BCGEU strike not likely to be the last by Tom Fletcher Provincial government employees staged their largest one-day strike so far Wednesday to press for a bigger wage increase, with two thirds of the workforce off the job at ministry ofÂżces, liquor
stores and ICBC of¿ces province-wide. Both the government and the B.C. Government and Services Employees’ Union remained unwilling to budge from their positions after negotiations broke down over wage increases this spring.
www.kootenayadvertiser.com A5
The union executive is meeting next week to consider further strike action this fall. Two earlier one-day strikes targeted liquor warehouses and then selected resource ministry ofÂżces in the B.C. Interior. Government negotiators offered raises of two and 1.5 per cent for the next two years, then withdrew the offer after the union staged the Âżrst strike.

“They want us to reduce our real income over this contract, and we’ve already taken a Âżve-per-cent hit,â€? Vipond said in an interview. “So to try and chisel us again with a skinny deal doesn’t make sense to us. We want to at least keep up with inĂ€ation and gain a little of what we have lost.â€? Premier Christy Clark unveiled her new cabinet lineup in Victoria
Wednesday as BCGEU pickets circled government ofÂżces downtown. Both Clark and Mike de Jong, the new Âżnance minister, said they have no intention of increasing the burden on taxpayers to provide bigger raises to provincial workers. “The government’s position on this hasn’t changed,â€? Clark said. “I am not going back to taxpayers for more money in order to give
government workers a raise. We are in very tough economic times and we have to balance our budget. The government estimates that the wage offer adds up to $1,700 more over two years for a BCGEU employee making $48,000 a year.

BCGEU chief negotiator David Vipond said Wednesday the wage offer has been tabled and withdrawn three times since talks began early this year, a tactic he called “peek-a-boo bargaining.â€? And after three years without a wage increase, he said the union is sticking to its demand for 3.5 per cent in the Âżrst year and a cost-of-living raise of about 2.5 per cent in year two.

This summer I’ve been able to taste a number of wines straight from the barrel, a most pleasant experience that one doesn’t often get the opportunity to enjoy. Barrel tasting provides a sneak peak at what stage of aging a wine is at, and the chance to try to forecast just how good, or bad, a wine might eventually be. First, though, what purpose does the use of barrels serve in winemaking? The typical oak barrel holds 220 litres of liquid and is made from trees grown in France. Of all the oak trees grown around the world, those from France tend to impart the least taste into wine. Wine aged, or sometimes even fermented in oak, typically have a vanilla Àavour. In making the barrels, oak staves are heated with ¿re to help shape them. The resulting “toast” on the barrels interior, also adds Àavours to the wine. But there is more to oak than just the imparting of desirable Àavours. Because it is porous, the oak allows the wine to have some interaction with air, but not at such a level that the wine oxidizes. A typical barrel of wine will lose about ten per cent of its contents to evaporation each year. The evaporation helps to concentrate the wine— after all, it’s water and alcohol that escapes from the barrel, not the Àavours. Most red wines and some whites, notably chardonnay, are aged in oak. Others are aged in
stainless steel, which is inert and imparts no Àavours into the wine. Of course oak isn’t used only for wine. In a somewhat curious twist, barrels used to age bourbon in the US are commonly exported to Scotland, where they are then used to age malt whisky, or scotch. Scotch becomes even more complex when it later spends time in casks used for other products, like sherry. Back to barrel tasting. If you have ever been around a winery when the newly harvested grapes are crushed, chances are you’ve been offered a taste of the juice. It is rarely what most of use would describe as drinkable. It’s usually tart and very acidic. Once a fermentation period, during which yeast is introduced to turn sugar into alcohol, is complete, red wines might be left in contact with the skins and seeds (to increase colour and tannin levels) or the lees (a muck of dead yeast cells and other bits that help add body and Àavour). Once the wine is deemed ready for aging it is bled off into barrels. From that point, the winemaker tests the progress regularly. A mix of new and previously used barrels might be used so the maker can blend varying amounts together, sometimes with unoaked wine, to get the Àavours he is after. Tasting from barrels is a great indication in just how much wine changes while it ages. In the last week of July, for instance, I did some barrel tastings with BaillieGrohman Estate Winery co-owner Bob Johnson. The Cabernet Sauvignon,
made from grapes he purchased from a wellregarded vineyard in the Keremeos area, was distinctly “green” tasting, with lots of grassiness. It’s not a desired Àavour in red wines and Johnson was concerned that the Àavour might remain because an early frost forced the vineyard owner to harvest them before they had ripened to attain a high sugar content. Last week, four months to the day after that sampling, we once again returned to the same barrel. We both smiled as we sipped— the grassiness hadn’t just eased off, it was gone. A hint of green pepper remained, but what we were now tasting was a wine of very satisfying complexity and with a lovely aroma and mouth feel. What a difference a month makes. A few weeks ago, we visited a number of wineries in the Walla Walla WA area, including one of the most unique ones in the country. Long Shadows. I’ll talk more about the winery next week, but our tour included a visit to the barrel rooms and some tastings straight from the oak containers. It was great fun to sip these nearly one-year-old wines and think about how much time the winemakers might want them to remain in the barrels, and about how they might eventually taste in the bottle. Aging oak is more about art than science, as each barrel can yield slightly different results. And what a beautiful art it is.

