Downtown Portland’s strides to be a socially equitable region has yet to resolve it’s homogeneous demographic that continually pushes marginalized groups to the edge. Partnering with IRCO, we seek to embed BIPOC presence into the urban fabric to claim space for marginalized communities. Polyphony is an entrepreneurship and cultural celebration proposal to build a more diverse business class in Portland. The intersectionality and intermingling of diverse persepctives aims to uplift and provide equitable opportunities for refugee and immigrant communities to bring their ideas into fruition.

Retrouvaillesis a French word that roughly translates to ‘reunion,’ but has a deeper meaning about a moment that is not bound by the limitations of the linear progression of time. The emotion is described as a moment that feels like an eternity and a brief moment at the same time. In designing a crematprium, we aimed to capture the weight and gravity of the final reunion of life and death that will last only a moment, but live on for eternity. This is captured through the intersection of the two linear paths created in our building; one meant for the mounerning family members, and one meant for the final journy of the deceased body.

Located in Manhatten’s Chelsea neighborhood, RobArt blurs the boundary between the public and private experiences on the neighboring highline by exploring the sites history in manufacturing and a vibrant art culture; merging these historical elements through artist & engineering resideces and studios with spaces for public engagement , exhibition, and education.
