This is a very special time of the year for families, relatives, friends, and neighbors. May this Holiday Season be especially wonderful for you and all you hold so dear.

Along with the parties, gatherings, and family time be careful on the highways and neighborhood streets. Be extra cautious during this time of year while driving or walking in your neighborhood. The number of vehicle accidents is substantially higher during this season. The Blackhawk Police, County Sheriff’s deputies, and the Highway Patrol officers are on a state of heighten awareness concerning abnormal driver behavior.

Maintaining a safe driving speed, driving defensively, and carefully observing all traffic and pedestrian activity around you will provide a greater level of safety and security.

If you plan to be away during the holidays, make sure you notify your neighbors of the specific days you will be out of the area. Provide your neighbors your cell phone number and email address. It is a good idea to notify the Blackhawk Police Department, so they can keep an eye on your property. One other suggestion: let your neighbors and the police know if anyone, such as your gardener, housekeeper, or guest, will be in your house while you are away. House checks by your neighbors or the Blackhawk Police Department is an extra layer of caution during your absence.
