Ambulance reforms will be ‘good for Mission’

Wait times need to be improved Kevin Kevin Mills Mills Mission Mission Record Record

FAMILY DAY FESTIVITIES Brooklyn Zeck, Jesse Hyners, Rachel Burnier and Rene Burnier test their skills on an extra large Kerplunk game at the games centre in the Mission Leisure Centre on Monday. The centre was packed with people as it hosted many free events in celebration of Family Day, including free skating and swimming, face painting, floor hockey, board games, and more. The provincial government is adding eight ambulances, including two in Abbotsford, and 34 new paramedics into the Lower Mainland. It’s a move that should benefit Mission residents, according to Mayor Randy Hawes He said the new additions – which are part of the major reforms promised by the B.C. government to improve substandard emergency response times – are “good news for Mission.” “Putting more ambulances into the Lower Mainland, including Abbotsford, means the chances of our ambulances getting called out of this area are reduced,” said Hawes. The opposite is also true. “If we need extra ambulances, and they’re in Abbotsford, it doesn’t take them that long to get over here. So that’s a good thing,” added Hawes. Long ambulance wait times are nothing new in Mission. In April of 2015, council met

with representatives from BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) executives and the Ambulance Paramedics of B.C. (APBC) union to discuss ambulatory services and wait times of up to 30 minutes and longer. Hawes said the provincial government has taken a “step in the right direction” to begin addressing these issues. But he said an even larger problem to solve is the amount of time an ambulance is tied up at the hospital. The new action plan unveiled by B.C. Emergency Health Services addressed that issue, stating the top reform priority is to reduce how long paramedics wait in hospital emergency departments to hand over incoming patients so they can get back on the road. Fraser Health hospitals are expected to be at the forefront of making the necessary ER reforms. The plan also calls for big changes to how minor emergency calls are handled – more on-the-spot treatment by paramedics or even medical advice Continued Continued on on A7 A7

Variety helps Mission boy to speak and run Kevin Mills Mission Record

David McMillan is like any other fouryear-old. He likes superheroes, Ninja Turtles and playing with toys. His mom, Carley Wardrope, calls him a “little joker” with a very gentle nature. He’s also a chatterbox, but it wasn’t always that way. David has a form of cerebral palsy. His mom explained that, either just before birth or at birth, he suffered a stroke. It impacted the right side of his body and his speech. “David was in need of some speech therapy as well as some orthotics for his feet because he couldn’t walk properly,” said Wardrope, who has lived in Mission for the past seven years. A support worker suggested she contact Variety – The Children’s Charity for assistance. That’s when David’s world changed. Variety approved the family’s request for speech therapy, and the change in David was almost immediate. “David’s speech went from below six months to almost a two-yearold level. It was really amazing,” said Wardrope. And his speech is continuing to improve. “He’s a little chatterbox now. He likes to tell me that he’s a copy bird.” While he had learned to walk, orthotics were needed to fix some of his physical ailments. “The muscles in his right leg have shrank because he walks on his tippy-toes, which I guess is easiest for him to do, and so they have to form it back. He also walks on the side of it.” A new set of orthotics was recently approved for David, who has outgrown the old ones. He’s getting a brace up to his knee on the right side and on the left it is an orthotics to balance him. It’s an exciting time for David and his mom. “He never even crawled, he actually pulled himself around.

He runs now, all the time.” His hand is improving as well. Wardrope said none of this would have been possible without the help of Variety. As for David, he’s enjoying being a kid, but he likes to help others as well. “He notices everything. He’s always watching around him. If someone is sad or he senses anything off, he goes and comforts them. He’s just a really loving boy.” The 50th annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon takes place this weekend (Feb. 1314). The show will be broadcast across the province on Global TV.

Warm weather is ‘exceptional’

Thinking of buying or selling a home?

But expect it to start cooling down by end of February

Let me help you find your dream home.

Kevin Mills

Working for you!

Mission Record

Warmer than normal temperatures have plants beginning to bud and people venturing outside to enjoy the sun. The weather pattern is uncommon for February in Mission and while it has not been record-breaking, it has come close. On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the thermometer hit 15.3 degrees Celsius, warm enough to head outside without a jacket, but more than a full degree below the record high of 16.7 degrees, which occurred in 1963. “It’s definitely exceptional, for sure,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Matt MacDonald about the warm trend. He said the normal high for this time of year is seven degrees so it’s been more than eight degrees warmer than normal. “We have this huge ridge of

Looking at the makeup of this ridge, it’s a summer-like pattern. This is the kind of intensity of a high-pressure ridge that we see in July.” He said it will likely be warmer in Mission this week than in Florida. “It’s nice to gloat about, but enjoy it while it lasts.”

