Reflections on traveling through Lucerne and Alicante... my favorite bits and treasured photos I photographed.

Mount Pilatus...

Myth has it that dragons once lived in the dragon caves of Mount Pilatus also known by the name of dragon mountain and protec

While we were in Lucerne, we took the Golden Round day trip to Mount Pilatus, Lucerne’s landmark mountain, for an incredible panoramic view of the snow-covered Swiss Alps. The half - day trip took us on a breathtaking beautiful gondola ride through different mountain ranges and an aerial cableway to the summit at 7,000 feet high with stunning panoramic views of Lucerne and it’s beautiful lake. It was so much fun to walk among the clouds. The yellow beaked crows zooming past me also added to the whole mystique - hard to miss. To get back, we took a scenic train ride down the mountain to the village below, on the world’s steepest cog railway. From there we went on a boat trip on the spectacular Lake Lucerne that finally brought us back to the city. The whole experience was dramatic, magical and breathtaking.

Santa Barbara Castle...

Alicante, the spanish sunshine city-we all need in our lives

Alicante, is one of the most important destinations of the Spanish coasts with rich history, fantastic art and culture, incredible beaches, port, amazing night life, delicious food with rice in every type and shape. One of my favorite spots while visiting here was Alicante’s crowning glory - the medieval Santa Barbara Castle. At 545 feet high atop a hill, it guards the city and has jawdropping unforgettable views of the city and Mediterranean coast below. Another popular and happening scene is at the Explanada De España - promenade with palm trees and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Alicante’s buzzing scene is definitely worth exploring.

Back home...

The sight of day-old ducklings born on a spring day in Blackhawk

Lastly, my favorite, anytime, to go stop is to enjoy the beautiful waterfront setting of Blackhawk plaza with its duck pond, waterfalls and fountains, all year around. What’s your favorite pick of 2019?

Sonia Lamba As an aspiring photographer, I have always loved taking beautiful photos of my friends and family, nature and travels. After having a fulfilling career in finance in New York, I moved to California in 2014 where my love for photography turned into an invigorating passion. Moving to gorgeous Blackhawk has further enriched and blossomed my love for the camera. I take my camera everywhere, regardless of how short the distance is. Knowing me, there is always a photo opportunity!