The Truth About Low Calorie Drinks In general, when it comes to
what we drink, quality mineral water is still the best option. Juices, even when they claim to be “healthy” are usually just sugar water, unless of course they are freshly squeezed or juiced and drank right away. Sodas are even sweeter than juices, especially colas. Having entered into a calorieAurélie Wiedemann counting society over these past few decades, consumer needs pushed marketers to create a “diet” or “light” version of their sodas, supposedly suitable for those concerned with the harmful effects of excessive sugar consumption. Having successfully accomplished this, they’ve failed to warn the public about aspartame, the sugar-substitute used in most of these diet drinks. The effects of this substance still aren’t fully understood because almost all of the research conducted on aspartame has been ¿nanced by the companies selling it. The few studies done by independent labs, however, are quite alarming, concluding that aspartame may cause ¿bromyalgia, spasms, lower body numbness, cramps, dizziness, headaches, joint pain, depression, panic attacks, sight problems, increased appetite and memory loss. This list sounds similar to the drug contraindications we so commonly see on our prescription labels and in truth, it is! Aspartame was initially discovered by a scientist at the U.S. based company Searl laboratories when he was seeking a treatment for ulcers and noticed the sweetness of the powder. This is when manufacturers, desperately needing to replace cyclamates and saccharine that where proven to be carcinogenic, decided to use aspartame. While more studies need to be conducted to support these ¿ndings, it is best to avoid aspartame altogether. In conclusion, mineral water, preferably water from an artesian source (water that naturally Àows to the surface) remains the safest and healthiest choice. Calendar aims to boost burn fund Starting today, Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services, will have their ¿rst annual Cranbrook Community Calendar available for sale. The goal of the 16 month Cranbrook Community Calendar developed in partnership with the Cranbrook Daily Townsman and Rocky Mountain Printers is to raise funds and awareness for the British Columbia Professional Fire¿ghters Burn Fund and help promote the local area. Photos for the calendar were selected through a contest earlier this year, where local individuals submitted their best photos that calendar coordinators felt well represented the area. “I feel the calendar will showcase our area through the photographs, while promoting some of the local events and schedules that happen each year,” says Murray Robertson, local Burn Fund representative. “Not only will the calendar promote safety, it will also give purchasers an opportunity to win some
great prizes from our local business community.” Purchasers of the calendar will be asked to enter their calendar number, name, address and email on a special link on the City of Cranbrook website – www. cranbrook.ca. The website will generate random monthly winners who will receive some local monthly prizes. Calendars are $10 each and only 1500 copies are available. Calendars will be available for sale at the Cranbrook Fire Hall on 2nd Street South, the Cranbrook Daily Townsman, Rocky Mountain Printers, Cranbrook City Hall and the Leisure Services desk at Western Financial Place. Photos selected to grace the pages of the calendar will be on display at a special showing at the Cranbrook and District Arts Council (corner of 10th Avenue South and 2nd Street South) on Thursday September 13 starting at 7 p.m.

