Instructor: D. Harris These one-night workshops are designed to help parents, caregivers, teachers, social workers and anyone dealing with troubled youth. There may not be a perfect or easy solution, but there is a way forward for you and your child. Each session covers strategies and concrete actions. The instructor has been an educator of troubled youth for 30 years. Pick a class that fits your needs at the moment or attend all four sessions. 4 Thursdays Feb. 8 & 22, Mar. 8 & 22 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. CRN 11191 Outreach - Rm. 204 Fee $57

Braking Traffik

New Program presented by Rebecca V., MA, LPC, Family Resources Attendees will learn about the different types of trafficking and the vulnerable populations’ traffickers’ target, examining the link between sex trafficking and prior trauma. Red flags will be discussed regarding survivors and their interactions with health care providers as well as the physical and psychological impact of trafficking. Attendees will also leave with referral information and resources to provide patients.

Professional Continuing Education Credits: 10 CEs for the four session class and 2.5 CEs for each individual session below provided for Social Workers.

Rebecca has been an employee of Family Resources serving domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking survivors since 2014. She has provided educational, institutional, legal, and medical advocacy for adults and minors within Rock Island County. Rebecca has provided professional trainings to adults as well as educational trainings to high school students. She holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology and is a Licensed Professional Counselor through the State of Illinois. She is currently a Survivor Advocate for Braking Traffik (a program of Family Resources).

Adult Mental Health First Aid USA Training

Program presented by Bridgeway This course is designed to teach the community and professionals how to respond when a person is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Please note – This course does not teach how to diagnose or counsel, but how to help a person needing early intervention or crisis assistance. Participants will: • Understand the prevalence of mental illness in the United States. • Understand the importance of stigma reduction. • Learn risk factors and warning signs of specific illnesses such as anxiety, depression, self-injury, eating disorders, psychosis and addiction. • Engage in experiential activities that build under- standing of the impact of illness. • Learn a five-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation, to select and implement appropriate interventions, and to help the individual in crisis connect with the appropriate professional care. Presented by Foster Care Alliance Have you ever considered becoming a foster parent but weren’t sure where to start? Do you have questions regarding qualifications or if this is the right fit for you? Representatives from the Foster Care Alliance as well as a foster parent will be available to help with these questions and more. The Foster Care Alliance promotes cooperation among foster care agencies in the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities. Their goal is to educate and support foster families and to nurture and protect children in the child welfare system. The Alliance is comprised of five agencies: Bethany for Children & Families, the Center for Youth & Family Solutions, the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois and Four Oaks Family Connections in Iowa. There are over 22,000 children in foster care in Illinois and Iowa with more children entering the system every day. Zumba - Find Your Way to Fun and Fitness

Instructor: T. Gomez Combine motivating music and high energy with unique moves and combinations that allow you to dance away your worries. It is fun, easy and can be done at your own level. The music will move from today’s songs to Latin and international. 5K Your Way!

Instructor: E. LaMadrid Walkers, joggers and runners welcome! Join us as we help you to develop an individualized plan to walk, jog or run a 5K; whether it is your first 5K or 50th! Our experienced instructor can help you build the stamina to complete a 5K and/or help you structure a plan to improve your time. This course will cover pre- and post-workout stretching as well as how to deal with typical exercise injuries. Class will meet at the outdoor track at Black Hawk College (weather-permitting) as well as the indoor track (if inclement weather). Phlebotomy Technician

In partnership with Genesis. Job growth expected to be 24% through 2026. Prerequisite: Current statement of good health from your physician and documented proof that you are free from active tuberculosis as documented by a negative QuantiFERON® - TB Gold test. These documents must be presented to the instructor the first night of class. This test may be obtained from your physician’s office or by visiting a Genesis Occupational Health Clinic. You are required to perform 25 venipunctures and 5 capillaries. Pre-Licensing Home Inspection Training Online

This on-line program is designed for those who have a solid knowledge in the building trades and are looking for a convenient and affordable way to meet the mandatory requirements of the State of Illinois. The program meets the classroom only requirement. You will also need to attend the field training portion of this class in order to be allowed to sit for the state exam. You will have the option of attending live field training classes at no additional cost, or you can participate in five one-on-one inspections to receive private coaching for an additional fee. The private coaching fee is $250 (usually $50 per inspection). You will have 200 days to complete this class. Once you complete all the requirements for this program including an exam, you will be allowed to take the State of Illinois Home Inspector Exam. After successful completion of the state exam, and after you mail in your application and fees, you will be a Licensed Home Inspector in the State of Illinois. Instructors: Crappie Pros and Guides The course is offered early in the year to ready you not only for the spring spawning season when crappie are plentiful, but for the other seasons as well. This four-week, eight-hour course consists of four, two-hour night classes covering a broad range of topics. The enrollment fee covers all course materials, including samples of crappie lures and jigheads. All sessions are taught by knowledgeable crappie experts, and the curriculum is packed full of crappie fishing information relevant to our area. With several crappie fishing tournament trails crossing the country now, new and unique ways to catch the species under a variety of conditions are constantly being found and refined. Gary White, the founder of Bass Fishing Techniques and Bassmaster University almost 30 years ago, established Crappie University in 2015 to educate anglers across the country about crappie fishing.

Welding PRODUCTION MIG WELDING

This is a 140-hour Production MIG Welding class designed to train individuals on how to work as a welder in a production setting. The classroom portion covers gases, symbols, blueprints, math, safety, interviewing skills, and resume writing. The remaining class time involves hands-on experience conducted in a welding lab area.

STICK/TIG WELDING

This is a 140-hour SMAW (Stick) and GTAW (TIG) class designed to train individuals on how to work in a welding environment. The first 40 hours are dedicated to classroom training which includes gases, symbols, blueprints, math, safety, different types of Stick rods, different types of Tungsten and how and when each type are used. The remaining 100 hours are dedicated to hands-on and demonstration of proper use of materials. The fee is $1,999 for each class (subject to change). Fee includes the cost of the book. These classes do not qualify for financial aid. Highway Construction HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION CAREERS TRAINING PROGRAM (HCCTP)

Paul Fessler, Program Manager The Illinois Department of Transportation created this program to increase the number of minorities, women and disadvantaged persons working on IDOT projects. This 13-week class will cover math, job/life skills, blueprint reading, OSHA, stick welding, construction equipment operation, shop time, and hands-on projects. This program is at no cost to the participant. The students selected for the program will learn essential skills for working in the highway construction trades.
