Here are some popular and key emerging trends to keep in mind as you plan your kitchen/bath remodel/update this year:

Open and accessible designs with clean lines – ideal for casual dining and easy entertaining.

Cabinets – though white is classic, colored cabinets are gaining popularity. Moodier tones paired with contrasting metal finishes in hardware and fixtures, dramatic black cabinets and bright metal finishes are a couple of ideas to consider. Another trend is minimal or no upper cabinetry. Open shelving in wood, glass or metal for uppers. Clever storage solutions and accessories are in demand.

Counters and backsplashes – Quartz, Marble, Terrazzo and concrete are in vogue.

Appliances and fixtures - Under counter appliances like microwave drawer are popular with no uppers. Integrated appliances and induction cooking are becoming popular. Bright colored appliances are going to be a thing this year. Large sinks as a multi-use workspace when equipped with sliding cover and accessories is another trend. You will see more shiny, bright metallic sinks with fancy details, artisan finishes.

Technology - Wi-fi enabled appliances with voice activation is something to look out for.

Lighting – Statement lighting fixtures.Bathrooms – People are looking for more spa like experience.
