Greater Trail residents start off 2014 with a lot of splashing TRAIL STAFF West Kootenay Advertiser
The New Year started with a cold jolt for some Greater Trail enthusiasts who put on their swim trunks and plunged into the Columbia River for the 24th annual Polar Bear Swim. About 145 swimmers participated while 200 onlookers witnessed them take off into the water that sat at about 0 degrees on the first day of the year. The Gyro Park tradition continues to draw a crowd, according to event organizer
Cpl. Chris Buckley of the 44th Field Engineer Squadron. “This has turned into a really enjoyable family-oriented community event,” he said. “We have whole families that take part, different charity groups, some groups do some fundraising; it’s just an all around good time.” He attests that if you can swim in Kootenay Lake in the summer, the winter dip is doable. After the plunge, swimmers cover their costumes and cozy up in robes and boots by a fire on the beach while organizers
draw raffle tickets for winning participants. “The trick is to take care of your feet,” said enthusiast, Ray Tenisci who chose to be a spectator this year. “A lot of people come out of the water and race right up to the campfire but your feet can freeze half-way there. It’s better to put your boots back on first.” Kootenay Boundary Fire and Rescue Services were on hand patrolling the bay in their rescue boat to ensure the event was safe for all but weren’t required to intervene.

Greenhouses gone tropical nelson Staff West Kootenay Advertiser
Thanks to a generous donation from Martech Electric and installation done by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 1003, SEEDS greenhouses now has the useful amenity grow lights. “The greenhouse looks like a radiant
floating vessel, illuminating the park,” said SEEDS coordinator Lee Reid. “We now have 12 hours of sunshine, daily, which will send us into a level of food production that we never dreamed was possible.” SEEDS stands for Seniors Economic Environment Development Society and consists of seniors,
youth, and families who are interested in food security and making use of onceidle greenhouses at Lakeside Park. Together, they grow organic greens for use in the community. The brilliant metal halide lights arrived at the greenhouse just before Christmas and now growing indoors is possible throughout the darkest winter
months. “Gardening is a sunny day every day now at the greenhouse.” Volunteers celebrated the generous donation of lights and installation. “We want to acknowledge the generosity of these men who serve the community, and are usually behind the scenes,” said Reid.

Linking Names with Places
Let’s keep our worLd green!
Nelson mayor named Crescent Valley West Kootenay Advertiser
Forty-second in an almost alphabetical series on West Kootenay-Boundary place names Nelson realtor Charles Forbes McHardy (1875-1948) is credited with naming Crescent Valley, at the lower end of the Slocan Valley. According to George Melvin’s The Post Offices of British Columbia it was “on account of [the] crescent-shaped hill behind [the] valley.” The name was added to the CPR timetable on May 6, 1906. The Nelson Daily News of January 3, 1911 explained “About six years ago ... Charles F. McHardy of the firm McDermid & McHardy, while on a hunting expedition ... first realized the extent and value of this land, with the result that they acquired large areas …” McHardy went on to serve as mayor of
The community took its name after a crescent-shaped hill. Greg Nesteroff
Nelson in 1921-22 and is remembered in the city’s McHardy Street. (Another Nelson mayor, the late Tex Mowatt, was a longtime Crescent Valley resident.) Crescent Valley owed much of its early existence to Quebec lumberman Joseph Patrick, who built a large sawmill there in 1907, and put his hockey-playing sons Lester and Frank to work for him. The mill’s sale in 1911 to the British Canadian Lumber Co. helped finance the birth of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association.

The Crescent Valley post office opened in 1910. Founding postmaster Curtis W. Lester was Joseph Patrick’s nephew. According to Yvette Swanson’s A Look in the Past, Crescent Valley was formerly known as Bourgeois Siding, after George Bourgeois and family, who began homesteading there at the turn of the 20th century. However, no contemporary references to this name have yet been found. Craigtown Several
sources
indicate Craigtown and Green City, ghost towns on the west side of Erie Creek near Salmo, were the same place, but we’ll treat them separately. Craigtown was first mentioned in the Rossland Miner of June 13, 1896: “The miners on the north fork of the Salmon river have started a new town called Craigtown, seven miles from Salmon siding on the Nelson and Fort Sheppard railway. The town already boasts one hotel, one assay office and numerous residences.” But by August 1897, it was still not well

