Progressive Advantage Progressive has taken the guesswork out of product development to create products that they know will work. What impact will a nutrient have on your digestive system? How will your liver handle the stress of processing it? Is the elimination of the waste materials going to present any problems for your kidneys? These are just a few of the many questions that Progressive addresses before starting with product development. They try to anticipate every possible implication. The latest research and scientific evidence is used to help them design each formula. They use only human clinical evidence to support the use of each ingredient and their combinations; animal and in vitro studies are prohibited.

Progressive® Organics Coconut Oil

Cold & Flu Season: Offers Valid Until Store Closing October 25, 2015

Written by Dr. Alexis Blanks, ND

Lifestyle Markets Celebrates 20 Years in 20 Days!

FALL IS UPON US, which means that in addition to thoughts of back

to school and warmer clothes, this naturopathic doctor is thinking of the coming cold and flu season. At this time of year I encourage my patients to consider a proactive plan to help strengthen their bodies natural defenses to decrease the number and severity of colds and flus in the coming months.

TO SHARE OUR PRIDE IN REACHING 20 YEARS AT THE DOUGLAS STREET LOCATION LIFESTYLE MARKETS IS PLANNING SOME FUN CELEBRATIONS.

Until October 14... there will be in-store giveaways, product demonstrations, samplings and community involvement. Recognising that our customers are the key to our thriving business Lifestyle Markets and all the staff at the Douglas Street store will be looking forward to celebrating 20 years in 20 days with them. Look for more information in store, on the monthly flyer, on the website and on social media.

Manitoba Harvest

This is an excellent time to give your children's health a boost, and yours! With my patients, I love to create immune support plans based on their unique circumstances. The immune system is complex and is affected by many factors including how we eat, sleep, manage stress, exercise, our environmental exposures and our digestive health. Now is a good time of year to get your family's vitamin D levels checked. Vitamin D is produced in our bodies in response to sunlight and is stored until it is needed. It's important for a healthy immune system. After the long, sunny summer that we just had, we would hope that we have a good supply to last us through the winter. However, as many as seven out of 10 Canadians do not meet the suggested minimum level for optimal health.

Liberté

Wholesome, Natural Mediterranean Yogurt

Organic Hemp Hearts Manitoba Harvest: Proud to be “Control Freaks.”

The Art of Yogurt.

Manitoba Harvest controls everything from what seed gets planted, to how products are manufactured & packaged, to distribution. Seed + manufacturing + packaging + distribution = quality seed to shelf! Organic Hemp Hearts are packed full of protein with 10 grams of plant-based protein per 30 gram serving size. Hemp Hearts are a great way to get an ideal ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3‘s including the rare EFA known as Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA).

Manufactured in the purest Mediterranean tradition, this opulent line of yogurts, exclusive to Liberté, is especially popular with gourmets and gourmands. The fruit is at the bottom, and every gourmand has their own way of doling out the flavour.

A healthy response to stress and good quality sleep can do wonders for a challenged immune system. In addition to lifestyle suggestions and counseling, I often suggest different herbal adaptogens and immune tonics to help strengthen body systems. The word adaptogen is used in herbal medicine to discuss those herbs that help the body adapt under stress. Immune tonics have a general strengthening effect on the immune system via a variety of means. Many adaptogens are also immune tonics and vice versa. Here are three of my favourites:

ASTRAGALUS The herb Astragalus membranaceous has been shown to enhance and support several types of cells belonging to the immune system. It has also been shown to have a general tonic quality, increasing tolerance to stress. This is a herb that I might give long term during the winter months to fortify against illness. It is not generally used as an acute remedy (if you are already sick). RHODIOLA ROSA

I think of this herb especially when there is sleep difficulty, low energy and possibly low mood or anxiety. Rhodiola has been found to inhibit stressinduced depletion of neurotransmitters (brain chemicals). Over time, this action can help improve mood and sleep and allow for more efficient function under stressful conditions.