Everything that made the CR-V If you are seeing the Equinox everywhere, it’s for a good reason great, plus exquisite styling
PHOTO SUBMITTED
The Equinox has become ubiquitous on the roads because of its style and economy. PHOTO SUBMITTED
The 2012 Honda CR-V maintains its hold on the dependable sport utility market with its fuel ef¿ciency and driveability while adding bold new styling. Overall: All-new fourthgeneration compact ute features more aggressive styling, added interior space and a wider array of standard and optional features. Drivetrain: Rumor has it that a more fuel-ef¿cient 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine will make an appearance, along with an equally new six-speed automatic transmission that’s an alternative to the base ¿ve-speed manual. Four-wheel-drive remains optional. There’s plenty of secrecy surrounding Honda’s redesigned CR-V. In fact, the only photos the automaker has released so far feature the concept version that, although similar to the ¿nal shape, will likely lack the
prototype’s big wheels and dark glass (generally used in protoypes to hide an un¿nished interior). However, Honda has con¿rmed that the forthcoming model will be larger inside and out and that the interior has been recon¿gured to maximize the ¿ve-passenger seating room and provide for a larger and more versatile cargo hold. Stylistically, the CR-V presents a more rugged face, but retains its faux undercarriage-protecting skid plate/ front bumper combination. Beyond this sketchy detail there is speculation as to what drivetrain CR-V will use. A slightly more robust 2.4-litre four-cylinder is the probable powerplant, but there’s a whispered suggestion that
a more fuel-ef¿cient 2.5-litre four-cylinder might wind up between the fenders. Whatever the ¿nal outcome, a ¿ve-speed manual transmission will be standard, with a six-speed automatic (a gain of one cog) as an option. As well, both front- and allwheel-drive will be offered, with the former only available with a manual gearbox. It’s likely that the same LX, EX and EX-L trim levels will be offered, but we should all know soon enough once the curtain is raised later this season.
Overall: Even into its third year, the Equinox has that combination of style and substance that keeps it looking fresh; even in a down economy, Chevrolet’s tall wagon continues to be hugely popular. Drivetrain: A 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder engine drives the front wheels, with an optional 3.0-litre DOHC V6 available in the mid-range and top-line models; optional all-wheel-drive is available across the range. Popular nearly to the point of ubiquity, Chevrolet obviously hit a homerun with its Equinox wagon. Sales have been brisk for three years, and it has been one of the company’s bright spots through all the ¿nancial turmoil. A massive upgrade over the model it replaced, it obviously ¿ts all the criteria asked for by buyers. Despite the large cabin, style won over substance as storage space with either the
rear seat in place or folded Àat decreased by close to 10 per cent compared with the outgoing 2009 model. Clever touches abound, like the integrated rocker panels in the doors that reduce entry stepover height. (They also help keep pant legs from brushing up against the vehicle’s lower body area.) The interior is likely the Equinox’s best asset. It’s simply gorgeous and includes dual gloveboxes, easy-to-read twin gauges set in large pods and plenty of handy storage bins. There’s also a versatile split folding rear seat that can be adjusted fore and aft over an eight-inch range to optimize legroom or cargo capacity. A 182-horsepower 2.4-litre four-cylinder reigns as a base engine, with its 9.2/6.1 (city/ highway) l/100 km fuel economy that embarrasses most of the competition. Optional is a 3.0-litre V6 with 255 horsepower that earns a 12.4/8.1
l/100 km rating and is now Flex Fuel capable, meaning it can burn E85 gasoline/ ethanol blend. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with either engine as is all-wheel-drive. A wide assortment of standard equipment (air conditioning, cruise control, keyless remote entry and power windows/ locks/mirrors, etc.) comes in base versions, as does a new 18-centimetre touchscreen to work the standard audio system; moving up into the top-line models adds climate control, heated leather seats, 18-inch wheels, extra trim, and premium audio. With its friendly interior and thrifty power options, including a new navigation system for 2012, the Equinox projects a more fashionable presence and one that appears eager to pack up the gang and tackle the tasks at hand.

To optimize the storage space you have in your home, start by deciding what you want to store and where. Solutions differ, depending on whether you want to store your clothes on hangers or folded, whether you need a place to put away sports equipment or books, or whatever it may be that gets in the way of your daily movements around the house. Storage options can include drawers, extra shelves, or cupboards, walk-in closets with folding or sliding doors, and either permanent or moveable installations.
can be installed not only in corridors, entrance halls, bedrooms, and under stairs, but also in kitchens and bathrooms. What’s more, technical innovations and decorative elements added to the doors of some models allow them to be installed in living rooms and of¿ces. In children’s bedrooms, loft beds can provide storage with ladders that double as bookshelves and bases that can be used as closets. In the kitchen, sliding doors covered in wood, stainless steel, or glass can hide an entire wall of Àoor-to-ceiling storage.