The Board of Education of School District No. 20 (Kootenay Columbia) seeks 3 individuals to volunteer to sit on a newly formed Revenue Generation committee for a 2 year term. This committee is focused on: • Identifying and reviewing current revenue generation and capacity building efforts • Reviewing our existing policy (Revenue Generating Activities and Commercialism) and making recommendations to Policy Committee if changes are desired • Exploring opportunities for revenue generation in order to supplement but not take the place of provincial funding This committee is scheduled to meet 5-6 times a year and will report back to the Board of Education with recommendations. known, for journalist R.W. Northey wrote in The Ledge: “‘Give me a ticket for Craigtown, please,’ was the request I made to the ticket clerk at the Rossland station of the Red Mountain Railway last Monday. ‘Craigtown?’ he ejaculated with a surprised stare. ‘Where’s that?’“ In a few instances it was called Craig’s camp or Craig City. So who was Craig? The Northport (Wash.) News of March 4, 1897 wrote: “Captain Craig of Craig city, B.C. and pioneer of the North Fork, has been here the past few days visiting old friends ...” The Nelson Tribune of November 22, 1900 said: “W.R. Craig of Erie is the owner of ... promising claims on Craig mountain.” This was likely Robert W. Craig (1845-?), listed as a prospector in Erie on the 1901 census. Craigtown Creek, which flows into Erie Creek, perpetuates the memory of his short-lived city.

Looks Toyota has always been a logical purchase, based on reliability and durability but now its designs too are capturing buyers with a visual, desirable esthetic. The 2014 edition is 7.5cm longer (mostly in the rear seat and cargo area), 1.5cm wider and 3cm lower. The stance is wide and lower, making more of a visual impact. Combine this with a large grille borrowed from the Tundra pickup truck and the Highlander has a very rugged, yet polished, look that

The cup holder is large and the centre armrest has a massive storage area inside; this is thanks to the removal of the stowaway seat that used to hide under the centre armrest. Now in the second row of seats there are three permanent seats or two captain’s chairs in the top Limited model. The previous hideaway idea was simple but not so comfortable. The biggest change takes place in the third row of seats, where three people can sit rather than just two. In addition,
there is 100L of cargo space behind the third row of seats offering much better functionality. It has all the interior amenities that one expects in a modern three-row crossover, even a system that allows the driver’s voice to be amplified through the stereo for easier conversations with passengers in the very back, but there seems to be a lack of sophistication compared to its competition. Drive The previous Highlander was available with a 4-cylinder engine and front wheel drive (FWD). It’s with a standard 3.5L V6 with 270hp, matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission, also with FWD. The starting price stays at $31,680; factoring in the backup camera there is good value here. When it arrives later this month, the base LE with all wheel drive (AWD) starts at $34,180. I think most people will opt for the LE with convenience package that includes 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, satellite radio and leather steering wheel to name a few. This brings the price up to $34,480 for the FWD and $36,980 for the AWD. On the road, the AWD system sends power to just the front wheels as often as possible with only 10 per cent of the torque shifting when cornering. The system has the ability to shift or lock up to 50 per cent of the power for better traction but limiting it to times
when it is truly needed helps improve fuel economy. The other part of the fuel economy story is the all-new 6-speed automatic. The official fuel rating for the most popular AWD model is 11.5L/100km in the city and 8.2L on the highway, which is almost a full litre improvement in combined highway/city economy over the 2013 model. The rear suspension has been modified for a slightly more dynamic drive and improved ride. The steering is rather light and vague but the buyers of this type of product will appreciate the ease of use.
OF THE WEEK:
Verdict The Highlander is a functional vehicle for young buyers with kids and friends that need to get to practice and carry all the sports equipment that goes with it. Overall, a very good family crossover that will get the job done every day.

Go to drivewayBC.ca to submit your answer.
With challenging road conditions across the province, January is always one of the highest months for crashes in B.C. Take some small steps to prepare your vehicle for the conditions, such as checking your tire pressure – tires deflate more quickly in cold weather – and top up your vehicle’s anti-freeze, windshield washer fluid, and gas.

