Plans fired up for Bentley fire hall By Treena Mielke

A new Bentley fire hall, a hot budget item for Lacombe County and the town, has moved one step closer to becoming a reality. Both councils have now agreed to cost share land and building costs for the approximate $1.862 million proposal. Work is expected to proceed on the 7,680 square-foot structure in 2013 and services to the land may be installed this fall. Keith Boras, Lacombe County environmental and protective services manager, said the town and county spent $150,000 to purchase the land in Lacombe County. “The town didn’t have land suitable for the fire hall,” he said, adding the property was obtained at a good price. He said county council gave the green light to paying $930,852 (half the cost) for the firehall at its Aug. 23 meeting. Bentley CAO Elizabeth Smart said an emergency services committee has been looking at plans for a new fire hall for some time. “The old one is too crowded,” she said. “It is not even a safe situation there. And, there is no room to expand.” She said the new fire hall would be built on land across from the new Highway 12 connector road. Mayor Joan Dickau said the location has been well thought out. “That location will be great with the bypass (coming in).” Dickau is pleased to see plans for the new fire hall moving ahead. “There really is a need for a new firehall. It will address the needs of the town well into the future. I am really excited about it.” The present fire hall houses two county trucks, two town trucks and a jointly owned rescue truck. The hall, built around 1980, is attached to the town hall and the Bentley Drop In Centre and, as well as being too small to accommodate the trucks, does not have tall enough overhead doors to accommodate some modern equipment. Members of the emergency services committee include Joan Dickau, Bentley Coun. Lynda Haarstad-Petten, Lacombe County Reeve Ken Wigmore, county Coun. Keith Stephenson, Bentley Fire Capt. Dan Hueppelsheuser and firefighter Peter Issler.