ECHINACEA

Echinacea is a commonly used herb during cold and flu season. It has demonstrated immune-enhancing properties as well as anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity. Most people think of echinacea as a herb to be used during acute illness but I have also foud it useful when give longer term in the winter months. If you want to know if you have a good Echinacea product, taste it. The alkylamides, (one of the key constituents) cause a characteristic tingling on the tongue when present. There are many adaptogens and immune tonics that I love to work with, too many to list! These are just a sample of many many wonderful plants that can help to nourish and support us. Please do remember to always speak with your naturopathic doctor/care provider to ensure any product is right for you.

A healthy diet can have a huge impact on how well your immune system performs. Consider now a good time to give your family a diet audit. Write down everything you and/or your child eats for a week and then take a good look. Are you consuming mostly whole foods? That is, food that had only unprocessed, recognizable ingredients, preferably made by you, with no additives or preservatives. How often does sugar work it's way into meals and snacks? Hopefully not often. How many fruits and especially vegetables are you getting in a day? I usually advise my patients to aim for 1/2 a plate of veggies per meal.

I cry at weddings

See Mike Delamont live at Comedy for Cancer gala in Sidney Oct. 1 marywinspear.ca

I cry. I cry a lot. I cry at commercials, I cry at the movies. God forbid I go down the rabbit hole of the happy/sad videos on YouTube of military people coming home or surprise baby announcements. In my defense I am a happy crier. I enjoy it and I tend to awkwardly laugh while I do it. When my wife graduated from university, I didn’t have a chance. I just sat in the audience, proud as could be with tears a streaming down my face, happy as a clam. Last weekend my brotherin-law got married. Like most comedians, the moment somebody tells you that they are getting married it just becomes a countdown to when they ask you to MC. I waited, but miracle of miracles, it never came. They asked a pair of good friends to do it. You could see that some of

All Ages Halloween Party!

the extended family was surprised, but I couldn’t have been happier. Being the MC is a terrible job. You have to write a bunch of clean jokes for family you don’t know, you are the very last to eat, and you really shouldn’t have very much to drink. What kind of wedding is that? I made it about one minute into the ceremony before the water works began. The first bridesmaid, who also happens to be my lovely wife, hadn’t even made it halfway down the aisle before I was a wreck. Add to that some tiny little children carrying rings and tossing flower petals, and I didn’t have a chance! The rest of the ceremony got a little Jesus-y for my taste but to be fair it was a catholic wedding, so I should have known that Jesus would be there. It was at his house after all. After the stand up, sit down, stand up, kneel down, stand up, sit down Pilates class that is the catholic wedding ceremony, it was time for the groom to kiss the bride and time for me to go back to taking pictures and crying like a drunk aunt at … well … at a wedding. I think my favourite part of the whole day was when the bride was walking down the aisle. Everybody is looking

@mikedelamont

at the bride, but I watched the groom. There is something about seeing the man’s face when he sees his bride for the first time. It’s some kind of wonderful. It’s the sentence of the chapter before the page is turned. I found that out when I first saw my wife walking down the aisle, apparently it looked like I smelled a fart. My wife told me I looked so insanely disinterested and bored. Apparently my resting face makes me look like I’m totally disgusted. When I think back on that moment though, I remember how happy, relieved, nervous, and excited I was all at once. Maybe somebody should have told my face. My wife and I laugh about it now, but I did feel bad. The photographer at my brother-in-law’s wedding was a guest at ours and yesterday gave us a CD of some photos she took on our big day. I hate to say it, people were right. I looked so unhappy! My face was so grumpy! It looked like I heard somebody make a pun. In my defense though, when we moved forward in the pictures on the CD and I got to see her walk down the aisle a second time, this time I think I made the right face.

One pair. That’s all it takes. Just one pair of Blundstone boots will make you a fan for life. No laces. All season. Long wearing. Go anywhere. Spine and joint sparing. So comfortable that – surprise! You end up with two pairs.