Self-driving cars could be the future of travel The electronics and computer-driven features of modern automobiles continue to evolve at a rapid pace. Until now, however, most of these features have been manually employed. But the self-driving car, once a concept reserved only for science fiction, may make driving even more passive in the near future, with some slated to hit showrooms as early as 2017.
Google, as a pioneer of some of the more advanced self-driving automobile technologies, says that computer-navigated cars are safer than manually operated automobiles. But will the public embrace such vehicles? Autonomous cars are already being operated in California, Nevada, Florida and certain areas within the United Kingdom. At the 2013 Consumer Electron-
ics Show in Las Vegas, Toyota and Audi unveiled their prototypes to sell to regular car buyers, while Ford and Mercedes-Benz are working on their own self-driving technology. Legislation within the United States has already paved the way for autonomous cars to be tested on private roads. Once these cars are made available to the public, legislators will begin the task of
revising driving laws and may need to reconsider how drivers earn their licenses. Although the technology differs depending on the manufacturer, in the Google autonomous vehicle, a number of components are working in concert to enable the vehicle to move safely. At the heart of the system is a laser range finder mounted on the roof of the car. This laser gener-
ates a detailed 3D map of the environment. The car then combines these laser measurements with established high-resolution maps of the world. The vehicle also employs other sensors in its technology. Radars mounted on the front and rear bumpers enable the car to detect its surroundings. Cameras detect traffic lights, while GPS and inertial measurement units will help to

keep track of the vehicle’s location and various movements. Data is also programmed into the car so it can differentiate stationary objects like poles and mailboxes from factors in the environment, such as pedestrians or construction. The Google vehicles also are programmed to follow road rules and make assessments of changingsituations, such as advancing at a
four-way-stop if other drivers have not yet moved into the intersection. The goal of self-driving car manufacturers is to reduce congestion and accidents and keep traffic flowing more smoothly. Automakers will continue to conduct research to see how well self-driving cars and the people inside them work together.
The real deal. Only $12,995 while supplies last.

The highs and lows of driving on a German Autobahn By Keith Morgan
Much motoring mythology surrounds Germany’s speed limitless autobahns. Many readers who favour an increase in posted limits on our freeways point to the superbly engineered German highways as the example to follow. The latest round of praise follows the recent Insights West poll conducted for Black Press that found 37 per cent back increased limits on routes such as the Coquihalla Highway. And doubtless BC Transportation Minister Todd Stone will hear the same in his review of highway speed limits during the eight regional public forums being held this month. Hate to be a party pooper but today’s autobahns really don’t live up to their past reputation. They are excellent to drive but if you expect to cruise along at 250 km/h for the duration of a multi-hour journey you will be disappointed. In recent years, I’ve driven thousands of kilometres along high-speed freeways throughout Europe while attending launches for a variety of high-powered cars. One of the most memorable trips I drove was the 585 kilometres between Munich and Berlin, which I covered in an Audi A6, with a 2.8-litre V6 generating 207 horsepower under the hood. Just like Vancouver, Munich is a thriving city and there’s congestion with a capital C even on the A9 autobahn. The queues continue even 30 kms outside of the city but it must be said that they move at a uniform speed of 100 km/h! To say there are no speed limits is inaccurate: I encountered city areas where the maximum was 120 km/h overnight between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. There are also restrictions in motorcycles, large trucks and cars towing trailers. What I find most interesting was the unwritten rule, which, while it can’t be enforced, if you disobey it and are involved in a collision it may cost you. Say what? – The advisory speed limit under this “rule” is 130 km/h, referred to in German as the Richtgeschwindigkeit. Smash up at a higher speed and you could be found partially responsible due to “increased operating danger”. Within an hour, I was comfortable with the car and itching to let it go. It seemed to be tugging to the right at one point but that was near the car’s birthplace at Ingolstadt. On the other hand, it could have been a crosswind. You can only pass another car in the left lane. The right lane is for slower vehicles so you risk a ticket if you pass on the right at any speed. That threat didn’t seem to worry too many in the approaches to the various urban areas along the way. As the traffic thinned, I wound up the A6 to 200 km/h for less than a minute and shortly after I managed to hit 220 km/h but that lasted all of 20 seconds. I managed to do 180 km/h for about three minutes before slowing to 140 for a sustained period of around 20 minutes. Europe is full and nowhere is that more evident than on the roads. I found 120 km/h was more easily achieved for most of the journey and
seemed to be more typical a speed for most. From Munich city limits to Berlin it took me around 5 hours 30 minutes, which means I averaged about 105 km/h. Pretty good but not the 200 km/h many think you can do. There’s the reality check: Generally, I agree that some of our freeways could stand a slight increase in the posted limit, especially in the rural areas where drivers would likely be able to maintain the top speed more easily than on the theoretically speed limitless autobahn. Next week: The so-called Texas Autobahn. keith.morgan@drivewaybc.ca