New school year begins for Wolf Creek students By Treena Mielke The hallowed halls of learning at Rimbey Junior/ Senior High School are once again filled with the clamour of young voices, as students begin another year of learning. School began on Sept. 4 with a pancake breakfast put on by staff for the students. Principal Tim Lekas said student numbers, which usually hover around 370, seem to be up slightly this year for the school that houses grades 7 to 12. New faces on the teaching staff are Michael Leung, who will teach math to junior and senior high students, and French and language arts teacher Robyn MacEachern, who will also teach both junior and senior high school. Lekas said tutorials will be introduced this year to help students who face academic challenges in a certain area. Tutorials, which will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 30 minutes, will be offered in a variety of subjects including math, essay writing and computer labs. “Some students will be assigned to a tutorial, other students may choose to take one,” he said. “We always want to keep trying new things to help students become more successful in their studies.” The library and computer lab will be open to accommodate students taking advantage of tutorials, he Tyra Bennett, a student in Tommi Christiansen’s kindergarten class at Bluffton School puts the said. I’ve had a friend for years and years who seems to drift in and out of my life with maddening regularity. Sometimes I want to be close, other times not so much, but this friend is always there, always available, always comforting and always, weirdly enough, on the same wave length with me. And all I need to connect with this friend is a lighter or at the very least, a pack of matches. Cigarettes. My friend, my buddy, my bad choice of comfort. “No. 7 regular, please.” That would be me. Buying one more pack. Again. Actually, I had never heard of anyone referring to cigarettes as a friend until the other day when I admitted I had quit. Again. “So, you must be going through a grieving process,” this person said. “It’s kind of like losing your best friend.” I have lost car keys and wallets and phone numbers. I have lost my way, and I have lost people I cared about deeply. But, I never, ever thought giving up smoking was like losing a friend or an object. But, actually it is. For years and years I told everyone that I could take or leave smoking. I was the control freak, here. I could decide. I’m not sure when the rules changed and I became the servant and my cigarettes just laughed at me and went up to about a million dollars a packet. But, they did. And still I bought them. I was introduce to cigarettes and lipstick when I was about 13 by my brother’s girlfriend, who was 19 and much cooler than me so I accepted both the gifts that came with the “grown up label” attached without question. In those days rolled up blue jeans, penny loafers, bobby pins, record players and drive-in movies were in.
So were cigarettes. It seemed we smoked everywhere, except, of course, in front of our parents, which was not allowed then and, to my knowledge, is not allowed now. Except, of course, in my case, where the reverse is true. I would be severely chastised if I even entertained the thought of lighting up in front of my children whom I swear have a sense of smell keener than a police dog sniffing out drugs. Things were different when I was young and knew everything. Smokers were accepted. And when they lit up, they didn’t get the look — you know the look of pure disdain like they have two heads and are also weird in other ways, that they get today. Smokers were allowed into bars and restaurants and offices and even people’s homes. Smokers, heaven forbid, even smoked in front of children, sometimes even their own. But, that was then and this is now.
Now, baby boomers such as I have had to admit smoking is a dirty, filthy habit and hanging is really too good for any of us who dare to indulge in it. And if we cannot convince ourselves that we are guilty as charged, all we need to do is check out the Treena Mielke graphic pictures on the On The Other Side cigarette packages. Try and have a cigarette with a clear conscience after that. It’s not easy, but, unfortunately, it can be done. Ask me. I know. But, I have quit again. This time for good. Well, at least for today!
Alberta Party still young, growing and engaging Dear Editor: I have to admit the comments by last week’s guest columnist, Doug Firby, regarding the Alberta Party have merit. The Alberta Party is new and we don t have much history behind us, yet. The building of policy takes time, and we just didn’t have that luxury prior to the last election. However, we continue to believe policy must be based on evidence, be founded on a ‘ triple bottom line’ of what is good for the economy, the environment and for our communities. We also believe strongly that policy doesn’t come from behind closed doors in the legislative assembly, but from kitchen tables and coffee shops and government decisions must be transparent. Firby was certainly correct the April 23 election result has us re-appraising our role in Alberta politics. If anything, we have become more committed to the creation of a second viable centrist party that Albertans aren’t afraid to elect to throw out MLAs they no longer trust. It became clear last election that while
the majority of Albertans yearn for a fiscally responsible government, we are a socially progressive province and care about public health and education. The last election was simply weird. Premier Alison Redford and her PCs dove to the centre with the rhetoric of fear of the Wildrose boogeyman. Sure, Danielle Smith and the Wildrose party represented change, but in the end it was clear that most Albertans are not comfortable with their social rigidness. Both the Wildrose party and the PCs seem to believe the dialogue in Alberta is still about confrontation and bullying. And that’ s precisely why the Alberta Party believes there is room for us. We believe Albertans will eventually demand more than that sort of schoolyard fighting in government. We did see just how tired Albertans are of PCs and it was wonderful to watch an election that appeared to be a real contest (at least for the first three weeks), but aside from a few electable MLAs (Joe Anglin being one), the current Wildrose
party does not seem to represent the change Albertans want — transparent, fiscally responsible yet socially progressive government. At our AGM in Calgary on Sept. 22, Alberta Party members will decide on the future of our party. What Firby wrote is true. We did fail on to elect an MLA, but we got 17,060 more votes than we got the previous election. That’s the beginning of our history. One criticism Firby missed was that we need to engage rural Alberta better and we intend to do that at every opportunity before 2016. With Liberals and NDs giving up on rural Alberta, the PCs continuing to show contempt for transparency and the voices of everyday Albertans, we believe there is a place for a progressive voice that isn’t scared of open discussion and is prepared to be respectful of every Albertan, whether they vote for us or not. Con man goes to jail By Paul Cowley Red Deer Advocate A con man who bilked a string of central Alberta companies out of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and supplies has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison. Nathan Weir, 34, pleaded guilty in Red Deer provincial court to about a dozen fraud and stolen property charges as well impaired driving and nine counts of failing to appear. Crown prosecutor Maurice Collard described Weir as a professional con artist who scammed small businesses in several Central Alberta communities including Red Deer, Rimbey, Ponoka and Sundre between December 2008 and July 2010. Some were out thousands of dollars worth of equipment, including one that was bilked out of nearly $11,000 worth of material. Collard called for a three-year sentence, noting that Weir had been sentenced to two years in 2004 for a smaller number of the same kinds of frauds. “He can’t stop stealing from Central Alberta,” he said. The court heard Weir typically took advantage of companies by using false invoices and assumed identities to purchase expensive equipment, such as oilfield valves and industrial cleaning equipment. Companies often had no idea they had been cheated until they went to
collect their cash and discovered the companies that supposedly bought the equipment had no record of the purchases or the supposed employee who did the buying. In other fraudulent deals, Weir forged a relative’s name on a loan to buy a truck. It only came to light when he began missing payments. He also forged ownership documents to sell a trailer. The impaired driving charged was laid when a “highly agitated” Weir was arrested after he ran into a horse trailer being pulled by another vehicle near Eckville in April 2009. A small amount of cocaine and a crack pipe was found inside his vehicle. Defence lawyer Lorne Goddard said at the time of the offences Weir was struggling with a cocaine addiction. Goddard suggested a two-year sentence. After charges were laid, Weir took bad advice and fled to British Columbia where he found a job managing a company’s office in Merritt, said his lawyer. He did that for 18 months before turning himself into police there earlier this year after RCMP from Alberta reached him on his cellphone. Goddard said after leaving Alberta, the married father-of-three turned his life around. Judge Gordon Deck gave Weir credit for time served in jail leaving him with 27 months left to serve in prison.