PASSION FILLS THE OPERA STAGE

V

ictoria’s opera season begins with Otello and closes with A Midsummer Night’s Dream – sandwiched between is the frothy cream of The Barber of Seville. With Verdi and Britten’s adaptations of Shakespeare and Rossini’s take on Beaumarchais, Pacific Opera Victoria celebrates theatre, reborn as dazzling opera. On stage Oct. 15 to 25, Otello sets the stage for drama with insinuation and lies, malevolence and false kindness as this Verdi tragedy unfolds. Established as one of the world’s most promising and exciting dramatic tenors of his generation, Lithuanian tenor Kristian Benedikt makes his Canadian debut in the title role. Rossini’s Barber of Seville runs Feb. 11 to 21. This all-Canadian production features Antonio Figueroa as Almaviva, Sylvia Szadovszki as Rosina, and Clarence Frazer as Figaro, is directed by Morris Panych and conducted by Timothy Vernon. A spat between the king and queen of fairies spills into the human realm, as A Midsummer Night’s Dream takes the stage April 14 to 24. David Trudgen is Oberon with Suzanne Rigden as Tytania. Acclaimed Scottish bass baritone Brian Bannatyne-Scott returns to POV as Bottom. The Victoria Operatic Society has some fun in store beginning Dec. 4 to 13 with the classic romantic, musical comedy Meet Me in St. Louis. The show spotlights four sisters on the cusp of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, learning about life and love, courtesy of the prototypical boy next door. In the end, love — accompanied by song, dance and period costumes — conquers all. In the spring VOS presents Monty Python’s Spamalot, an international musical comedy adapted from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend, but differs from the film in many ways. The original 2005 Broadway

production won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004/2005 season. The Gilbert and Sullivan Society jump start their season by joining forces on Nov. 22 with the Victoria Civic Orchestra in a concert to raise money for Victoria Hospice while also benefiting future performances. The program includes Edvard Grieg’s Symphonic Dances op. 64; Camille Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto, no 4, c minor; Gilbert & Sullivan excerpts from Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore and The Mikado. Their next presentation is April 1 to 3 at the Charlie White Theatre in Sidney and April 9 and 10 at the McPherson Playhouse when they perform The Gondoliers. Superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma joins the Victoria Symphony Orchestra for one sold out performance in December. Ma will perform Dvorák’s spectacular Concerto for Cello. Maestra Tania Miller leads the orchestra in Beethoven’s majestic Symphony No. 7 to complete a perfect evening of music. Guest conductor Robert Franz leads the Victoria Symphony for the annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah Dec. 18, with an additional matinee performance Dec. 20 at 2:30pm. Continuing the holiday flavour, Juno-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Holly Cole returns to the VSO to delight audiences with her versatile and distinctive voice, Dec. 19. Mixing jazz, pop and your favourite holiday music, her unique interpretations and original music are applauded as being highly musical, intensely innovative, and refreshingly witty. On April 4, the Symphony’s first cross-Canada tour ends at home with a tour-de-force concert featuring a premiere of a new work by composer Michael Oesterle. After three sold-out performances during their last Victoria visit, the talented and Holly Cole high flying performers from Cirque de performs at the la Symphonie return to the Royal to Royal Theatre delight and amaze April 29. On the RECORD LAURA LAVIN

Ryan Wugalter thought his record collection was pretty impressive – until he started Vinyl Supernova. “I have around 1,000 records. I used to think, before I started organizing the fair, I was a serious collector. Since I’ve been coordinating it, I realized I’m just a minor player in the world of record collectors,” he says. The event, which runs Oct. 24 at the Fernwood Community Centre, was first started by Wugalter in November 2013. “When I moved to Victoria, I liked to sell books and records at local markets around town and I asked if there was (a music fair) and was told, not in 20 years.” With support from local music

shops, he launched Vinyl Supernova, a one-day fair, which includes dozens of vendors selling records, CDs and music memorabilia of all sorts. “We have every genre you can think of – genres I didn’t even know existed,” he says. Wugalter worked in a record shop as a teen and feels music is an integral part of our culture that appeals to everyone in all its forms. “A lot of people come to check out, not only records and turntables, but to connect with people who maybe just have a few records in their basement like they do.” The fair includes a mix of old and new recordings LPs, 45s, as well as turntables, posters and books. The fair is at 1240 Gladstone Ave. 10am to 4pm, admission is $2 at the door.