Before looking ahead with hope for a promising new year, indulge me while I check my rearview mirror. My review of 2013 might offer you some thoughts to ponder for your 2014. I tried to count how many cars I tested last year. I tried. However, I could only come up with an approximate figure. And it comes in at around 102. That’s a lot of vehicles. And it doesn’t even include motorcycles, ATVs, ROVs and anything else that you could consider some sort or transportation or recreational vehicle. So, within that lot, you have to either be pretty good or pretty bad to stand out. Though, there were a few surprises along the way that made the list. Here are the cars that stuck with me and still leave me wanting more (or less.) Making the top of my list as the most memorable car that I drove is not what you’d expect. It’s the 2013 Nissan NV200 Cargo Van. – Say what? Without taking up too much space, I fell in love with its utility, its The Ford Fiesta practicalST makes the list ity and its because, in all the ability to years that I’ve been be a worktesting vehicles, I horse, e v e n have never been as though it tempted to impulse only has buy a car. 131 horseAlexandra Straub power. buy a car. For under $25K you get a firecracker of a car, a manual transmission, 197 horsepower and an amazing chassis setup. For an everyday driver and a car you could put on the track, it’s just stellar. The smile on your face when driving is included in the price tag. The least bang for your buck, that I tested, comes with the 2013 BMW 320i xDrive. At $46,500, that’s pretty steep for a car that doesn’t even have a backup camera or streaming Bluetooth audio. Not to mention, it comes with a humble 181 horsepower engine. That said, it’s a BMW, therefore has some nice touches to it. Put it in Sport mode, tinker with the throttle and you’ll instantly become a happier person. And for everyday driving, I really had no complaints. My favourite convertible of the year goes to the Bentley Continental GT Speed drop top. It’s not hard to see why. Yes, I could have opted for the Porsche Boxster S (it came so close and is hundreds of thousands of dollars cheaper,) but I hand the title to the Brits because I love the craftsmanship. After all, that’s what luxury is all about. Getting inside and feeling like you’re in your living room, albeit a posh and exquisitely detailed living room. And one that has 616 horsepower and all-wheel drive. Sign me up. It’s always a fabulous time when I can be behind the wheel of a racecar. I had two opportunities. The first came when I participated in the Bridgestone Racing Academy at the Driver Development Track at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Two days behind the wheel of a Van Diemen Formula car was heaven. And I learned a thing or two about car control (www.race2000.com) Then, I drove a track ready vehicle that was super fast and zero emissions. Nissan’s world renowned LEAF was available for laps at the manufacturer’s international event called Nissan 360. But this one was a little more special. It was the LEAF NISMO RC (RC stands for race car) and had been on tracks around the world. It was lightening fast and of course, a very memorable experience. And while I loved most of all the cars I drove in 2013, adding the 2014 VW Touareg TDI to the family was certainly a highlight of my year. alexandra.straub@drivewaybc.ca