Embrace literacy at home for best results Submitted Every day, we send our kids off to school hoping they will learn something — anything — and grow into knowledgeable, successful adults. But while we deal with the daily details of that
thing called life, we sometimes forget to encourage learning at home. Parents are a child’s first teacher. Even after they’ve started school, it’s important to ensure that family learning continues at home every day. Kids look
Author Kimmel touring Alberta promoting new book NeWest Press presents the latest entry in its Nunatak First Fiction series, Fran Kimmel’s The Shore Girl. The book will arrive on store shelves Sept. 15 and Kimmel is making appearances all over Alberta to promote the book. Kimmel was born and raised in Calgary and graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in sociology. Her stories have appeared in literary journals across Canada and have twice been nominated for the Journey Prize. She lives in Lacombe with her husband and an overly enthusiastic silver Lab. Rebee has a mother with a terrible secret, one that shapes both their lives. She’s the girl trapped in the white van, dragged from place to place, no clue where she is on the crumpled map. Everywhere she goes, Rebee transforms the lives of the people she encounters. But it’s not until she gets carted back to Chesterfield after her grandfather’s funeral that she learns of the dark forces that have torn her family apart. The Shore Girl follows Rebee from her toddler to her teen years as she grapples with her mother’s fears and addictions, and her own desire for a normal life. Through a series of narrators—family, friends, teachers, strangers, and Rebee herself — her family’s dark past, and the core of her mother’s despair, are slowly revealed. The Shore Girl is a mosaic of Rebee: of her origins, of her past and present; from darkness and grief, to understanding and hope for a brighter future. Praise for The Shore Girl Rebee is a bittersweet creation: heartrending yet utterly un-
up to their parents and mimic many of their daily routines. Spending just 15 minutes a day with them can go a long way to help children develop a love of learning and improve their literacy skills. “Learning together as a family is vital to a child’s future education,” says Margaret Eaton, president of ABC Life Literacy Canada. “Doing family literacy activities not only helps develop children’s reading, writing and math skills, it also provides an opportunity for parents to learn something new too.” Unfortunately, approximately nine million adult Canadians suffer from low literacy, and hundreds of thousands of these individuals have children. Several of these children end up falling behind in school because they are not given the same opportunity as their peers to read at home and engage in early learning activities. Research shows that children raised in literate households are likely to enter Grade 1 with several thousand hours of one-to-one pre-reading experience behind them, so it’s important to ensure learning takes place in the home and starts at an early age. It’s understandable parents lead busy lives and may not have time to read a bedtime story to their children. Add to that parents that have low reading confidence and children almost never enjoy a bedtime story. Luckily, there are so many learning opportunities that happen in our day-to-day lives — fun, easy activities that are part of our daily routines and don’t feel like learning. September is Life Literacy Month, a month to celebrate literacy and lifelong learning. In honour of the
month, ABC Life Literacy Canada offers 10 fun and easy ways to make literacy part of your family’s daily life. 1. When making your grocery list, have your child write out the items you need to buy. 2. At the store, ask your child to count out the money to make the purchase. 3. Make it a habit to always read a story together at bedtime. 4. When cooking dinner, involve your children in measuring the ingredients. This helps them understand fractions and measurements. 5. Driving is the perfect opportunity to practice literacy. Read signs, billboards and licence plates together, and show your children the proper way to read a map. 6. While on the Internet, make time to research something new that your family is interested in. Researching skills are important and help with reading and comprehension. 7. In the car, sing along to songs on the radio. Singing encourages learning patterns of words, rhymes and rhythms, and is strongly connected to language skills. 8. When playing a board game, read the instructions aloud to each other or count how many spaces to travel around the board. 9. Involve your kids when you pay bills. This will teach them strong financial skills early on in life. 10. Children follow by example, so ensure learning is part of your daily life too. Wilson wins silver at senior games By Treena Mielke Many hours spent honing her skill at making letters into words has paid off in a big way for a Rimbey senior who successfully played her way to a silver medal at the Canada Senior Games. Gladys Wilson won second in Scrabble at the Games held Aug. 30 and 31, losing out to a contender from Saskatchewan in the final game. Winning was a great honor, she said, noting she had lost only one game prior to going into the final competition. “Gosh, yes, I was very pleased, she said. “I’m not very good at getting rid of
all my letters and I was competing against all of Canada, so it was nice to win. Wilson won at the zones and took a silver medal in provincials, but a phone call from her son, Randy Conti who lives in Calgary, was the deciding factor for her to attend the Nationals. “Randy came with me and it was very nice to spend the time with my son as well as attend the Games, she said. Wilson began playing Scrabble several years ago when she lived in British Columbia. Later, when she was living in Ponoka, she took up the game again, this time with a serious contender who had won several
gold and silver medals. The lady, who has since died, taught her a lot, she said. “She beat me, she beat me and she beat me, she said. “When I did win, I think she let me. Now that Wilson lives in Rimbey, she regularly visits three Scrabble sites on the computer to keep current with the challenges of the game. Scrabble is an excellent way to keep your memory sharp, meet new people and learn new words, she said. “It also gives you pride in yourself when you do well. And even if you don’t, it’s fun.