When purchasing new bar stools for your kitchen consider your counter tops. If they have a heavy pattern like granite, go for something subtle like wood in the same colour family as your cabinets. If they are plainer, like a solid color or butcher block try something with a little more pizazz like bright leather, vinyl or upholstery with a pattern.

Golf tournament nets $13,500 for A Clear View
PHOTO TROY POPOVICH
Trevor Gordon (Boston Pizza) and Pat Spring (Northstar Motors) meet up with the Grainger foursome (EKFH) and MacMillan foursome (Caliper) Hats off to Boston Pizza and Northstar Motors for another creative fundraiser bringing $13,500 to support the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign. Thanks to the efforts of Trevor Gordon (BP), Pat Spring (Northstar), Colin Sinclair and Don MacMillan directors on the board of EKFH, the Par 3 Charity Golf Tournament held at the Cranbrook Golf Course on August 25 was a resounding success. Trevor Gordon explains, “Boston Pizza partnering with Northstar is a natural ¿t considering the commitment that both companies have to doing business in Cranbrook and supporting the local area through community giving. We combined our passion for golf and giving back to the community to come up with this unique golf tournament concept.” The beautiful Cranbrook Golf Course was transformed into a par 3 format and thanks to the generosity of Northstar Motors each hole offered golfers a chance to win either a GM truck or car should an ace be scored. If a hole-in-one didn’t entice you Boston Pizza with some help with Bridge Interiors offered some excellent closest to the pin prizes featuring golf bags, rescue clubs and bar fridges. Although no holes-inone were recorded, the closest was a 6” strike by Colin Sinclair but many closest to the pin prizes found wonderful homes. It that wasn’t enough there was a chance to Beat the Pro (proceeds to the charity), a chance to win the Bridge Inte-
riors Putting Contest, dance, swing and sway to the rock and roll music of DJ Doug Thistle and to sample some tasty Boston Pizza treats and beverages. Community support for silent and live auction items also added to the bene¿t of the charity. Part of the uniqueness of the tournament was a Corporate Sponsor Shootout for a chance to win a 2012 Corvette.
Although 17 sponsors gave it their best shot no ace was recorded. Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director, “What stands out in my mind is how well organized this event was and how fantastic it was to see so many new sponsors and players who may not have ever been involved with either EKFH or this campaign. The kudos for that effort really
belongs to Trevor, Pat, Colin and Don.” The organizing committee sincerely recognizes those sponsors who stepped forward: All Seasons Landscape Contracting, Falkins Insurance Group, Pelletier Construction, Fabrite Services Ltd, BDO, Caliper, Rocky Mountain Appraisal, Power Paving, Beachcomber Hot Tubs, Abreast in the Rockies, BMO Nes-

bitt Burns, Fiorentino Bros. Contracting Ltd. New Dawn Developments, Snap-on, CTC, High “R” Expectations, BA Blacktop, Selkirk Signs & Services Ltd., Mister Tire, Silenus Resource Management, and Bridge Interiors. Thanks also to the team of Paul Whittingham and the Cranbrook Golf Course for being tremendous hosts and to all the volunteer hole spotters. The Boston Pizza Northstar Charity Tournament combined with other campaign fundraisers and public donations has just moved the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign to over the $910,000 mark. The ability to triumph to bring the best in breast cancer diagnostic imaging to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital is gaining momentum, if you wish to be part of the picture please consider a donation today, visit www. aclearview.ca.

An adult’s flash of impatience behind the wheel or a child’s panicked sprint to catch up with a departing school bus can turn a single moment into a terrible nightmare. This fall, as the children get back to school it’s important that drivers and children remember that getting to school and home safely is everybody’s business. If your children take the bus, make sure they know these five simple rules: arrive at your school bus stop five minutes before its scheduled stop; wait for the bus a safe distance away from the side of the street; stay back from the bus until it comes to a complete stop; if it’s dark, wear retro-reflective material and stay visible to drivers; and if you miss your bus or if it never arrives, go straight back home. For those who walk or ride a bicycle to school, help them choose the safest and most direct route. If there are no sidewalks, make sure they know to walk facing traffic or ride their bicycle with the traffic. Teach them to cross streets only at crosswalks and to always check for cars to the left first, then right, then left again. In the car, respect school bus traffic laws, which means coming to a full stop, from both directions, until the bus’s red lights stop flashing. If you’re preparing to make a right turn, be aware of bicyclists approaching from behind you on that side. Keep an eye out for children crossing the street, especially during hours when the school day starts and ends. Slow down in school zones, and be watchful for children running to catch the school bus.

