Full implementation will see high schools provided with four food scraps toters and elementary schools with two. The food scraps would be picked up at least once a week and the district is in discussions with city hall over whether the remaining garbage could be collected as seldom as once a month at elementaries and twice a month at secondary schools, further reducing the district’s costs, Millar said. The nine pilot schools—Byrne Creek, Burnaby Mountain and Burnaby South secondaries, and
Marlborough, Second Street, Clinton, Stride, Brentwood Park and Chaffey-Burke elementaries— took a little while to get up to speed, said Millar. At first, there was a lot of picking improper materials out of the bins by administrators, but not anymore. And for some students, the initiative has been continued at home as well. “The kids have done such a good job at school, they’re going home and telling their parents ‘we need to do this.’” Please see fOOD, a8

An unwanted houseguest proved a handful, requiring six Burnaby RCMP officers to restrain him early Tuesday after a Taser had no effect. A woman had guests over, including the man who she didn’t know particularly well, for a night of drinking and taking drugs, said Burnaby RCMP Corp. Dave Reid. At the end of it all, she was left with the man unconscious on her couch. “He won’t leave and the next time she comes in the room he’s stark naked on the couch.” The woman called her boyfriend explaining the situation and telling him she was afraid to wake the man up because she didn’t know what he was going to do. The boyfriend called Burnaby RCMP at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived at the apartment in the 6500-block of Elgin Avenue, the man was woken up but he was “extremely intoxicated and high and becomes immediately combative,” Reid said.

Police seek help finding missing senior Wanda Chow
wchow@burnabynewsleader
RCMP search crews were out in force Wednesday searching the woods at the base of Burnaby Mountain for clues in the case of a missing senior. Northeast Burnaby resident Gui Feng Tong, 66, last spoke to her family on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The last known sighting was video surveillance footage of her leaving her apartment building two days later on Jan. 18, said Burnaby RCMP Corp. Dave Reid. It’s possible she may be staying with friends that her family doesn’t
know. “In the past she wouldn’t necessarily tell her kids where she was going,” said Reid. “They would find her staying with a friend. But they’ve checked with all her friends that they’re aware of but they haven’t been able to find her.” Tong is described as 5 feet tall, 100 lbs with a slim build. She walks and uses transit, only
speaks Mandarin, and has no known medical issues or conditions. She enjoys picking up bottles and cans but she hasn’t been seen at the bottle depot she frequents, Reid said. And she’s also known to pick mushrooms, which is why police were searching the forested area near her home off North Road and Chapman Avenue in Coquitlam. Anyone who knows Tong’s whereabouts or has seen her since Jan. 18 is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604294-7922. twitter.com/WandaChow

Industrial land, buildings remain scarce in Burnaby wchow@burnabynewsleader.com
Burnaby industrial properties continue to enjoy relatively low vacancy rates, an indication of the lack of such available land and facilities, according to Kyle Blyth, senior associate with Avison Young. In the fall of 2012, Burnaby’s vacancy rate was 3.8 per cent, compared with 2.8 per cent in the spring of 2012 and 3.5 per cent in fall of 2011. That’s consistent with Metro Vancouver’s overall average vacancy rate of 3.6 per cent last fall. It’s all due to a lack of available

location, proximity to the ports, Vancouver airport, Annacis Island and downtown Vancouver. And the lack of supply keeps the prices up. “There aren’t a lot of high-quality, industrial warehouse spaces available in North or South Burnaby.” He noted 3945 and 3955 Myrtle St. near the freeway sold for almost $3.8 million last August after only about a month on the market. In terms of new industrial development space, the most significant site in North Burnaby is 13 acres on Enterprise Street in the Lake City Way area, Blyth said. In South Burnaby, the 64.4-acre former Norampac containerboard mill site at 8255 Wiggins St. which closed in
2011 has since been purchased by Oxford Properties which plans to use it for a business park. The 69-acre phase 2 of Glenlyon Business Park on North Fraser Way and Glenlyon Parkway, owned by Canada Lands Company, recently saw completion of servicing work and lots starting at two acres are now for sale. Conwest Developments is constructing a facility at the southeast corner of North Fraser Way and Byrne Road. And Beedie Development Group has several projects at various stages in the rezoning and construction process, in the Big Bend area. The Beedie project at 8118 North Fraser Way only has one strata unit out of five still

land and new developments for industrial or business park use, said Blyth. Part of the difference between the spring and fall numbers is due to companies moving out of leased properties into strata units they’d purchased. And while, as reported in the NewsLeader, companies located east of Byrne Road in the Big Bend area are frustrated by the lack of transit service there for their employees, Blyth said that wouldn’t affect the lease rates or land prices of area properties. “It’s definitely a value-added having public transit nearby but tenants that need to be in South Burnaby will look at being there regardless,” he said. That’s because what’s most attractive about the area is its central