THE BIG PERSONALITY

Kate Braidwood

LAURA LAVIN editor@mondaymag.com Kate Braidwood spends her life hiding behind a mask. When she came to the University of Victoria to study fine art, she got a taste of performing with the unique form of camouflage. Further education took her to Dell’Arte International a school that trains students in the art of physical theatre. “Yes, you can get an MFA in ensemble-based physical theatre,” Braidwood says with a soft chuckle. “Part of the training at Dell’Arte is studying masks. I’d done it a little at UVic, and I remembered I had such a good time doing it – it was a stepping stone along the way to my interest at Dell’Arte,” the 2003 grad says. For her thesis she had to create and perform a piece, which grew into her theatre company, Wonderheads. “I wanted to explore this wordless form,” she says. “What I love about it so much is that it captures the magic of live theatre. What happens with the masks … you have to see it live to see it come to life. It’s hard to describe.” Braidwood studied mask performance with Joan Schirle and Ronlin Foreman, mask design with Bruce Marrs and worked with Berlin-based mask company Familie Flöz. In 2009 she teamed up with fellow Dell’Arte graduate, Andrew Phoenix, to create the Wonderheads, now based in Portland Ore. The performances use full-face

masks, it’s a wordless form that mixes European larval mask traditions with character mask styles, resulting in a craft rarely seen on North American stages. “(The mask) is static. It doesn’t technically move but it does,” she says. “It’s a magical thing – it shouldn’t happen but it does and you have to see it live to experience it. It’s magical and whimsical, I love that about it. It has to be theatre to happen.” Braidwood admits it’s a demanding art form. “I love it for its magic and whimsy, but also because it’s really challenging. It never gets boring.” The unique art form will be on display at UVic’s Phoenix Theatre Oct. 13 to 23, as the Wonderheads bring their show LOON to Victoria. “I’m excited to come back to the Phoenix for the alumni show. It’s so cool and an honour to be selected,” she says. LOON is a love story that whisks a man to the moon and back. Francis, a lonely janitor is plagued by isolation and tickled by whispers of childhood imagination and believes plucking the moon from the sky might bring him love. “It wasn’t created as a family show. It’s cartoonish in style but it deals with things like love and loneliness,” says Braidwood. LOON is recGet tickets at ommended finearts.uvic.ca for ages 8 and up.

Art of the Cocktail returns, celebrating the best of the west

The Art of the Cocktail, Victoria’s cocktail festival, returns Oct. 24 and 25, with two days of cocktail-centric events around downtown Victoria. On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Crystal Gardens hosts the annual Grand Tasting with a focus on the thriving ‘Best of the West’ coast distilleries, complemented by a pop-up store from Cascadia Liquor Store. This on-site store allows guests to purchase bottles on their way home. The Grand Tasting will also offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy cocktail carnival games, while enjoying a variety of cocktails and food samples from local food providers and restaurants. “We’re excited to highlight thriving BC distilleries, with a special focus on Vancouver Island distillers. This year’s Grand Tasting has some new additions – a pop-up Cascadia store and carnival games – come and see for yourself!” said Fulya Ozkul, Communications Coordinator for the event. Sunday, Oct. 25 includes a variety of seminars at the Parkside Hotel and Spa. Kicking off the seminars is Meet the Island Makers at 12:30pm. The panel-style seminar will focus on Vancouver Island distillers, including Peter Hunt from Victoria Spirits, Ken Winchester from de Vine Spirits, Jeremy Schacht from Ampersand Distilling Company, Matt Phillips from Phillips Fermentorium Distilling Co. and Jason MacIsaac from Sheringham Distillery. Additional seminar information is available at artofthecocktail.ca. Seminars are 90 minutes in length and tickets are $35. Art of the Cocktail will close with the Best of the Pacific Northwest bartending competition. The long-running competition challenges bartenders to compete with unique cocktail creations representing the Northwest region. To highlight BC’s variety of seasonal flavours, the 2015 theme is mushrooms. Bartenders competing must make an original cocktail with a Victoria Spirits alcohol, and incorporate mushrooms into the palate of the cocktail. Prior to the mix off portion, qualified bartenders must complete a written test as well as a blind taste test. The winner recieves a Victoria Spirits prize basket and $250.

