At the outset, it is my immense pleasure to read the cultural report for the year 2017-18. To bring out the hidden talent of the students, the cultural committee of the college has conducted many cultural and academic events during the year 2017-18.
• Teacher's day celebration was held in the college
Audio visual room on 7th September 2017 with a welcome speech from the Principal Dr. M. Jayappa and many of the teachers highlighted the role of teachers in modern society and spoke on,
Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan on this occasion. All the teachers' service is appreciated by giving a small gift as a token of gratitude and the function concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prathap,
Vice-Principal.
• Ganesha pooja was held in the college in a colorful manner on 31st August 2017.
• Alumni Meet was held in the college on 9th September 2017 to interact with alumni and to welcome their ideas about the development of an institution.
• The Talents Day program was organized in the college on the 21st & 22nd of September 2017. and identified the winners of the various events from different courses. • Indra Dhanush, Ram, Vishnupriya and team and many students at our college from different courses have participated in an intercollegiate cultural fest of other colleges including RC College, Cauvery College, St.
Aloysius, St. Joseph's evening college, APS evening college, St. Annes' college, Indian academy, Kerala Niketan, and many reputed colleges in the city.
• Dhanush, Vishnu Priya, and the team got overall champion in RC college, overall champion runner up in Cauvery college and won the prize in 4 events at St. Joseph evening college, 8 winners in St. Aloysius college, 1 winner in APS college, 3 winners in St. Anne's college, 3 winners in Indian academy college and finally 2 in Kerala Niketan college.
• A one-day Inter-collegiate Kalanjali Fest 2018 was held in the college on 6th April 2018, and we are happy to inform around 20 colleges in the city and outside the city participated Rs. 50,000 cash prizes were given to all the winners of the various events such as group dance, solo dance, ice breaker, and fashion show.
• In the Ice-breaker event, the first prize went to the Central college Farheen Taj & group, the second prize went to Sacred Heart's First
Grade College Varalakshmi & group, and the third prize went to St. Aloysius degree college Charan C & Group.
• In the solo dance competition, the first prize went to Bharath from Arts college Ooty, the second prize went to John Melvin, Al-Ameen college, and the third prize went to Sathish
Vijay College.
• In the Group Dance competition, the first prize went to Mathew & group, Indo Asian college, the second prize went to Nejuma and group St. Aloysius college, and the third prize went to Balaji & group SSMRV College.
• In the Fashion Show competition, the first prize went to Nishanka & group Darshan college, the second prize went to Manoj & group
MES Institution of Management, and the third prize went to Ayesha and Group Sacred
Hearts college.
The program was a milestone for our institution, and it was completed successfully up to the satisfaction of the Principal, staff, and management.
• Graduation Day was organized in the college on 3rd
April 2018.
• The last event for the academic year 2017-18 was college day and was held on 4th April 2018 the chief guests for the function were • Sri Sashindar M. Narrain Hon. Secretary, RBANMS Educational charities • Smt. Pratibha Saunshimath Mrs. Asia International and Mrs. India • Sri Srivatsa Nadig editor of Vijaya Karnataka.
• Our institution also conducted a one-day National Level Seminar on GST on 7th November 2017.
• Dr. Agarwal’s free eye checkup camp was also held on 9th September 2017.
• Many other programs were also organized in the college for the academic year 2017-18.
On behalf cultural committee, I thank our Principal Dr. M. Jayappa and our management for their continuous support and motivation to have such programs in the college.
I also thank staff members for their continuous support to complete all cultural and academic activities for 2017-18 successfully. I also thank cultural committee members Dr. Shankar, Priya, Pavithra, and Savitha for their continuous support in conducting and making the 2017-18 cultural activities a grand success. I also thank the nonteaching staff for their support and sound system Govindaraj for the excellent arrangement to conduct the events for the year 2017-18 successfully.