Two park options for growing Brentwood Influx of new condo towers creates need for more park space Wanda Chow
wchow@burnabynewsleader.com
Burnaby’s rapidly growing Brentwood town centre has over a dozen highrise towers either under construction or in the plans in addition to the several that already line Lougheed Highway. The developments centre around Brentwood SkyTrain station, at Lougheed and Willingdon Avenue, which is key to the area’s transportation plans, but what about meeting the recreation needs of the future residents? Burnaby parks and recreation director Dave Ellenwood said the city is looking at two options for serving that population influx. One is Willingdon Heights Park bounded by Gilmore and Carleton avenues and William Street and Douglas Road. City hall is still trying to purchase the remaining properties on the Gilmore side
of the triangular-shaped park, Ellenwood said. Once it has those parcels, the bigger footprint would allow the parks department greater flexibility in how it redevelops the park. The second is the former site of the Willingdon Resource Centre at 250 Willingdon, next to Eileen Dailly Pool and the Confederation Seniors Centre. A few years ago Burnaby developed a concept plan for the site, which looked at integrating the pool with the seniors centre and possibly adding a community centre, he said. More feasibility studies will have to be done, likely over the next two to three years. That site or the Willingdon Heights park site, or both, could be redeveloped to meet Brentwood’s growth needs, he said. As for timing, “it depends on how fast we want to serve that area and how fast that develops,” as well as how soon the city can purchase the Gilmore properties and set aside
the capital funding. Similar planning work will have to be done around the Cameron Recreation Centre, since the area around Lougheed SkyTrain station is set to one day be significantly redeveloped with higher density projects, Ellenwood said. A concept plan has also been done for Cameron looking at how it can be improved and identifying goals for the shorter term such as making more efficient and intense use of the facility. Ellenwood noted that the property Cameron sits on is relatively large so if the city wanted to expand the rec centre that would be possible. But that’s all farther in the future compared to Bonsor Recreation Complex, which is higher up on the priority list as it’s already seeing highrises under construction nearby. “It’s a longer term situation at Cameron because that area is not going to develop as fast as Metrotown.” twitter.com/WandaChow

ADRIAN RAESIDE:
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Justice stings So-called “Mr. Big” stings have found increasing favour among police investigators for gaining convictions in serious criminal cases. Such was the case with the murder of Chelsey Acorn, a 14-year-old Abbotsford girl. Acorn went missing from her foster home on June 10, 2005. Her remains were found the following spring, in a shallow grave near the Coquihalla Highway near Hope. Taped confessions heard at the trials of Dustin Moir, now 27, and his father, Jesse West, suggested that the two men had strangled her, pushed her naked body into the hole they had dug, and then dropped a large rock on her head. Possible motives and other details of their heinous crime emerged as they confessed to a police officer posing as a crime boss. It’s a strategy that has taken down a number of killers and other criminals in recent years. Critics of the tactic call it unreliable, primarily because some people – as West himself claimed – will tell lies to impress someone they think is a key crime figure, to reap the benefits after they’re accepted into the fold. Fabricated evidence is a possibility. However, careful investigation will usually sift out the truth, particularly when there is more than one accused telling the tales. And ultimately, there will be a judge and/or jury to weigh the evidence in the context of arguments by defence and Crown. It has been suggested that Mr. Big stings should be rejected by the courts. And if that were so, the killers of an innocent 14-year-old girl would still be on the streets, and possibly taking more victims. That is an utter absence of justice. That is not an option. Thanks to good police work, Moir and West got what they deserved – life in prison with no parole for 25 years. —Black Press

