Story by Megan Scott, Resident since 2010

Blackhawk residents for two years, Matt and Dana Kingsborough both have deep roots in the East Bay Area. The former child model and former rodeo queen met briefly 24 years ago and then reconnected in the fall of 2015. “We met up again in downtown Danville four years ago. After several spirits and running into each other in the romantic ambiance of Menars, we locked eyes and the rest is history,” says Dana.

The couple’s whirlwind romance moved at lightning speed as sparks flew. “Matt asked me on a date and I said I just wanted to be friends. Our ‘friend’ date was a week later. The friendship lasted one week as we both knew what we had was more than a friendship. A short three weeks after our first date, we moved in together and the happily ever after began,” says Dana. They were married on July 21, 2017.

Matt grew up in Danville and moved to Blackhawk when he was 16-years-old. He has been involved in the mortgage business for 22 years and currently works as a regional, multi-state manager for Homebridge Financial. He says he feels lucky to find a career he loves, “I really enjoy the opportunity to help grow my region by motivating and supporting my team. Helping others to achieve their professional goals is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.”

Dana grew up in Pleasanton and moved to Danville six years ago. She is the Founder and skincare junkie of Healthy Lotus, a CBDinfused Wholesale skin care line, based in Danville. She also works as a medical device rep dividing her time between her passion and an industry she finds much joy in being a part of. “My drive and desire for starting a business in the health and well-being industry came to fruition in May 2016. I had always dreamed of maximizing human potential through skincare, which led me to discover the therapeutic benefits of CBD. I’ve made it my mission to spread the love of my CBD-infused products into spas, salons, golf courses, boutiques and chiropractic offices,” says Dana.

Something most people don’t know about Matt is that he is a former model. He missed the majority of his high school years due to modeling work in San Francisco and Los Angeles. You can find him featured in various print and commercial modeling work. While Matt was busy modeling during his high school years, Dana was active in junior rodeo and holds the title of former Miss Rowell Ranch Rodeo Queen.

An active lifestyle is important to both Matt and Dana. “Our hobbies involve working out golf, bocce, hiking and keeping our minds curious with lots of Podcasts and reading. Also, we have been involved with the Contra Costa Sheriff Posse and Charities for the last 30 years. Keeping our communities safe and giving back to people in need is very important to us,” shares Matt.

When the couple wants to get away and disconnect from the world, they enjoy exploring the beautiful California scenery. “In May we took our first trip to Yosemite and stayed at Rush Creek Inn, one mile outside of the park. No TV’s and very little cell reception, a perfect place to completely detach and unwind. Inspired by the movie Free Solo, and our new interest in hiking, we experienced all the unbelievable views Yosemite had to offer. We even set out on our longest hike ever, 14 miles! For those that know Matt, he is traditionally not the ‘outdoors’ kind of guy, unless it involves a set of golf clubs! He even allowed his shoes to get dirty,” says Dana.

It was a love of golf and all the fun events that came with being longtime Blackhawk Country Club members that made Matt and Dana decide to move to the community. “Matt is a long time golf member, and I’m also an avid golfer. We found we were spending a majority of our time in Blackhawk for bocce and other events, so we decided to move here almost two years ago. We love the peacefulness and beauty of the community, the friendliness of our neighbors and how active people are walking their dogs, biking and golfing,” says Dana.