With the 2012 crop looking like it will be better than average, Wild Rose Agricultural Producers (WRAP) is reflecting on farmers’ contributions to Alberta’s economy. “We’re cautiously optimistic, because it’s early in the harvest and weather could still wreak havoc, said Lynn Jacobson, WRAP president. “But yields and quality at this point are higher than normal. Similarly, grain prices are excellent, leading to anticipation that this could be a banner year for our industry.
“This is great news for Alberta, because our research shows that for every $1 a grain farmer earns, almost $14 is put back into the economy as the grain makes its way through the provincial value chain, said Jacobson. According to provincial calculations, Alberta farmers contributed a record $10.5 billion to the economy in 2011, with the food and beverage processing industry generating $12.2
billion in economic activity in the same year. These two sectors combined created 73,200 jobs for Albertans. Jacobson noted it would be remarkable if all areas in the agriculture industry were doing well at the same time. There are some grain producers who have been devastated by hail, and there are some sectors where farmers are not in the same situation as most grain producers.

a 30-year-old man fought briefly with police but realized quickly that wasn’t the best laid plan. Oilfield supplies stolen On the night of Aug. 31, some midnight shoppers with sticky fingers stole a Honda

Board promotes health and safety promotion By Treena Mielke Students and staff at Wolf Creek Public Schools are being invited to take part in a division-wide competition to turn the spotlight on health and safety in an innovative and creative way. The board of Wolf Creek Public Schools agreed to contribute $600 to the competition after listening to a presentation at its Sept. 5 meeting by Chris Banbury, health and safety co-ordinator for the school division. Banbury told the board he plans to invite all division schools to participate in the contest that will involve creating
their own health and safety promotions. Staff and students will be invited to work together in the contest, he said. Banbury came up with the idea as a way to raise the profile of health and safety for the division. “What we have is mostly available on line and is fairly dry and lackluster so I was exploring other ideas.” He wanted to come up with something that was exciting and would get everyone involved. “Our best resource is our kids. This way students can educate the educators.” Banbury said each grade will be invited to participate and group and indi-
CTS scholarships may be expanded By Treena Mielke Wolf Creek Public Schools wants to be armed with a little more knowledge before making a commitment to expand its CTS scholarships to include Outreach School students. At its regular meeting, Sept. 5, trustees discussed the possibility of including Outreach students in the $300 scholarships that are now given out exclusively to high school students. Trustee Bob Huff was concerned as the board’s policy for the career technology studies scholarships did not include alternate schools, only public high schools.
He noted the board needs to be aware the number of students taking CTS continues to increase and he wanted to be sure that Outreach School students were not excluded from the scholarship. “I want to be more inclusive than exclusive,” he said. The school board was receptive to Huff’s concerns, but agreed they did not have enough information to change the policy to include Outreach School students in the CTS scholarships. Trustees agreed to direct administration to begin the process of looking into CTS scholarships for Outreach school students.