Crossroads on the journey of life Crossroads. You may be familiar with them. A lot of my friends are there these days. Maybe it’s our age. Forty-ish, a time when many of us wake up and ask: How did I get here? Most have found a partner, a career, some decent digs and, in many cases, planted a seed or two. And then. Without realizing it, life’s biggest goals have been achieved—at least the ones society pushes on us—before life is even halfway done. Then what? Some go off the rails. Divorces, affairs, alcohol, depression—I see this in my wider circle these days. Great people, smart people, fun people. Suddenly, all muddled up. I get it. I’ve felt some of the same zeitgeist. Happy but unhappy. Sometimes it melds in a strange brew. Crossroads can happen anytime, of course, not just at 40. My last big one was post-

high school, entering the adult world. That juncture of life felt overwhelming in scope—so many decisions, too many possible directions. Fear of missing out on something by choosing the wrong one. At 40, it’s different. Life is so much more entangled, with family, work, bills and community, that the scope of choices can appear forbiddingly narrow. Pop-psych books dismiss this as pessimism. “There are no limits! You can do anything!” Sure. But clear-eyed 40-somethings know there are others to consider should we decide to heed Frost’s advice to take the road less travelled by. There’s a popular saying that says—more or less—the young

have time but no money, the middle agers have money but no time, and the oldsters have both time and money, but then their knees give out. It’s a maudlin view of life, but maybe there’s a lesson there. Maybe it means life will never dish up optimum circumstances for anything, so we should savour the fragments of joy that squeeze in the margins of work, struggles and life’s aches and pains. Most crossroads occur when we’re unclear about our sense of purpose. What’s the goal? Where am I headed? What gives my life meaning? The temptation at these times can be strong to jump at something to shake that awful feeling that often accompanies life at the crossroads. To quote the teens whose very identity is mired in what is perhaps the longest of life’s crossroads, it can really suck. Like you’ve put on the wrong size underwear, or are saddled with a perpetual head cold. But crossroads are good for us,

too. Sometimes they are a space worth dwelling in—inhabiting for a while. Often, without knowing it, we’re saying goodbye. To an old self, to an old life. Perhaps it’s a time to be still, be patient. After all, the new buds don’t burst into flower the day the last leaf falls. And it may not look like it, but that “in-between” time is often filled with tremendous progress and change. Call it chemical, call it psychological. Call it nature doing its silent work of re-tooling. If you’ve been at a crossroads—and I’d argue we all have—you understand. And if you’re there now, take heart. What you’re doing now is important. And if you can, honour it. Crossroads, by definition, remake us. And they’re also a brief stop on the journey. OPINION
‘Lights, camera... inaction’ gains little sympathy Once upon a time, in my years in B.C.’s sometimes-thriving, sometimes-struggling film industry, I met some of the most bombastic, headstrong, self-aggrandizing personalities you’d ever want to share a shuttle to set with. I also met the most creative, resourceful and selfless. As often as not, they were one and the same. These are the calculating individuals who spend their days – and nights – on set, surrounded by lights, cameras and, every so often, action. They film – oops, dating myself since I left in ’07… – they “digitally record” our TV shows, feature films and (boo, hiss) commercials. Long overtime hours, never-ending food and a thirst for making movie magic help inspire them to their careers of choice… makeup artists, FX technicians, script supervisors, performers, cinematographers and grips among them. And these are the people – the estimated 25,000 locals who create our on-screen entertainment – who are asking for their audience’s help now that their once-prosperous industry is slipping away, series by series, blockbuster by blockbuster. Last week, many noticed the provincial government’s just-released 2011 report on employment dismisses their industry outright: “Government has taken a close look at the screenbased entertainment industry as a possible focus for the Jobs Plan, and has not found a compelling case for any additional emphasis on this sector.” So, in a disorganized fanout, they took to Facebook, Twitter and any of the “old media” that would pay attention. Parsing through the rhetoric, what it seems they are asking for is additional tax incentives that make B.C. as financially attractive as other filming locations. What they got was flippancy, and their criticisms were repeatedly deleted from Premier Christy Clark’s Facebook page. (No, not form letters, but hundreds of unique comments from individual workers worried about their future.) Truth is, the public has little sympathy. They see
film workers as highly paid elite who hobnob with the rich and famous at the expense of a family life. While the latter is true, the former is open to debate. Sadly, because so many, while pursuing their dreams, have justified to family and friends about the extent of their wages being Hollywood-sized, they get little sympathy from voters and thus politicians. So now they’re angry – Hulk angry – and they’re starting to get organized… at least, as organized as creative, headstrong, bombastic, selfless people can be. To be fair to the premier, I think my former colleagues’ initial reaction missed the mark. They see Clark’s Jobs Plan as a huge investment to protect actual, well… jobs. I see it as a politician campaigning with millions of our dollars to protect only hers. And I haven’t heard from anybody – not a soul – who privately predicts those efforts will be successful. Hmmm. Clark’s “race to the bottom” comment last week, in which she seemed to be referring to competing film industries and governments, might soon come back to haunt her. In fact, I suggest those who were once gainfully employed in film might want to try to ingratiate themselves with leading candidates, ensuring a friendly face or two come the May 14 election. As well, they might want to spend more time educating both the public and themselves how tax credits actually work. No, these are not the same as subsidies, but nor are they found money. Done right, such incentives are our investment – yours and mine – in an industry that promotes services, supplies and employment in and around the Lower Mainland. And, most beneficial to the province as a whole, it’s an industry that casts light on our tourism industry to those who have both cash and time to spend. The math is out there. Both sides have yet to calculate it accurately.