Fall into harvest season

CHANTAL IRELAND @chantalireland

Side Dish Instagram: chantalireland Facebook: SmileAtChantalIreland f you canned, fermented or otherwise preserved the summer bounty, I admire your ambition. Last month, during a visit to my sister-in-law’s in Winnipeg, I watched as she started fermenting tomatoes before breakfast, and had large crocks of soon-to-be sauerkraut and jars of pickles scattered around the kitchen by lunch. She made it look easy, but I’m still buying my pickles. The Great Canadian Beer Festival wrapped up summer with a huge selection of craft beers from 65 Canadian brewers. This is a great annual event. It’s outdoors, there’s food trucks, and the vibe is friendly. I enjoyed the Dageraad Blonde, Hunt & Gather Kettle Sour from Tofino Brewing Co., and a Sour Cherry Saison from Cumberland Brewing. For lunch I tried the Hungry Rooster’s Mexicanka perogies topped with salsa, cilantro and cabbage slaw. Check their website and social media for locations around town.

While I’ll admit to daydreaming about making gingerbread, I’ve managed to hold off in favour of apple galette and roasted root vegetables. The grapes came in early in BC wine country, the pumpkin beers are in full swing, and the brilliant colours of summer tomatoes have faded. Replaced by dark oranges, greens, and the deep red of crisp apples. While your favourite restaurants are changing their menus and introducing new wines, you have your pick of harvest festivals. Welcome to Fall. If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, order a free-range or hormone-free turkey from The Village Butcher, The Root Cellar, Slaters Meats, McLennan’s Island Meat & Seafood, or SPUD.ca. For dessert think chocolate stout cake, pumpkin pie, and apple galette. For party goers, head to Cook St. Liquor, Hillside Liquor Store, or Liquor Plus stores for a great selection of craft beer to bring your host, or Spinnakers Spirit Merchants and

CELEBRATE CIDER Cideries from across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest will gather this harvest season to celebrate the art of craft cider at Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse, 2487 Mt. St. Michael Rd.

The grand opening event for BC Ciderweek is on Oct. 18 from 2-6pm. Cideries in attendance include Rev Nats, Finnriver, and Teiton Ciderworks. Local favourites will be on offer, including Merridale Ciderworks, Tod Creek Craft Cider, Spinnakers,

Cascadia Liquor Stores for a great selection of BC wine. After hosting a fabulous dinner for a crowd, check out some new spots opening later this fall. Pizzeria Prima Strada is opening a third location at 1990 Fort Street, Fol Epi has a new location coming to 732 Yates, with expanded hours and food offerings. If you didn’t get there this summer, the Food Truck Festival behind the Royal BC Museum is staying put through winter. For warm cozy spots to curl up with a scotch or red wine and a date, head to Little Jumbo, Brasserie L’ecole, or Bubby’s Kitchen. Try the burgers at all three of these places. Try it you’ll like it: Semi-Dry cider from new cider maker Salt Spring Wild, $16.10 including tax at Cascadia Liquor Stores. Pumpkin Maple Cookie at Pure Vanilla Bakery and Cascadia Bakery. Hazelnut Salt Spring Gelato, $6.99 at The Market on Yates.

Blue Moon Cider, Dominion Cider, Left Field and Twisted Hills Cider. Tickets are available for $15 and include four cider tastings, entertainment from Jon Middleton of Jon & Roy, and a chance to try dozens of delicious craft ciders! seacider.ca

The

I was driving along Douglas and spotted Northern Quarter. What’s a Northern Quarter? My ear had obviously not been to the ground, so to make amends I thought, better see if they have cocktails. They do! The two owners have pedigree in the city, one coming from the now defunct Superior and the other from the Fort Street Café. It’s a spare space with large paintings and tables that look as if they were sliced from an old growth tree. They have live music regularly and it has a nice vibe for hanging out. The cocktail list is short and filled with house made creations. Catching my eye was the Rhubarb Sour featuring Smoked Rosemary Gin by Legends Distillery in the Okanagan and including rhubarb syrup and grapefruit. It was the most restrained sour I’ve ever tasted as they forgot the grapefruit. Still it was a lovely drink – soft and light and the egg white gave it a beautiful foam top which contrasted with the pale pink of the drink. Next up was a Lavender Lemonade. Again a nice light drink but it could have been a bit more interesting had there been a squeeze of lemon to bring it together. Next time I’m going for the Not So Dirty Martini made with olive oil infused vodka, and sherry. I love the creativity here and though not a perfect experience I will definitely be back. Around town: The Art of the Cocktail is coming up Oct. 24 & 25. The must do is the Grand Tasting where the order of the day is sampling cocktails and food from some of our lovely restaurants including Little Jumbo, Oyster, Fairmont, Earls and Glo. There will be a great focus on local spirits including a Sunday seminar where you can meet the island makers and sample their gins and vodkas side by side. Now, that’s the way to spend a Sunday! Of note is the return of Brendan Brewster. Brendan started out bartending in Victoria and after stints in Vancouver and Edmonton he’s come home to bring a refreshing talent to the bar scene.