Screen test for breast cancer available soon One in eight Albertan women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Is it time for your mammogram? Screen Test will be in Ponoka from Sept. 27 to Oct. 12. Call 1-800-667-0604 (toll free) for your appointment. The main risk factors for breast cancer are: • Being female (men can develop breast cancer too, but it is rare) • More than 75 per cent of women diagnosed with breast cancer are 50 years or older • Having a mother, sister, or a daughter diagnosed with breast cancer increases a woman’s risk of breast cancer. However, 80 per cent of women who develop breast cancer
have no family history • Previous diagnosis of breast cancer Breast screening life plan If you’re younger than 40: • Get to know how your breasts look and feel • See your doctor regularly for a periodic health exam If you’re 40-49: • Talk to your health care provider about your breast cancer risk and the risks and benefits of screening mammograms • Get an annual physical breast exam from your health care provider • Check your breasts regularly for unusual changes If you’re 50-69: • Get regular screening mammograms at least
every two years • Get an annual physical breast exam from you health care provider • Check your breasts regularly for unusual changes If you’re 70 or older: • Talk to your health care provider about continuing mammograms • Get an annual physical breast exam from your health care provider • Check your breasts regularly for unusual changes Why should I get a screening mammogram? A screening mammogram is a special Xray of your breast. Once you’re over 50, it is the most effective way to find breast cancer
early. Screening mammograms can detect breast cancer when it is very small, two to three years before you or your physician can feel it. The earlier breast cancer is found the more effective treatment can be. Screen Test is a mammography service within Alberta Health Services providing high quality screening mammography and breast health education, and has consistently exceeded international standards for the early detection of breast cancer.

World traveler stops by Bentley area farm
RAISE SOME CASH! PLAN A BOTTLE DRIVE FOR YOUR NEXT FUNDRAISER
By Treena Mielke Martina Gees was looking for a safe place to pitch her tent when she noticed Dan Sawyer driving his tractor on his farm north of Bentley. She gave him a friendly wave and he waved back. Gees immediately pedaled her heavily packed bike into his yard, hoping Sawyer would allow her to camp on his property for the night. Sawyer got off his tractor and went over to meet her and when she told him she simply needed a place to camp he was more than happy to oblige. When Dan told his wife Colleen about their guest, she immediately insisted the young woman, originally from Switzerland join them for supper. Gees, who has been cycling throughout South and North America for almost three years, spent the evening with the Sawyers, entertaining them with stories of her travels. Sawyer said the time spent with the 36-year-old world traveler was awesome and she was pleased her husband Three time winner: Samantha Smith won a saddle at Lakeland Rodeo Finals after breaking a three-way tie against Taylor Babcook from Thorsby and Val Frey from Athabasca. Her winning time was 13.2. This was the third saddle Smith had received that week and she dominated juniors in Ponoka winning cash, buckles and two saddles. The 15-year-old rodeo contender competed throughout northern Alberta in competitions held in the spring and summer to make it to the rodeo finals. Photo by Mike Copeman Photography
was able to do minor repairs to her bicycle. “Luckily, Dan was home so was able to fix her kickstand and make an adjustment or two in the shop for her (on her bike). When you have 80 pounds of gear, the kickstand is a pretty important part to be working.” Sawyer said she cooked bacon and eggs for Gees Thursday morning before sending her on her way. “It was such an honor to have her come in. It was such a neat thing to have happen.” She said Gees was hoping to make it to Ma Me O Beach last Thursday. Later, she planned to take a bus to Vancouver where she and friend would fly to Madrid, Spain. From Spain the pair planned to bicycle to Switzerland. Anyone who wishes to follow Gees can do so by following her on her blog at http://www.colorfish.wordpress. com/ The blog is written in the German language, but can be changed to the English version.