Auditor offered extension By Tom Fletcher Black Press
VICTORIA – B.C. Auditor General John Doyle has been offered a two-year extension that would carry his term to October, 2015, the eight-year mandate suggested by Premier Christy Clark. The five-MLA committee announced their unanimous decision to offer the extension Wednesday, after a closeddoor meeting to consider Clark’s suggestion. Clark said the government will present amendments in the legislature in February to create a nonrenewable eight-year term for all future provincial auditors. The committee’s B.C. Liberal majority initially rejected the idea of reappointing Doyle and advertised for a replacement. Committee members are forbidden from speaking publicly about how they voted or reasons why, because it is a personnel matter. Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster, the committee chair, said the decision to reappoint Doyle was unanimous. Foster refused to comment further on how the committee came to accept Doyle’s reappointment, or the decision to limit the term to two more years,
except to note it matches with the intended legislation proposed by Clark. Foster said he notified Doyle of the offer Wednesday morning, and is awaiting a response. Foster was the subject of a random audit by Doyle two years ago that raised questions about his constituency office renovations. The other two B.C. Liberals who form the majority are Chilliwack MLA John Les and Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom, both of whom are not seeking re-election in May. Burnaby-Deer Lake MLA Kathy Corrigan and Surrey-Whalley MLA Bruce Ralston represent the NDP on the committee. When the initial decision not reappoint Doyle became public last week, opposition MLAs cite Doyle’s reports criticizing the recent buildup of BC Hydro debt and the state of B.C.’s forest inventory in the wake of a devastating pine beetle epidemic as likely reasons. NDP caucus chair Shane Simpson said he supports reappointing Doyle, but the opposition will have questions about the legislation to limit the position to one eight-year term. Ottawa’s auditor-general gets one 10-year term.

Burnaby RCMP is seeking potential witnesses of a single vehicle crash that happened early on the morning of Jan. 11 on Canada Way near Burris Street. Traffic officers who were conducting speed enforcement in the area at the time saw a vehicle heading eastbound at
high speed. The vehicle lost control while cornering and struck a utility pole on Canada Way near Rayside Avenue. The vehicle sustained severe damage and the driver was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with head injuries. Several other vehicles were in the area at the time and one

driver stopped briefly to help officers at the scene but left shortly afterwards. Anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen the accident or stopped at the scene, is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Section at 604-294-7922. wchow@burnabynewsleader.com

It helps that Burnaby students are now well used to recycling in general. Millar noted that all metal such as old tables and chairs are now recycled, as is styrofoam and even sawdust from woodworking shops, the latter which is mixed in with gardening soil at the district’s works yard instead of landfilled. At Brentwood Park elementary, principal Jillian Lewis said the staff and students were all very proud to hear occasional updates of how much they’d kept out of the landfill. As for the kids getting used to throwing food scraps into a collection bin instead of the garbage, Lewis said with a laugh, “It probably took the adults longer to make the adjustment than they did.”
The officers Tasered him and it did nothing to him. They Tasered him again, also to no avail. By then, six officers had arrived so instead of Tasering him a third time, they decided to physically restrain him, he said, noting it took all six of them to do so. The man was taken to hospital for observation. “Hopefully when he sobers up they’ll find out who he was.” The man faces no charges at the moment, since he was not drunk in a public place and was too intoxicated to know what he was doing when he was fighting with the officers, Reid said. Unless it turns out he has outstanding warrants, he’ll likely be released. • Property crime is high on the priority list for Burnaby RCMP after the city saw a spike of up to a 50 per cent increase in break-and-enters in some areas in 2012. Reid said it’s believed the jump is cyclical, often the result of prolific offenders being released after serving time for previous offences.

