Presenter: Imam Saad H. Baig Join us at the Islamic Center of the Quad Cities as Imam Saad H. Baig presents a program about the Islamic culture with an insight into basic beliefs and practices of this world culture and religion. A Look Back at the Rock Island Poor Farm

Presenter: Dr. Maryan Wherry The Rock Island County Poor Farm, which housed men, women and children was located in rural Coal Valley and was also known as the county infirmary. It was a home for the poor and destitute, but also housed many other individuals with physical and mental health issues. We will hear the history and its evolution from the beginning in 1836 through the overhaul as Hope Creek in 2009. Asylums, Sanitariums and Hospitals: Early Health Care Institutions of Rock Island County

Presenter: Dr. Maryan Wherry Join us as we learn about the development and establishment of the early health care institutions in Rock Island County. Sanitariums, asylums and pesthouses all were shelters for treating illnesses throughout the 19th century. These institutions provided the framework for the modern hospital. Creations with Clay

Instructor: D. McMullen Explore your creativity with clay. You will be introduced to the basics of working on the Potter’s wheel and create hand built projects using stoneware clay. Color slips are available, and projects will be finished using a glaze. Stained Glass – Beginning, Copper Foil

Instructor: J. Rocker Learn to make stained glass projects using the same copper foil technique that Tiffany used to create his legendary lampshades. You will be guided through the process of cutting glass pieces and assembling them using copper foil. Experience Chicago - Foodie Bus Beginning Backyard Beekeeping Becoming a Foster Parent Presented by Foster Care Alliance Trips! Workshop Instructor: S. Godke Climb aboard the bus and experience a full day of adventure to Chicago’s finest markets, hidden gourmet shops and ethnic neighborhood foodie hot spots. Discover the sights and smells of some of the unique culinary shops of Chicago. The bus will leave from the southeast corner of Lot 1 at the Black Hawk College Quad-Cities Campus at 7 a.m. and return at approximately 8 p.m. We will stop for a Dutch lunch during our excursion and picnic on some of our purchases on the bus ride home.