The Mission RCMP were in the right place at the right time on Thursday (Feb. 4) morning as officers observed staff at the local Save-On-Foods struggling with a lone male. The man was putting up a fight and trying to flee, after attempting to steal meat products. “Meat theft is commonplace for shoplifters as it is often resold on the street for a quick and easy profit,” said Mission

MacDonald said the switch is getting turned off as we get into a showery pattern, but it will still be warmer than normal. Highs of 12 and 13 degrees are expected for the weekend, which is still five degrees higher than normal. But he warns that a cooling pattern is expected for the second half of February.

RCMP S/Sgt. Rob Dixon. The man was linked to a waiting vehicle in the parking lot, where a second man was taken into custody and more meat products stolen from the nearby local Safeway were seized. Both men are residents of Mission. One of them was taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant and the second was released at the scene.

OPINION

Published & printed by Black Press Ltd. at 33047 First Avenue, Mission V2V 1G2

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Web trolls unwelcome Some newspapers in this country have ended the opportunity for readers to provide online comments to their stories. The commenting system at Black Press is set up differently than some others – you must have a Facebook account to express your views publicly. We understand the sentiment expressed by organizations that have suspended commenting on their websites. Some people don’t seem to understand their hurtful, racist or hateful barbs are just as bad – and legally actionable – online as they are in print. For some reason, so-called web trolls think there are different standards about what they can say online as opposed to print or, goodness forbid, face-to-face.

Do you think ambulance response times will improve in Mission?

Using Facebook to allow comments on stories is far from bulletproof. It’s more difficult to hide your identity on Facebook, but still possible. Even if it’s clear who is writing a hurtful comment, it could potentially remain for a time until it is caught and deleted. Most of the time it’s because of foul language or personally focused vitriol, among a variety of reasons. Please, comment on the story or the issue. Don’t insult, denigrate or incite hate. As some media outlets have recently demonstrated, commenting on their websites and/or social media is not a free speech “right” – it is an opportunity that can be withdrawn. - Black Press

by phone is likely rather than the standard practice of an ambulance ride to hospital. “There are still too many patients waiting too long for an ambulance who need one and there are too many patients receiving an ambulance and a transport to an ED (emergency department) that don’t require it,” said BCEHS executive vice-president Linda Lupini. Accompanying the plan is an independent review that found it takes an average of 10 minutes and 24 seconds for ambulances to reach life-threatening calls in the Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria. A new target of under nine minutes for 75 per cent of those critical calls is being adopted, in line with international standards. - With files from Jeff Nagel

The Mission Folk Music Festival Society has announced the appointment of Michelle Demers-Shaevitz as general manager. “Michelle’s energy and experience will be a great help to us,” said Francis Xavier Edwards, artistic director of the festival. “She literally began her career with the festival, volunteering for 25 years in the area of performer services. More recently she has been leading our coordinator team.” After a decade working in Student Services for

University of the Fraser Valley and Simon Fraser University, Demers-Shaevitz spent three years as a program coordinator with Northwest Folklife in Seattle and recently joined their board of directors. She also has organizing experience with Vancouver CelticFest, Vancouver Global Comedy Festival, Festival du Bois and other performing arts events. “I’m excited to continue my work with the festival in this new role,” said DemersShaevitz. “I’m passionate about the music that Francis

The Persian poet and mystic Rumi was intoxicated by love and his poems are so filled with outpourings of love for his fellow man, for creation, and for God that one is almost embarrassed upon reading them. When reading his poetry, one feels almost as if one is reading the intimate diaries of someone who is gushing over his beloved: “When I am with you, we stay up all night. When you’re not here, I can’t go to sleep. Praise God for those two insomnia’s! And the difference between them.” Rumi taps into the almost infinite longing within all of us to be united to our beloved, and ultimately, to be united to the source of our very existence. The mystical epiphany for Rumi was that what we have been seeking has actually been seeking us, and we need not go to the ends of the earth to find it because it’s actually within us: “What you seek is seeking you.” Rumi tells us “The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” We all long to reunite with the primal source of our being. The ancient Greeks explained this by saying that before birth we were joined to a complementary being which was essentially our other half. Nowadays people talk of having a God-shaped hole within us. Rumi said “My soul is from elsewhere, I’m sure of that, and I intend to end up there.” He also said “There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled. There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don’t you?”

