elcome to JIPT 2019! This is the premiere shooting event put on by the Jamaica Rifle Association each year. Our mandate is to promote target shooting, and over the past nine years we have used this match as a showcase of the best talent in the world and an investment towards the growth of practical shooting locally. No surprise that the investment has yielded fruit. After countless boot camps, training sessions and mission debriefs, we can see the maturity in our competitors, administrators and overall match quality. This event brings out the best in us, and we look forward to it every year. We are pleased to welcome the local and overseas contingent of competitors. Ten stages have been setup, with several paying homage to Mr. Clint Eastwood, an American movie maker. It is our hope that they prove to be challenging and exciting. JIPT is the work of many volunteers, whom we thank them for their tireless contribution. There is a deep sense of pride that is felt towards this match and evidenced by all that is done to make things just right. This is a volunteer sport, but our volunteers mean serious business. Thanks to our sponsors, loyal contributors to the sport we love, who help us put on this spectacular event. Some have been with us from the very first edition of this competition. As they continue to help us grow our sport, we do ask that you give kind consideration to their products, knowing they exercised a choice in placing their sponsorship dollars with us. As usual I recommend happy hunting to our competitors. Push yourselves over the ten stages. If you fall, brush it off and focus on the next stage. That’s the game. Maintain your status as gentlemen and ladies. Play hard, play fair and be good sportsmen! Andrew R. Gardner Match Director, JIPT 2019 President, Jamaica Rifle Association

elcome to the 2019 Jamaica Invitational Pistol Tournament. This match is the premier event on the local Practical Pistol match calendar, as it offers the opportunity for the local fraternity to match skills against Internationally ranked competitors right here on the grounds of the JRA. This year it is our great pleasure and honor to have so many overseas persons in all divisions, as our guests, RO’s and competitors at the match. JIPT continues to raise the standard of our local Practical Pistol competition. The sport continues to grow locally, and as we look to the year ahead and continued development of the Practical Pistol Program, our ability to attract new members will be a critical measure of success. The exposure of our sport by this match and the presence of our invited guests are an invaluable contributor to this process. We also wish to thank the members of the Pistol Group who have dedicated their time and efforts during the year to the weekly match set up, RO duties and match administration. Your efforts have provided the foundation of the sport and the ability of the club to host this event. We know a lot of hard work has gone into preparing for this match, and with the competition promising to be intense, the stages will be both challenging and fun to shoot, and the event promises to be a great shooting experience for all. Many thanks as well to the generous contributions of the staff and volunteers who have made this match possible. The staff of RO’s, CRO’s, Stats Officers, Club members and support people all donated hundreds of hours of their time and effort to make this event a success, and we thank you for your contribution. We wish you all the best of luck and hope that you enjoy the match.

ccording to the CliffJamaica.com “[Negril] Known as the “Capital of Casual” for its come-as-you-are lifestyle, Negril was initially put on the tourism map by hippie “flower children” and budget backpackers in the 1960s. Today, the mentality remains the same and everything from budget accommodations to fivestar resorts can be found dotting the beachfront town.” Hearing the name west end brings peace and relaxation to the mind of many. If you seeking a etherial location on the rock, to which you can escape from the world’s pressures, Negril is the poster child. But how and when did this seven mile strip become so famous among locals and tourists alike? It was actually underdeveloped for many years, only accessed by fishermen who needed a quick stop or quiet place to off-load and attempt another catch before dusk. Surprisingly, it wasn’t until the year 1977 that international tourism really exploded in Negril, with the opening of the first resort. By the 1980s, the location began experiencing the height of its tourism influx, which it continues to enjoy today. From modest ‘red floor’ accommodations to opulent five-star services and magical private caves in which one can enjoy dishes prepared by world-class chefs, Negril has it ALL. Jamaica’s west was won, by way of it’s breathtaking landscapes, boho lifestyle and crystal clear waters. If you are yet to be convinced, or pay this unprecidented location another visit, simply do a quick Google search using the keywords ‘Negril Sunset’ page 20

Celebrating 150 years of legendary excellence
Few decisions are as important as selecting your personal defense ammunition. Winchester developed the W Train & Defend system with full metal jacket training ammo (T) ballistically matched with jacketed hollow point Defend ammo (D).. Winchester Train & Defend ammunition offers less recoil with the threatstopping power needed when it counts.