Secrets of the Chevrolet Camaro . . . it’s a Canuck! By Rob Sass
One of North America’s favorite pony cars, the Camaro has an interesting past with more than a few buried facts and secrets hiding just below the radar. Here are five of my favorites: The Camaro was almost called the Panther — It took a while for Chevrolet to come up with a final name for the Camaro. For quite some time it was referred to internally as the Chevrolet Panther. In end, Chevy’s preference for names beginning with a “C” won out, and the Panther name died as part of an elaborate PR campaign. The Camaro was actually Canadian — like William Shatner and Michael J. Fox, the seemingly All-American Camaro was actually stealth Canadian. From 1993-2002, the Camaro and its twin, the Pontiac Firebird, were built in St. Thérèse, Quebec, a Montreal suburb. “Camaro” means nothing — The name was actually a contrived moniker, much like “Camry” and “Corolla.” Although some claim that it is French slang for “friend,” neither the GM product people (nor most French-speakers, for that matter) are aware of this. “Outpaced” the Mustang — Although the Camaro
came 2½ years after the Mustang and was often outsold by the Mustang, it has a healthy lead in the Indianapolis 500. The Camaro has been the official pace car at Indy six times, versus just three for the Mustang. Only the Corvette (12) has paced more 500s than the Camaro. Current Base V-6 Puts V-8s of old to shame — Amazing as it may seem, the 2013 base six-cylinder engine, at 323 hp, puts out more ponies than the most powerful small-block V-8 in the original car (295 hp). In fact, it probably makes nearly as 1969 Camaro: Hagerty’s 1969 Camaro SS much power as the fiercest big block V-8 of 1967, the 396 cubic inch, 375 restoration process or where the Camaro is now please hp. Is the new year a good time for a new car? Many people like to begin the new year with a fresh start, making resolutions to change bad habits improve their overall health. Others may be interested in changes they can make that will present new opportunities, such as career goals or relocating. While health- and career-related resolutions are popular come the dawn of a new year, many men and women also ponder the benefits of buying a new car when the calendar year starts anew. Professionals in the automotive industry do not always agree as
to when is the best time to buy a new or preowned car. Some will tell you to shop on rainy days or near closing time from the dealership, and some shoppers insist that they will only buy a new car at the end of a month. Unfortunately, there is no magical day when buyers are guaranteed to get the best bargains on new or preowned automobiles. Oftentimes, the best time to buy a new car is when buyers are in the best financial position to make such purchases. For a variety of reasons, the
dawn of a new year may be a good time to buy a new vehicle. With the holidays behind them, buyers may have more disposable income to put toward down payments. Cash gifts received from friends and family during the holidays can go a long way toward financing a new vehicle purchase. What’s more, many businesses give their employees year-end bonuses as a token of appreciation for a year of hard work. When all of these financial factors are put together, buyers may find the new year is a great time to buy a
new car. New model year vehicles will need homes on dealers’ lots, motivating dealers to mark down last year’s models at consumerfriendly prices. Dealerships often slash prices on older models beginning in October and December, but such discounted vehicles are often still available at even greater discounts come January. Promotions and holidays seem to go hand-in-hand. In the United States, Presidents’ Day, which occurs in mid-February, is a prime time for manufacturers to drum

up business during a traditionally slow buying time. Prospective buyers can do their research now and begin comparing car features and pricing, and then be ready to take advantage of sales once they are announced. As a new year begins, many consumers consider buying new cars. But before signing on the dotted line, prospective buyers should examine their finances and study the automotive industry to ensure they get an affordable bargain.

Pick of the Week: The MINI Paceman Snow Beast is a wild thing. MINI ascends to dizzy heights once again to present another member of the MINI family in an original creative guise in the Swiss snow sport resort of Laax. At last year’s Burton Global Series (BEGS), the PirateArtCrew snowboard artists unveiled an art installation featuring the MINI Countryman. This year Urban Art Illustrator Andreas Preis takes up the challenge to work his magic on a MINI Paceman. Preis is known for his striking designs as displayed, for example, on skateboards and snowboards. Using his expressive illustrative skills, the artist has taken the MINI Paceman and turned it into a wild MINI Paceman SNOW BEAST in time for the start of the competitive event next week.
ICBC Safety Tip With challenging road conditions across the province, January is always one of the highest months for crashes in B.C. Take some small steps to prepare your vehicle for the conditions, such as checking your tire pressure – tires deflate more quickly in cold weather – and top up your vehicle’s anti-freeze, windshield washer fluid and gas.

