Horse Judging Awards & Scholarships Susan Shipp Memorial Scholarship (Freshmen Horse Judging) .............................................................................. TBA This award is given in memory of Susan, a transfer student who lost her life in a car accident while a student at BHE in November, 1994. It is awarded to a member of the freshmen horse judging team. The selection is based on contest results, an essay about their personal characteristics and first semester GPA.

Pard’s Western Store Work Horse Award (Sophomore Horse Judging) ................................................................ TBA Each year Pard’s Western store presents a gift certificate to the sophomore horse judge that competed on the judging team all four semesters; set high goals for themselves and the team; stayed very coachable until the end and added value to the team by motivating others and staying a team player. They always tried hard and finished strong, but not necessarily finished first. Also plans to continue their education and judging at a four-year institute.

Robert & Jean Wolf Memorial Scholarship (Sophomore Horse Judging) .............................................................. TBA In the fall of 2002 Jon Wolf, founder of the Equine program, suffered the loss of both parents, Robert and Jean Wolf of Polo during the month of September. They were of vital support in the beginning of the program and remained so to the end. Both parents are so reflected in the personality and dedication of Jon. This award will be given to a sophomore horse judge that competed on the judging team all four semesters; set high goals and made major progress in their placing of classes and oral reasons; stayed very coachable until the end, trying hard and finishing strong. This award goes to the sophomore who accumulates the most contest points in fall competition.