ARTHRITIS
Pain free in 2 weeks!
This is what happened to me personally. After suffering for years I desperately tried everything, drugs, natural products, physiotherapy, acupuncture, magnets and nothing was of any real help. Finally I had relief in 2 weeks by taking shark cartilage that was specially processed to preserve the natural active ingredients. This is the kind we are now promoting. I realized then that there are over 50 million men and women that are battling the same illness and getting treatments that are not working well, otherwise we would not have this ongoing huge health problem. In the last 10 years we have helped tens of thousands of men and women to have less pain or no pain at all. This is a by-product of the American food industry. No sharks are caught because of their bones/cartilage. Don’t let activists confuse you. Nick A. Jerch, President We have real EVIDENCE that it works. On our web site you find over 100’s of testimonials with full names and towns. All 100% true. Skeptics may call them. Here are some examples:< Doctor suggested knee replacement after all his options failed with drugs and cortisone shots in knee and lower back. I recommend Bell Shark Cartilage to those millions suffering needlessly like I did for 40 #1 years with arthritis in my knees. It's a shame that I was given drugs and injections all these years when a natural medicine could have spared me the endless torture day and night. Pat Laughlin, Coldwater, ON <My hip is 95% pain free. Pain killing drugs mask and Bell Shark Cartilage heals. Rebecca Hite, Oroville, CA<I tried another brand and pain came back. 2 weeks on Bell and pain is gone again. Gert Dupuis, Hanmer, ON<Cancelled knee replacement. I was in pain and limping. Have no more pain now. Can square dance for hours. Anton Melnychuk, Porcupine Plain, SK.<For 32 years I cried barrels of tears. Was in and out of hospitals costing society tens of thousands of dollars. I have taken many thousands of pills that nearly killed me. Finally 3 bottles of Bell Shark Cartilage costing les s than $100 stopped a lifetime of suffering without side effects. Eleanor Sauson, Shigawake, QC<Others write: Can walk again for hours…Climb stairs without hanging on to railing…First time in 15 years can sleep at night…Rheumatoid pain in joints down 90%, same for my sister. Bell relays 100% truthful user’s free speech. No need to make claims. No money is paid for it. No questions asked guarantee.
Heartburn Reflux
By Dr. Chakib Hammoud, M.H.,PhD.
The USDA now recommends to eat 50% alkaline food (vegetables, legumes, salads, fruit). Health professionals suggest 80% alkaline food. Unfortunately, North American people eat 90% acidic food (meat, pasta, rice, bread, pastries, sweets, junk food). If you cannot change your diet to USDA’s 50% or closer to 80% alkaline food, consider to supplement with a natural health product that helps to increase your pH alkaline level close to a healthy #7. Ask for Bell Acidic Stomach/Alkaline Balance #39. It’s inexpensive, has no side effects and may eliminate the need for anti-acid pills many people take. As a bonus, an alkaline balanced body prevents many illnesses. See guarantee printed on box. < Reflux gave me a sore throat and I could not sing in the church choir anymore. After taking Bell #39 I have no more reflux and rejoice in singing again. Helene Giroux, 65, Quebec, QC < Have family history of heartburn. For last 10 years I suffered a lot with acid reflux. I told all family members about #39 being all natural, giving quick relief and having no side effects. Michael Fasheh, 49, Port Ranch, CA< Very happy with acid reflux relief. Last 4 years had increasing reflux despite taking anti-acid products. I am also trying to eat more alkaline food. Grzegorz Smirnow, 43, Mt. Prospect, IL