Horoscope Michael O’Connor
for the
Week January 10, 2014
Tip of the Week: As the momentum of 2014 builds, there are some potent planetary alignments adding to the pace. Mars and Jupiter crossed swords on January 8 contributing to a larger pattern involving Uranus and Pluto. As well, we are contending with a sequence of retrograde planetary activity involving the three main personal planets: Venus, Mercury and Mars and with Jupiter and Saturn, the social planets, as well. 2014 began with Venus Retrograde since December 21, 2013. Since the Winter Solstice Astrology Chart represents the spiritual themes slated to unfold over the course of the year, it represents an important theme. The main issue with Venus Retrograde is excessive materialistic values and attitudes. Thus these will come into question this year. Venus turns direct again on January 31, yet it will take until mid- March before it recovers its ‘shadow period’. This ‘recovery period’ is not as powerful as when the planet is actually retrograde but it does still contain some if its residual energy. Then on February 6 Mercury will turn retrograde in Pisces re-entering Aquarius on February 12 and will only turn direct again on February 28. The shadow period of Mercury will continue until about March 20. Meanwhile, on March 1st Mars turns retrograde and will remain so until May 19 and it will take until July 20 before it fully recovers from its shadow period. Saturn and Jupiter are tightly woven into this succession as well. Jupiter turned retrograde back on November 6, 2013 and turns direct again on March 6th, yet remaining ‘in the shadow’, until June 2nd. Finally, Saturn turns retrograde again on March 2nd and will remain so until July 20th and only fully recovers its ‘lost ground’ on October 31st. Altogether, this portrait reveals a dynamic, impulsive and assertive, even aggressive energy pattern reaching right through to mid-summer, yet is countered by the more introverted and restrictive expressions of planets when retrograde. Yes, 2014 is loaded with complexity.

TAURUS (APR 20 – MAY 21)
SCORPIO (OCT 22 – NOV 21)
GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUN 21)
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 21 – DEC 21)
CANCER (JUN 21 – JUL 22)

PISCES (FEB 19 – MAR 20)
A sturdy march in 2014 for you describes the way the planetary alignments show. The pace is a consequence of both practical ambitions and brewing conflicts on relationship borders. You are unlikely to meet these with warmth and understanding that will cause you to yield. Even with the prospect of casualty, you are determined to persevere. Balancing a determined and wilful pace with desires for space and freedom is setting the stage as 2014 gets underway. Aspirations to expand on all fronts remain important to you. Many interactions with others, some of whose ideas and philosophies clash with your own, is the real test. Honour your own individuality and make time for your own pursuits. On one hand circumstances reveal a sobering picture. On the other you feel playful and sporting. Your ability to weave these into a harmonious balance is a central challenge now. Changes in your lifestyle affecting your environment, or the other way around, or both, must be realistically acknowledged. Approach this game like a competitive athlete determined to win. Some major players making definite power moves must be contended with now. Fortunately, you are in an assertive mood and are determined to dig-in deep as necessary. Generally, you have reason to feel confident. Yet, avoid leaning on the status quo. The more willing and able you are to accept and embrace the steady flow of current changes the better. Sober practicality describes the tone of you mood as 2014 gets going. The planetary picture suggests you are determined to advance your position. That you must give more than you might usually is the fine print. The results you seek, however, may not be as apparent as you might like. This is a call for faith. Set a clear intention to persevere all year with clear intentions to win big. The pace of the game is challenging you to be a competitive player. A strong will to learn everything you feel you must and to confront fears of failure are a couple of the strategies required. As well, aim to expand your outreach and to nurture existing connections. Avoid over analysis and affirm you can and will do whatever it takes, as long as it takes.

A good deal of activity close to home should be keeping you busy. Seeing your home, or at least a power zone within it, as your headquarters and/or office will help. Mars in your sign through to July 2014 will help you to overcome obstacles and enter new territory. Some of it is psychological which implies an inspiration and attitude upgrade. You are in the mood to cover a lot of ground now. This includes attending to an array of errands, tasks, projects and people. Be willing to move slower with others especially. You may not feel so sure about all of them and some may feel the same about future prospects with you. Communicate two and three times before making new commitments. Establishing new foundations and or behaviour rhythms replacing recently removed structures and patterns is the call now. However, you are wise to carefully consider the resolve and integrity of others with whom you may be associating these days. Take an experiential and experimental approach and reserve, secure or identify an exit point, just in case… The determination to begin the year on a powerful note is likely. However, you are wise to review whether your reasons and ambitions match your true values. With Venus Retrograde everyone is being challenged to re-assess their priorities and with Venus in your sign it is especially important. Get training or re-training over the coming months for best results. Making diligent efforts behind the scenes now is both likely and ideal. Aim to complete any undertaking or unfinished business now before spring arrives. Avoid procrastination and taking on other projects until what you have begun is done. Faithful and practical perseverance now will increase your confidence and scope of influence by summer especially. Establishing the ground of new friendships and business associations is important now. Yet, there may be some delays until about mid-March anyway. Since your ambitions are running quite high these days, focus to clear-up unfinished business and/or to concentrate on work and creative projects to be ready for openings of opportunity a little later in the year.
