with a roommate, which one of us should select the room?

When one matched roommate selects a room, the other matched roommate is automatically assigned. Therefore, to have the best opportunity to select a desired location, the roommate with the earliest selection time should log in and select a room. What if I miss a deadline but still want to participate in Housing Sign-Up?

Contact the Office of Student and Residence life immediately. Some accommodations may be made so that you can still participate. However, you may find that you do not have as many options for room selection as those who met the listed deadlines. What if I change my mind later?

When you select a room, your assignment is made. Beginning April 22, you may contact the Office of Student and Residence life to see if any options for other locations are available to you. I’m logged in, but why can’t I see (or select) any rooms for a particular hall?

If you are unable to see any rooms in a hall, it is for one of several reasons: 1. There are no rooms left to select 2. You are matched with more roommates than the remaining rooms can accommodate 3. You have not agreed to the terms of the BSC Residence Hall Room & Board License Contract. Additionally, you will be unable to choose a room if you designated selection time has not yet arrived.
