WHO WE ARE
Sarah Bos
graduated as a Master in Fashion design at the KASK Fashion Academy in Gent. She also attended several workshops amongst others “jewelry design” and “fashion illustration” at the College of Fashion in London and a course “handbag design” at the PCVO Waas en Durme in Lokeren.
Cleo Baele
graduated “shoes and handbag design” at the PCVO Waas en Durme in Lokeren. She also attended a training “shoe design” at the SASK in Sint-Niklaas, and several workshops at the College of Fashion in London, as well a course “Orthopedics” in Sint-Niklaas. Her previous study was “photography”.
Together they form the creative brain behind this young label from Ghent (Belgium), where they create their own world, the world of Black Balloon: a trendy label of clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women, inspired by a mix of music and emotions. The men and woman-collections of this duo combine female and tough elements, simply yet edgy, with an eye for detail and refinement, “nouveau chic” as they like to call it. A total concept from top to toe! Their graduate collection resulted in the prestigious Fred and Ginger price for the most promising collection. Their atypical way of working and creations already got a lot of visibility in the national and international press.

Next to their handmade & made to measure collection and their premium collection they also have a new prêt-aporter . Especially basic pieces that one can style as one pleases, which resulted in the collection’s name Pick & Play . Pick & Play is a collection of separates which can be combined together to create completely different outfits! A total concept that allows a rapid and easy outfit change by switching add-ons… Pick & Play… Black Balloon’s designs fit’s everybody and every occasion!

Design B2B WHAT?
Black Balloon designs prints, uniforms, made to measure or other concepts, everytime with an eye for the clients style & demand. The duo already worked for some established companies like the International Interior Design Biennial . The hosts and hostesses of each edition of the international Interior Design Biennial are clothed by a Belgian designer. Uniforms have on previous occasions been designed by Walter Van Beirendonck, Kaat Tilley and Xavier Delcour. Black Balloon has been chosen for the Interior 2010 uniform. For the Interior Design Biennial 2010, Sarah and ClĂŠo are exploring the boundaries between design and fashion: where does fashion stop and design begin, and vice-versa. The challenge was to try and integrate specific elements from the design phase of both worlds, taking functionality, wearability and morphology into account. Their prints for this project are therefore a sly wink to the backstage of the design world.

“THE BLACK COLLECTION” BY BLACK BALLOON: ‘Greeting from…’ The Black collection, the duo's second premium line is colourful, a total concept, with custom-made prints as a base of this collection.
The designers have found inspiration in their roots, their memories of family get together and summer holiday photos. It seems that passion for music and the joy for life are in these two girls genes! The result is a special mini collection featuring bold designs and cuts, "nouveau chique", as they like to call it, a continuity in Black Balloon's collections. Some simple some complex, but every time with that extra va-vavoom. As if there’s music in their designs and they turned it up a notch!

“THE BLACK COLLECTION” BY BLACK BALLOON: 'Coucou de…' The Black collection, la deuxieme ligne premium du duo, est a nouveau un concept total, plein de couleurs dans lequel des imprimés ingénieux fait maison forment la base. Pour cette collection, les designers ont trouvé leur inspiration dans leurs propres racines, des mémoires de fêtes de famille et des photos de vacances. La passion pour la musique et leur joie de vivre semblent incrustées dans les gènes de ces deux jeunes filles. Résultat? Des motifs risqués et un style "nouveau chique", des éléments familiers dans la collection de Black Balloon.

Celebrity dressinG handmade & made to measure collection They already designed a collection of shoes and accessories for Soulwax (aka 2many dj’s), and Arno (Le Chevalier des Arts) seduced the stage in a complete Black Balloon outfit. Barbara Sarafian (Belgian actress, known from the Oscar nominated movie “Bullhead”) could be admired in a Black Balloon party dress on the recent Flemish Oscars “Nacht van de TV-sterren”. Baloji former rapper with Starflam is touring the world with his solo project in a Black Balloon outfit! Recently An Pierlé, the wild child behind a piano, was seen in an outfit on national tv. For Willow’s new single 'Sweater' they were glad to do a collaboration with the boys. they customized three sweaters for them and the fans were able to win them through different competitions.
