Carmen Conrad

I competed in the Open and Reining divisions with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team this year. Some of my favorite memories include making it to semifinals as a freshman and going to Pamona, Calif., to compete. Next year, I plan to finish my equine degree at Black Hawk College. I would like to give a special thanks to my grandparents for all of their support and for getting me started in this crazy horse hobby! Heather has been a solid competitor on the team and has consistently contributed to the success of the team in the top division. We would like to thank her for her dedication and willingness to loan Sassy to us for practices and at home shows!

Howards Grove, Wis.

While on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team, I was able to ride and compete in the Novice, Advanced and finally the Open divisions. My favorite memories include traveling to California for semifinals as well as nationals in the novice division as freshman. This summer I was able to take an internship with Julie Voge at Voge Quarter Horses in Texas. My future plans are to attend West Texas A&M University for a degree in ag communications and media. Thank you to my family and friends for all of their support throughout college. Also, I would like to thank my horse trainer, Sandy, for helping me before college. We would like to thank Carmen for her leadership and commitment to the IHSA Team. She has done an outstanding job bringing together the sophomore and freshmen team members!

Agatha Dumford Syracuse, Ind.

I rode in the Open Horsemanship division as a freshman and sophomore. My favorite part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team was getting to know more people and developing relationships that will last a lifetime. I also enjoyed learning to ride a variety of horses on different patterns. My highlight was winning my first Open Horsemanship class at Missouri State University, it was a great feeling. My future plans are to train horses and give lessons at a newly built equine facility in Franklin, Tenn. I would like to thank my mother, father and grandparents (Bob and Sue Dumford) for all of their support! The IHSA Team would like to thank Aggie for her dedication and commitment to the team. She was a tremendous asset in the Open division this year. -9-

Nikki Farina

Jordan Goodwin

McHenry, Ill.

I competed in the Intermediate division on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team this year. My favorite experience with the team was qualifying for regionals at the Black Hawk College show and then being able to compete at regionals as well. My internship included working for Tommy Sheets Quarter Horses. I plan to complete a second internship then continue on to the Art Institute of Schaumberg. Special thanks to my parents for supporting me and being there whenever they are able. The IHSA Team would like to acknowledge Nikki’s relentless efforts both in improving her horsemanship and in preparing horses for the shows. We are only as good as our horses, and Nikki certainly brought Doda to the arena well-prepared! Ashley Hansen

Wanatah, Ind.

On the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team this year, I rode in the Advanced and Novice divisions. My favorite memory during this time was making it to semifinals and being a two-time regional qualifier. The trips are always fun as well, I would never know what to expect when we left as a team! My internship took me down to Green Cove Springs, Fla., where I had the opportunity to work for Byron Forehand Barrel Horses. Riding and training futurity barrel horses is something that I plan to continue with in the future. I want to thank my parents for being there all the way for me. I would also like to thank Scotty at Top Tier Fitness for getting me in shape. We would like to thank Jordan for his relentless efforts getting fit, improving his horsemanship and helping the team with the program and other assignments. We would also like to thank him for driving too!

Muscatine, Iowa

While riding for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team, I competed in the Novice and Advanced divisions. A few of my favorite memories with the team include teaching Brooke how to use Twitter and qualifying for nationals in the novice division this year at Findlay. Next year my plans include attending West Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in animal science. I would like to say thank you to all the individuals who helped put on the Black Hawk College IHSA shows, as well as my family for being such a huge support! We would like to thank Ashley for being a positive role model and recruiter for Black Hawk College. She has grown tremendously in her horsemanship and works tirelessly to be her best!

Alyssa Knaack Galesburg, Ill.

This year I competed on Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team in the Beginner and Intermediate I divisions. One of my favorite memories during this time was qualifying for regionals and pointing out of the Beginner division. Last spring I worked on an internship for Beutenmiller Cutting Horses, where I plan to return and begin work as a full-time loper. We would like to thank Alyssa for being a solid supporter of the beginner riders in practice and in building confidence at the shows!

Ashley Mann Wenona, Ill.

While riding for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team, I competed in the Intermediate and Novice divisions. Placing in the top 10 at regionals and having the opportunity to ride a variety of horses is one of my favorite memories. While on internship, I worked for V2 Reining Horses in Davenport, Iowa, where I plan to continue my work as well as teach youth and ride talented horses at Veritas Stables. Thank you to my parents for their on-going support. We appreciate Ashley’s dedication and consistency on the team for two years!

Jamie Mueller Reynolds, Ill.

While competing on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team, I rode in both the Intermediate and Novice divisions. A highlight to my career was qualifying for nationals this year. One of my favorite memories was riding on Brooke’s bus to regionals, attempting to keep up with the other bus -- “I need to over under this bus! Everyone in two point!” Next year I plan to transfer to Iowa State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science and eventually continuing on to Iowa State’s veterinary program. I would like to thank my parents for traveling all the way to Ohio and Pennsylvania to watch me compete and also all of my teammates who made me push myself all year, especially in the end. We would like to thank Jamie for allowing us to use Josie at practice and at the shows. Josie is as solid as they come, just like Jamie! Codi Reed

Woodhull, Ill.

Riding for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team allowed me to compete in the Beginner and Intermediate divisions. Traveling to California where I rode for the team, as well as qualifying for regionals in Missouri, are some of my favorite memories. I am looking forward to completing the veterinary tech program at Black Hawk College in the future. Special thanks to my family and friends for all of their continued support of my completion of the equestrian program at Black Hawk College. We would especially like to thank Codi for her positive attitude and creativity in decorating the draw and awards tables at our shows!

Erica Prchal Rockford, Ill.

This was my first year with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team, and I competed as a beginner. My favorite memory was going to semifinals with the team in Findlay, Ohio. For my internship, I was able to work for Sunlight Farms in Sallisaw, Okla. In the future, I plan to move to Oklahoma and work for a breeding facility. I would like to say thank you to my family who constantly supported me during my entire college experience! We would like to thank Erica for her commitment and willingness to compete on the team! Her confidence and consistency was the foundation for our team success finishing the season! Aly Schleis

Reynolds, Ill.

This year I rode in the Novice and Intermediate divisions for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team. A highlight of my IHSA experience was qualifying for regionals and all of the fun the team had on the trips. Outside of the show team, my favorite memory at Black Hawk College is working with my project horse Sidney. Last year I went on an internship at Welhouse Horses and Hounds in Poynette, Wis. In the fall, I will transfer to West Texas A&M University. I would especially like to thank Scotty from Top Tier Fitness. We love you! We would like to thank Aly for her willingness to wait the bench and push our Intermediate division riders to be their personal best. Aly was also a stellar announcer for us at home meets! Thank you for being such a good team player!

Gabi Schuler

Cambridge, Wis.

This year I was able to compete on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Team as a Beginner rider. My favorite memory is being able to qualify for nationals this year. Last spring I had the opportunity to go on an internship with Craig Morris Cutting Horses of Fort Worth, Texas. In the future, I plan to further my knowledge and experience in the horse industry and eventually have my own lesson and boarding barn. I would like to say thank you to my dad and stepmom. I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of the great opportunities that Black Hawk College has given me without you. Your love and support has allowed me to become the person I am today. Thank you. The IHSA Team would like to thank Gabi for being a solid team player in her quest for qualifying. She was a major contributor to the team this season!