1/2 Coy 1 KAR BN NCC Unit Annual NCC repor t
RBANMs First Grade College NCC Unit, under 1/2 COY, 1 KAR BN NCC with the completion of 22 successful years, has stepped into the 23rd year to achieve the aims of NCC amongst the cadets with the effort of ANO (Associated NCC Officer) Lieutenant Parthasarathy. The NCC unit of college (Army Wing) has stepped into 23rd year, enrolling 15 Senior Division and 9 Senior tiling cadets for 1st year on l0th August 2017, and retaining the 10 second year and 18 third year cadets, whereby on enrolled strength stands at 52 cadets.
All cadets were trained for Independence Day, CATC, TSC, NIC, RDC and various adventure camps took.
Activities (Army Wing)
• On 18th April 2017, 03 cadets were trained on
Traffic Management Capsule organized by CMP center, Bangalore.
• International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2017 and 37 cadets participated and performed
Yoga at Kanteerava Stadium and 7 cadets participated and performed yoga at Art of Living,
Kanakapura.
• On 9th September 2017, OS cadets participated in
Bangalore Marathon.
• On 15th July 2017, 20 cadets participated in the
Flag Area competition on the theme "Happy India -
Skill India" organized by Gopalan Skill Academy.
Vijay Diwas program held at 'Indira Gandhi Park near Raj Bhavan'.
• 70th Independence Day (15th Aug 2017) was celebrated by our cadets and the program was presided over by our Principal Dr. M. Jayappa in the presence of other professors, staff, and ex-cadets of our institution.
• On 30th Aug 2017, 21 cadets volunteered SIVUS
INDIA PROGRAM, organized for "Para-Athletes' with intellectual disabilities held at Kanteerava
Stadium.
• On 8 Sep 2017, 28 cadets took part in the D6 (Director General) NCC visit held at Christ
University.
• On 9th Sep 2017, 20 cadets took part in the 5K walkathon and Jagrithi 2017 organized by the
CIPIR Institute of Management Studies.
• On 26 Sep 2017, the NCC unit of St. Francis De-
Sales college organized Contingent Fest-2017 and inter-collegiate drill competition. Our 9+1 Senior division cadets participated and won Second place in the competition and 20 cadets took part in various competitions as part of Contingent Fest2017.
• On 28 Sep 2017, all cadets, teaching and nonteaching staff ANO, and principal performed
Saraswathi Pooja and Ayudha Pooja at the NCC office.
• On 2 October 2017, Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated by our cadets, staff, and Head of the institution.
• On 16th Oct 2017, 15 SD Cadets took part in the
Firing training program held at MEG Centre,
Bangalore.
• On 19th October 2017, the Swachh Bharath program was conducted on the campus and 20 saplings were planted by the head of the Institution and other staff.
• On 7th November 2017, GST, One Day National
Seminar was organized by our college, our 4+1 cadets performed piloting to the Chief guests and 10 cadets volunteered as part of the program
• On 12th November 2017, 10 Cadets took part as a mark of respect given to the Soldiers who sacrificed their lives in India-China WAR-1962 at Indira
Gandhi Park near Raj Bhavan.
• On 12th January 2018, 25 cadets took a walk from
Swami Vivekananda Park near MEG Centre to
Ramakrishna Mutt, Ulsoor as a part of "National
Youth Day" and to mark the Birthday of Swami
Vivekananda'
• On 22 January 2018, the NCC unit of Vijaya College organized an Inter-college NCC competition, 16 cadets participated in various competitions.
• On 26th Jan 18, 61st Republic Day was celebrated by all our cadets and ex-cadets. The event was presided over by our principal Dr. M. Jayappa, and other professors, staff, and students took part in the celebration. On the occasion, cadets were given rank upgradation as a mark of appreciation for their efforts put forth throughout the year.
• On 18th and 19th February 2018, NCC 'B'
Certificate Examination was conducted in Army
Public School by our unit 1 KAR BN NCC and 10 (07 SD. + 03 SW) cadets took up the exam.
• On 25th and 26th February 2018, NCC 'C' certificate Examination was conducted at RV
College of Engineering and 18 (72 SD + o6 SW) cadets from our college took up the exam.
• On 06th April 2018 our cadets were the active volunteers of the disciplinary committee for the
Inter-Collegiate fest - Kalanjali 2018.

Technology from 22nd July 17 to, 31st July 2017. • Sgt Chaitra B has won Second place in the thrown ball inter-group competition.
• Three cadets attended Army Attachment Training
Camp held at /YIB6 Centre, Bangalore from 6th
Sep 17 to 15th Sep 17. • L/Cpl Alex Pandian N • L/Cpl Koushal Kumar M • L/Cpl Manoj J. cadets (05 SD + 06 SW) attended Combined Annual Training Camp held at Jalahalli from 21st Oct 17 to 31st Oct 2017.