One good turn He sits on the ground alone – wearing only pants and a hat. Both are red. His beard and ears are covered with moss. A woman walking by, sees him propped against the doorway and says, “He looks kinda sad – looks kinda dirty.” A man glances over and says, “He’s not hurting anybody; he’s just chillin’ there.” Then a woman approaches the building on her way into work. She says the character on the ground was there when she went home last night. We assume he hasn’t left – he’s been waiting all night. The videographer starts taking pictures from a respectful distance. As he zooms in on blue skin and unblinking eyes, another woman passing by says, “There’s something about their eyes I guess. Eyes are the windows to the soul.” I should probably mention I’m talking about a giant, stuffed Poppa Smurf. It’s been abandoned beside a Money Mart near the intersection where Fort, Pandora and Oak Bay Avenue collide. The videographer and I had been driving around looking for a story for the end of the six o’clock news, when we spotted him. “Poor guy – I feel sorry for him.” Mona is the first person we

meet who seems to be genuinely concerned for the stranded stuffie’s well-being. “Can I take him home?” I ask why? She walks over to the Smurf, crouches down beside it and starts gently brushing away the dirt that’s covering it. “I will wash him. I will care for him. And I will adopt him.” Then she looks into his plastic eyes, smiles and coos, “Hi baby.” I ask Mona what kind of life she would give the Smurf. She says he could join the four other stuffed characters she lives with, including the Bugs Bunny she received for her fifth birthday. And then Mona starts to cry, “I’m so far away from my mom and dad.” She says they are on the other side of the world. While she is earning a Masters of Education in Leadership Studies at UVic, her ADAM SAWATSKY family remains in Pakistan. “I can feel the feeling of this poor guy @CTVNewsAdam when he’s away from home,” Mona admits. “Because I’m away from home.” Mona picks up the Poppa Smurf. She hugs him and smiles. “I will provide him a new home and he will feel good.” As we watch them walk away – his arms wrapped around her – the woman says she Island. On the weekend, he is happy to have a Smurf. And the Smurf – once abandoned, now hosts ‘Eye on the Arts’ on embraced – is no doubt happy to have a Mona. CFAX 1070. The Sun is the farthest away from you as it can get. Since the Sun is your source of energy, you will need more sleep in the next four weeks. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You are coming to the end of your personal year. As such, one of the wisest uses for the month is to give serious thought to what you want your new year to be all about. One thing is certain: Jupiter will guarantee that you will be popular; and you will be involved with classes, groups and associations. Romance with a boss might begin.

Your daily tempo will accelerate with trips, appointments, classes, visits with relatives plus dealing with old friends. You will work hard to earn money because you’re spending it! (Excellent to buy wardrobe goodies.) Allow extra time for delays and snafus in communication, transportation, trains, buses and breakdowns – just crazy stuff.

crisisshow.com

This week the Sun enters your sign to stay for the next four weeks. Happy birthday! This alignment allows you to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year! It will also attract favourable people and circumstances to you. Use it to your advantage. Many of you will run into ex-spouses, ex-partners and old friends. Venus guarantees warm relations with people in groups. A friend could become a lover.

This month is all about duty. You might have to work according to somebody else’s needs – but strive to be as productive as possible. Focus on your health; and improve your health however you can. This is good advice because frankly, your whole year ahead is a party year!

Your focus is on home, family and your private life. You might want to cocoon or go off by yourself and spend time in contemplation, especially with something delicious to eat. Some will use this month to focus on past family events. These feelings might also be triggered because relatives, whom you haven’t seen for a while, are back.