Hunting Update 2012 Grizzly from page B6
Two key aspects of the North American Model are the use of science and laws to manage and protect wildlife. Today BC’s government continues to use these tools, ensuring that use is sustainable and that habitat capacity is properly considered. The GOABC shares the concerns voiced by some anti-hunting groups in regards to grizzly bear habitats and the impacts of expanding industrial development. We should always consider how our actions affect wildlife, and need to ensure that decisions are made prudently. We appreciate that anti-hunting organizations raise this topic each year, but we disagree about the solution they propose. Grizzly bear hunting is sustainable and sciencebased. Harvest data provides valuable information to government on grizzly bear populations. This information is combined with DNA inventory and the latest grizzly bear modeling to help accurately assess grizzly bear populations in BC. As human activities expand further into grizzly bear habitat, it becomes increasingly critical that science and law are used to guide all wildlife management decisions. In 2002 government commissioned a Grizzly Bear Scienti¿c Panel comprised of the world’s leading bear experts to conduct a compre-

hensive review on how grizzly bears are managed. While there were a number of recommendations for improvement, the panel did ¿nd that BC’s approach to managing grizzly bears was sustainable. Following the release of the report from the Scienti¿c Panel, the majority of the province remained open to grizzly bear hunting as best science clearly indicated that a wise and sustainable harvest of grizzly bears was possible and posed no threat to populations. Internationally renowned scientist Dr. Mitch Taylor once noted that hunting is the “quintessential indicator of healthy population” because only healthy wildlife populations with surplus animals can be hunted. Under the North American Model, hunting can be considered an objective of conservation, a signal that management is retaining strong and abundant wildlife populations. The Scienti¿c Panel’s report continues to provide direction for wildlife management today. The grizzly bear harvest in BC is closely monitored. Harvest reports must be completed after a hunt and the Ministry conducts a Compulsory Inspection on each harvested grizzly bear. The penalties for those caught poaching grizzly bears provide a strong statement on government’s commitment to ensuring the

grizzly bear hunting is lawful, sustainable and informed by science: the ¿nes for poaching grizzly bears range from $1,000 to $50,000. Once government biologists decide on the annual allowable harvest for an area, shares are allocated between resident and guided hunters, which are controlled by lottery and quota respectively. In 2011, the human-caused mortality of grizzly bears was 383.
This is approximately 2% of the population and consistent with the normal range of grizzly bear human-caused morality for the last 30 years. This is well below the 6% maximum used by the Province of BC when calculating the annual allowable harvest. Hunting by BC residents and guided clients contributes $350 million per year to BC’s economy. Guide out¿tters have functioned as

Today our industry provides over 2,000 jobs in rural communities and $120 million in revenue each year. Hunting Update 2012 A primer on finding and successfully hunting the white tailed deer by Justin Ott White tailed deer are so called because of the white underside of their broad tails that they stick up in the air while running. The thrill of whitetail deer hunting is addictive. The spirit of adventure during a deer-hunting trip is whitetail bucklike heady wine. During the deer hunting season, many hunters spend long days in cold wet conditions inside the woods on a hunting trip and returned empty handed! Still, the urge to return is strong and

at the ¿rst opportunity, he is back with his hunting equipment. It is all about outwitting the buck on his home ground. Stalking the animal in deep woods, making a kill, getting fresh meat for the freezer and a trophy to hang on the wall; all are irresistible to the avid hunter. You can go whitetail deer hunting after obtaining a license granted under a Provincial or State’s Big Game Management Plan. The license lays down when, where and what to hunt. The license for