Trekking Camp held at Tumakuru from loth March 18th to 19th March 2017.
• One of our cadet attended the Inter-Group
Competition (IGC) & CATC held at Hoskote between 20th to 29th October 2016.
Special achievements for 2017-18
A SW Cadet, SGT John Olivia Mary A of III-year. B.Com was selected for TSC-I and TSC-II and attended Pre-TSC Camp held at Tumakuru. TSC -I: 13th June 2017 to 22nd June 2017 TSC -II: 31st July 2017 to 09th Aug 2017.
• Four cadets were selected for State Republic Day
Inter Group Competition held at Moodbidri organized by NCC Group HQ, Mangalore in association with Alva's Education Foundation (R),
Moodbidri, and Won First Place in Drill

Our NCC unit has succeeded in building the character of its cadets and in channelizing their energies toward nation-building activities and has produced several cadets with 'S' & 'C' certificates which has been an inspiration and moral boost for the upcoming students to join in NCC and enthusiastically take up more challenges and achievements.

Annual NSS repor t
• NSS unit of our college was established in 1989.
• For the academic year 2017-2018,105 students enrolled their names to NSS after the admission of first-year degree courses in July 2017.
• On 12th August 2017, there was an NSS inauguration in the college by our principal. Our principal gave a motivational speech for NSS students about its importance.
• On 14th August 2017, the first NSS activity was campus cleaning on the eve of Independence Day.
The 71st Independence Day celebration started with flag hoisting in college by our principal Dr. M.
Jayappa with vice principal Prof. Prathap.
• On 15th September 2017, Herbal Garden was inaugurated by our Principal and other Senior faculties by planting few organic and medicinal plants to enhance the Go Green concept.
• On 11th & 12th January 2018, NSS students participated in senior for Sr. Nivedita Birth
Anniversary at Ramakrishna Mutt, Ulsoor were conducted on Youth India on Yuva India Rally was also conducted from Ulsoor Lake to the ashram. • On 26th January 2018, Republic Day was celebrated by hoisting the flag in our college by our principal & vice principal.
• On 28th January 2018, around 30 students from
NSS attended first pulse polio program.
• On 11th March 2018, around 30 students attended the second pulse polio program.
• On 4th April 2018, NSS students cleaned the college campus for Kalanjali Fiesta. • Between April 8 to 14th 2018, a special camp was organized at Jnanabharathi Campus, NSS Bhavan,

• Chess, football, and cricket selections for the college team were conducted in August.
• Inter-class chess competitions were organized in the 3rd week of August 2017.

• Inter-class Tennis Ball Cricket tournament was organized in the last week of August 2017.
• Our college team participated in the St.
John's Medical College Football Tournament in September 2017.
• Marian Stanly from III B.Com. participated in the Bangalore University Intercollegiate Boxing Competitions and won 2nd Place in the 2nd week of September 2017. the Bangalore University Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in the 2nd week of October 2017.
• 21 football players participated in the Reliance
Foundation Tournament in the months of October and November 2017.
• Our college team participated in the SJCC Football Tournament. Eight students at our college participated in the Bangalore University Selection trials and two students namely, Nanda Kumar from II B.Com. and Sujith Kumar from I
Tournament and one student by the name of
Gangadorai was selected as standby.
• Two students at our college participated in the
Bangalore University Cricket Selections in the last week of October 2017.
• This academic year, with the help of UGC and the management we were able to construct a
Basketball court.
University Cricket for women from 2nd November 2017 to 7th November 2017.
University Hockey for Men from 22nd January 2018 to 28th January 2018.
• Inter-class Carrom Singles competitions were conducted for both Boys and Girls during February 2018.
• Our college cricket team participated in the Bangalore University Inter-Collegiate Cricket tournament in the 3rd week of February 2018. • College Annual Athletic Meet was organized on 22nd February 2018 at our college grounds.
• Our college organized the North, South, and Inter-Zone Bangalore University Inter-collegiate
Football Tournament for boys from 13th to 17th
March 2018.34 teams participated from both zones.
• Our college team participated in the Bangalore
University Inter-Collegiate Tournament during the 2nd week of March 2018.
• Inter-class throwball competitions for girls and volleyball and kabaddi for boys were conducted in April 2018. 22.
• Inter-Class carrom doubles competitions were conducted for girls in April 2018.
• The Inter-class Basket Ball competition was conducted in the last week of April 2018 24.
M.R. Shashidhara was elected as Gen. Secretary of the Bangalore University College Teachers'
Association (BUCTA) in April 2017.