CONTROL WEIGHT = CONTROL BLOOD SUGAR
By Dr. Chakib Hammoud, M.H.,PhD.
Long term weight control without controlling blood sugar is destined to fail. This is why we have an epidemic of obesity. How it works: Stops the “roller coaster” of cravings and appetite to eat foods like sugar and starches that cause high blood glucose levels, which then brings on your pancreas to automatically pump insulin into your blood stream. Subsequently the high level of insulin precipitates low levels of blood glucose and cravings for more sugar and starchy carbohydrates (breads, noodles, crackers, cereals, french fries) which you don’t need and therefore it goes into unwanted fat storage and being overweight. Experts now recognize these basic facts.#40 Bell Blood Sugar Imbalance helps to stop this vicious cycle and puts you in control. Dr. Hammond says this natural product works 10 times better because it reprograms our brain and pancreas to release insulin in a controlled manner. Helpful non-fattening eating suggestions in the #40 box. Fibers and exercise like walking are beneficial and help after you control the underlying basic blood sugar imbalance. < Working in a health food store I heard people saying how well #40 works. I tried it myself. Finally a product that controls my blood sugar much better than what anything else we had in the store. Thank you for helping people around the world. Irene M. Urdialez, 43, Brynton Beach, FL < My medical indicated pre-diabetic. I took #40. When re-tested readings were fine. This helped my metabolism and my weight is down 25 lbs. I am grateful to the health food store people for their advice. Michael O’Brien, 60, Rutherglen, ON < I finally found the right approach to lose weight. I tried for 3 years to lose weight. After starting #40 my blood sugar is stable now. I was able to stop overeating and lost my excess weight. Sara John, 40, Kitchener, ON < I was struggling for 15 years with weight gain in spite of diet and exercise. I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I will forever be grateful to the store manager that explained to me to take #40 and read suggestions to avoid fattening foods. I lost 70 lbs. My fasting blood sugar is now 92. My 2 hour post meal glucose level is now 92 as well. My new shape raised my self-esteem and gave me immeasurable peace of mind. Karen Maples, 55, Clarksville, TN <Diabetic eliminated high blood sugar levels with #40. My readings were 140 to 200 and are now 99 to 122 range where I want it to be. Before I bought about 10 different supplement that were more expensive and didn’t work as well. I also lost some weight. A great improvement in my health and daily living. BCLC seeks new casino site near South Surrey

Delta, Langley, White Rock and First Nations on radar
Gateway Casinos holds at the former Newton bingo hall in Surrey to the new site to “recreate what they were trying to do in South Surrey.” The Semiahmoo reserve is just across Highway 99 from the rejected site and would have some of its benefits – notably proximity to the border to intercept some Canadians who will otherwise gamble in the U.S. But Graydon cautioned the reserve would require sewer and water infrastructure upgrades to service a four-star hotel and he was unsure adequate land could be assembled in nearby White Rock. A new site would be picked based on how well it would tap demand from local gamblers without unduly competing with existing casinos, Graydon said. Other considerations would include whether strong infrastructure is in place and how much capital investment would be required. Village living in South Surrey
Saving time and money at Morgan Crossing By Kerry Vital
Morgan Crossing is ringing in the New Year with a great price on all remaining Focus homes until Jan. 31. The Focus homes are two- and threebedroom condominiums in the heart of the popular village, and Director of Sales Bryan Woolley says they’ve proven to be very popular. “The homes are really well-designed,” he says, adding, “Now is the time to buy ... these homes are priced to sell.” With spacious floorplans ranging from 922 to 1,270 square feet and plenty of amazing features such as engineered wood flooring, gorgeous countertops and an open-plan layout, buyers will easily find things to love about their new home. The biggest draw of the homes at Morgan Crossing is the amazing village lifestyle that you get when you purchase here. The village has shopping, dining, community events and amenities right outside your front door. The homes at Focus are located directly above Thrifty Foods, so going grocery shopping is incredibly easy. “You don’t have to stock up on groceries if you don’t want to,” says Woolley. “It’s just two minutes from your home into the store. You can do it during a commercial break!” If you’re craving a dinner out, Morgan Crossing offers you a range of choices from White Spot to Pita Pit. When it’s time for dessert, Mink A Chocolate Cafe or Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is right around the corner. Shopping is simple at the variety of stores at Morgan Crossing, from Jacob to Town Shoes to Winners. Even a workout is right outside, with the Steve Nash Sports Club in the village. “People fall in love with the village,” Woolley says. “It sets Morgan Crossing apart.” The community feel is especially important. “The social possibilities really attract people,” says Woolley. In fact, he notes that the events at Morgan Crossing continue to bring residents out in droves. Past events have included car shows, fashion shows and movie nights. A wide range of people have purchased homes at Morgan Crossing, from downsizers to young firsttime buyers. This makes for a good mix of people around and plenty of opportunities to chat with new people, Woolley says. Cost-savings are a big thing at
“
People fall in love with the village,” says Director of Sales Bryan Wooley. “It sets Morgan Crossing apart.” Morgan Crossing as well, as you won’t need a car to complete all of your errands, and you may find yourself entertaining at home a lot more often instead of heading out on the town because everything is right at your fingertips. This also saves you a lot of time, meaning you can spend more of it doing the things you really want to do rather than rushing around trying to get everything done before finally being able to head home after a long day. For more information, visit the real estate presentation centre at 103157755 Croyden Dr., South Surrey, next to Thrifty Foods in the village, open daily (except Fridays) from noon until 5 p.m. Condos start at just $269,900 during the promotion.