the hunt is subject to Deer Hunting Season dates that schedule the time/ period during which the license holder is permitted to hunt. The area where the hunt is allowed is speci¿ed by the WMUs (Deer Wildlife Management Units) mentioned on the license. WMUs are de¿ned hunting areas created by segregating the Province/State into small geographical units that are depicted on a map and suitably marked for identi¿cation. This map can also be viewed by accessing the gaming website.
Therefore, when you obtain a whitetail deer hunting license, you can hunt whitetail deer within a particular area during a certain time of the year only using arms speci¿ed in your license. Every State and province designs its own yearly calendar specifying hunting season dates applicable to gaming which includes white tail deer hunting. Where I hunt in BC, bow season opens for deer on Sept 1st and is open in certain areas until Dec 15th. Youth Deer Weekend

their deer hunting skills under a licensed hunter above eighteen years of age. Looking at the hunting season dates above it would be possible to hunt for white tailed deer in NH right from September 15 to December 15. However, you can use your deer hunting riÀe only from November 14 to December 9. Deer hunting is a necessary part of an area’s Big Game Management Plan and provides a more humane way to control deer population. Without harvesting, the deer population swells to proportions where the animals starve to death during the winter season. Hunting serves to push deer into areas that provide an overall healthy environment for them. Areas having an overpopulation of deer also suffer serious safety risks by deer collisions with fast moving cars and other vehicles causing damage to life and property. Here are a few whitetail deer hunting tips for you. The ¿rst is to make sure you did your pre season scouting to ¿nd out where the deer are moving, see Primer page B9

sit atop some elevated point such as a hilltop, with good binoculars at dawn and dusk. This way you can observe the movements of the animals without letting them have an inkling of your presence in the area. If you stomp around on foot all over the area, you are sure to scare them away. Just make sure to avoid
skylining yourself so the whitetail buck does not see your silhouette. Whenever you put a stalk on a whitetail deer, make sure you are moving upwind to prevent being winded. During your hunting trips always avoid places frequented by too many hunters. These places are usually near to where a car can go. Try to get deeper into the woods where many

hunters do not go, but deer certainly do. If you are on an extended trip which involves camping overnight, being secluded might be tedious. Don’t fret, having some time alone is always a perfect time for reÀection. Find a good deer call, it is an essential part of your deer hunting equipment. The call should sound close to the natural sound produced by deer calling. The bleat from your deer call will make moving deer momentarily stop in their tracks giving you enough time for a good shot. During the rut, you can entice a whitetail buck in by making buck grunts from a grunt tube. If hunting from a tree stand, hang your tree stand in a tree located in suitable ‘hot spot’ frequented by deer. The best way to ¿nd the spot and the tree is by doing some pre-season scouting. The tree should offer you a correct position in relation to the shooting lanes that you intend to target and allow you to leave and reach it without crossing trails, which can ruin your chances of success. In addition, it should be on the down-

wind side of the area of deer’s movements. The preferred time for whitetail deer hunting is during the rutting season. It is a good time because it makes the bucks lose caution when they scent a doe in heat. As this encourages the buck to move, big weary bucks are more likely to be sighted and bagged. To make the whitetail bucks expose themselves and offer a shot, rattling antlers or racks to imitate ¿ghting bucks is an excellent ploy to draw them out while hunting during the rut. At this time, the bucks are more aggressive, less cautious and more curious. To avoid scaring the approaching buck with your scent that is unnatural to it you must take care to mask your scent by using any of the numerous scents like doe urine, estrus, and buck in rut scents available in the market. wildlife species that are available to be hunted in British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. No other jurisdiction in North America has a greater number of “fairchase” hunting opportunities. Our association, with wildlife stewardship as its priority, is very appreciative of our signi¿cant wildlife populations, and is very proud of the role that all guide out¿tters play in ensuring the populations remain healthy and wellmanaged. The Mountain Hunter Record Book Program documents the success and sustainability of quality big game management in the Canadian northwest. Our measuring system is based on the gross Boone & Crockett scores which gives full credit to the quality of the animal harvested and does not penalize the animal for asymmetry. With re-
spect to our diverse geographic land mass, we have broken down our species into various categories in order to provide proper recognition. Trophies can be scored
and entered dating from 1966 (the year GOABC was established) to the present, thus creating a solid foundation for records. Eligible entries must have been harvest-
ed with a past or present member in good standing of the GOABC. A new vision was birthed to embrace the history and past accomplishments of GOABC
