MISS MEGAN I was introduced to dance at the age of 2 and became serious about ballet as a potential career by the age of 11.
I began assistant
teaching as a student when I was 14, so I have been educating in the studio for 13 years. At 17, I moved away from home and danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and the Washington Ballet before deciding to attend college. I received a degree from Harvard University and then found myself back in the studio teaching. I realized at this point that teaching was my whole reason for dancing. I live for the experience of watching the kids learn and improve themselves. I love teaching ballet to this age where, I believe, everything they learn can only make their lives better.
“I concentrate a lot while I am dancing!

When I watch you dance, it makes me feel in awe. Your enthusiasm and joy while you dance is so heart warming. I am so proud of you for always trying your best. My greatest wish for you would be is to always know how much you are loved and continue to find joy in life the way you do in ballet.... LOVE, MOM AND DAD

“My favorite day was when Miss Megan spinned me around because it was my birthday.
The syllabi covered working at the barre with coupĂŠ and passĂŠ, in the center we worked on port de bras (carriage of the arms), pliĂŠs (bending of the knees) and working both in sixth (parallel) and first (turned out) position. The way you present yourself is important in the ballet world. A dancer must show respect with her posture. I remember when I was a young student, there was a dancer next to me that was kicked out of class for leaning against the barre. I make sure the kids learn right away that they should not touch the barre unless used for the combination!

When I watch you dance, it makes me feel so happy that you’re happy! I am so proud of you for wanting to do your best. My greatest wish for you would be always be as happy as you are when you’re dancing with your friends! LOVE, MOM
The class has come far during this school year in terms of their ability to memorize the combination of steps and their musicality. The dances they present can now be done all on their own. These dances require them to remember the technique we have been working on, work with a partner, be aware spatially and memorize the sequence of steps. I am very proud of how far the girls have come in terms of their musicality which will help them as dancers but also can make their enjoyment of music throughout their life much more pleasant. This group is beautifully focused and driven. I have loved seeing their desire to improve and joy of learning.