Bentley couple win Best Dressed Yard Award By June Norvila The yard of Dale and Pam Hansen won the “Best Dressed Whole Town Yard award this year as determined by the horticulture section judge of the Bentley Fair. Judging of those who had entered their names, and indeed places, in the Best Dressed Town Yards competition with Martha Krause from Bluffton being toured to the sites. After being notified, Dale and Pam were impressed their yard had won best whole yard even though they lost marks for not having a vegetable garden. The spacious open yard on the double lot is conducive to play for children, and a swing and a sling in the trees offer just such an area. Hanging flowers and flower pots all around add color everywhere. An old porcelain bathtub catches rainwater. Old tree trunks have been made into flower pots. Some of the original stone pillars at the corners of the front deck, originally built by Bob Woolgar, are still standing. Some pillars were taken down when the front steps had to be removed but the original stones were saved and pillars reconstructed from those very same stones by a local mason. The other stones have been saved and it is the plan to reuse them too. Catching the judge’s eye was the gazebo with an old forge, cheese press, and the mandevilla plants clinging to and growing on the antique headboard acting as a back wall. Under the roof as well is a comfortable lounge for hot afternoons in the shade or relaxing evenings watching the sunset.

Dale and Pam Hansen stand next to one of the original stone pillars that mark the front corner of their front deck. The smaller second pillar was reconstructed with original stones after the aging steps were removed. The judge commented how well the old and the new were integrated. Hansens have owned the property for about 15 years and speculate the area could be coming up to100 years old although it seems more likely the original house was built in the late 1920s to mid ‘30s but has been hard to document. Dale has lots more he wants to do like replace windows and maybe re-expose the original stone chimney. “It is an ongoing project, he says as he talks excitedly about stories he has heard about the house. The Best Front Yard was won by Ed Spycher and Best Back Yard by Martin Schneider.

Two of the new events to the Bentley fair in August would be readily welcomed back again. The Blindman Valley BazzArt Show & Sale held in the Bentley Community Hall on the Friday and Saturday showcased artists from Bentley and the surrounding area. There were 11 booths with everything from painting, jewelry making, heirloom sewing and quilting, painting/cards, weaving, Viking shipbuilding, pottery, scarves, stained glass, and a display from the Sylvan Lake Art Club. Nine other artisans also had displays in the gallery ranging from working wooden models, sketch artist, jewelry, painting, leatherwork, and pottery. Although foot traffic was slower than expected on the Saturday, some vendors said they found it worthwhile and would consider coming back. Many just enjoyed showing their talents and sharing their knowledge. One of those was 14-year-old Thomas Mueller who at first glance displayed wooden model kits he had put together, but upon closer investigation was actually showing his handmade, and in many cases, self-designed working scale models of machinery and more. He loved to explain what he had done to those who asked questions. His meticulous work and the amount of detail was amazing. There were loom weaving demonstrations and some artists were working on pieces during the show. Lots of kids had the chance to slip outside and paint their own rock (rocks and paint supplied) and take home a keepsake thanks to head organizer Bobbie Palanuik. For next year, a change of hours is being considered and “we would like to add more unique items, said Palanuik. “I would like to
make it a more cultural bazaar (of art) feeling.â€? On the Saturday the first ever Impressions Country Living Fair trade show was staged in the Bentley High School gymnasium with an obstacle course just outside. The professionalism of the set-up, dĂŠcor, and layout was amazing as the open space of the gymnasium took on a completely different ambiance and look. “I believe there is a need for more health, wellness and fitness activities in our community (of Bentley), as well as promotion for businesses in the area, and I felt this would be a way to do both,â€? stated organizer Jody Gorr of Impressions Massage in Bentley in an e-mail. “The (school) gymnasium made an amazing transformation and was a perfect size for our first event.â€? There were 25 different booths including a variety of charitable groups, businesses, and also some stand-alone displays. There was a Kid’s Corner with face painting, coloring books, movies, and children’s puzzles and toys to keep the youngsters entertained while the adults were busy. Presentations included two blacksmith demonstrations, three sets of dance performances, and music by Jeremy Mielke, Jessie Tylre Williams, Loca Madre and Denver Daines. Fitness activities included trying out kettle bells, Zumba, Kidz Can Yoga, an outdoor boot camp course, and self-defense demonstrations. Kid Zone had Xbox Kinect set up that promotes active lifestyles for youth through video games that involve whole body movement. Thai massage treatments throughout the day were fully booked. A large number of volunteers and supporters were involved, not only to put on the demonstrations, man the booths, and run the activities, but also to set up in the first place and then tear down afterwards. “Thank you (to all) for helping me make this day a reality,â€? said Gorr.
