OBITUARIES
ELLIOTT, Ishbel 1926-2015 Born in Vancouver, October 23, 1926. After years of suffering from Alzheimer’s, she peacefully passed away with her daughter at her side at Simpson Manor Residence in Langley on April 19, 2015. She was 88 years of age. Predeceased by her parents, John & Janet McKay, sister Sheila Mitchell, and her husband, Phillip Elliott who passed away on March 12, 1991 after 39 years of marriage. Survived by sons Martin Elliott of Richmond BC, Sandy (Pamela S) Elliott of Bradner BC, daughter Janet (Buck C) Crich of Armstrong BC, and 3 grandsons, Colin Roberts, Michael Elliott and Marc Elliott. A long time resident of Richmond BC, Ishbel was always very active in the community. She was a forward thinker and truly made a difference in the world. She served on the Richmond School Board as a Trustee and Chairperson for many years. She was one of the founding members of Richmond Volunteer services and the Richmond Crisis Line. She was named Good Citizen of the Year in the mid 70s. Later in life after moving to Saturna Island, Ishbel continued working tirelessly for the community, and was on the Parks and Recreation Commission, Woman’s service Club, she formed the first Health Committee of the Community Club and served as President, as well as volunteering at the library and recycling centre. Ishbel had a love of the outdoors and was an avid walker/hiker, dog lover, bird watcher, curled, loved to cook, read, travel, and listen to classical music. She is missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Ishbel was cremated and will be laid to rest next to her husband Phil at Haggis Farm on Saturna Island at a small service to be held on August 8th, 2015. Special thanks goes to all the staff and companions at Simpson Manor who took exceptional care of Ishbel in her declining years.