Refugees arrive in March INDOOR FARMERS MARKET A BIG HIT

Three refugee families totaling 14 people will arrive in Mission the second week in March. For almost six months a committee of eight Mission churches, faith groups, several non-profit service organizations and community volunteers have been working to welcome these newcomers to Canada. The families fled the Congo and have been living in a refugee camp in neighbouring Burundi for the past six years. The families have now been approved for travel and entry into Canada. Their journey will take them on three flights that will last more than 25 hours, plus time at the airport as well as the drive to Mission. Housing was arranged for them, starting Feb. 1, and furnishings have

been donated, along with clothing and some household goods. The Mission school district has offered two unused classrooms as temporary storage until furnishings can be delivered to the homes. Because the newcomers are being privately sponsored, they will not be met by a government reception centre when they arrive. Settlement assistance is being offered by Mission Community Services and a host of volunteers. The 14 refugees speak Swahili, French and some English and describe themselves as being either Roman Catholic or Protestant. There is still a need to raise funds to cover rent, utilities and other normal living costs for the first year. Anyone who would like to help is asked to call 604-826-2445.

New Patients Welcome!

ONTS presents comedic farce Happy Birthday filled with deceptions and misunderstandings Mission’s Opening Nite Theatre Society is working hard on the second half of ira season. Happy Birthday, a farce by Marc Camoletti, adapted by Beverly Cross and directed by Nate Drury, is hitting the stage March 4-20. A comedy of errors, deceptions and misunderstandings, Happy Birthday takes place in the late 1960s, in a little country cottage where the feckless Bernard has invited his mistress to stay for the night – with his wife still in the house. Bernard is convinced that with the reluctant help of his best friend he can pull the wool over his wife’s eyes, but she’s busy trying to trick him, as she is having an affair with Bernard’s best friend. Throw in a maid who is mistaken for a mistress, and the whole thing is laughs from start to finish. Tickets to Happy Birthday are $15,

and are available at openingnitetheatre.com/boxoffice, ontstickets@hotmail.com, or at the door. Auditions: ONTS is also holding auditions on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. for Mrs. Reynolds and the Ruffian, a drama by Gary Owen, directed by Camille Atebe. Needed are three women, from late teens to early 60s, and two young men, late teens to mid-20s. All actors must be able to do a British accent. Anyone who wishes to audition but cannot make it to the audition times can email Camille at openingnitetheatre@hotmail.com to set up an alternative audition time. Mrs. Reynolds and the Ruffian runs April 29 to May 15, and will be entered into the Theatre BC Fraser Valley Zone Festival.

A pair of Mission athletes have been nominated for the biggest amateur sports honour in the province. Wrestler Alexia Seal is up for the SportBC female high school athlete of the year, and basketball player Kim Gaucher received a nomination for SportBC’s female senior athlete of the year. Seal, a Mission Secondary School student, won gold in the 43 kilogram class at the 2015 BC High School Wrestling Championships in March. At last year’s national championships in Fredericton, N.B., Seal

was the best of her class, securing first place against her fellow Canadian opponents. She also medaled in two tournaments held in Spain and Romania in May, locking up gold and silver, respectively. In July she earned a bronze at the Cadet Pan-American Wrestling Championships in Mexico, and also competed in Sarajevo in August. Gaucher was a key member of the Pan-Am gold medal winning Team Canada women’s basketball team. Gaucher scored eight points and seven rebounds in Canada’s 82-66

gold-medal win over Cuba. She has also earned a silver and bronze with Canada at the FIBA Americas Women’s Championship, and was the first female to have her number retired by the University of Utah. She played three professional seasons with the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs, and also played professionally in Europe. The 50th annual SportBC Awards Ceremony and Gala dinner is set for March 10 at the Vancouver Convention Centre East. For more information on the event, visit sportbc.com.

Just one more win is all the Mission City Outlaws need to guarantee the club’s first ever Harold Brittain conference title. The Outlaws continued their hot play on Saturday, blanking the Delta Ice Hawks 3-0 to improve to 30 wins, 11 losses and two overtime losses on the season. Kolby Steen scored goals in the first and second period, and Baylee Wright added one more in the third to seal the win. Outlaws goalie Jeffrey Veitch made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season, and he also recorded his 12th win. The Outlaws will be scoreboard watching tonight, when the Abbotsford Pilots host the Langley Knights. If Abbotsford loses in regulation, Mission will win the Brittain conference. If Abbotsford wins, the Brittain title will be on the line when the Outlaws host the Pilots on Saturday in the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s season finale

If the Pilots tie or lose in overtime, the only way Mission would not earn the Brittain crown is if they lose to Abbotsford in regulation time on Saturday. In addition to the team honours, one member of the Outlaws will win the PJHL league scoring title. David McGowan and Bryce Pisiak are first and second respectively in league scoring, with McGowan at 83 points and Pisiak at 81 points. The next closest player

has 66 points. Pisiak has won the league’s goal scoring total, potting 46, while McGowan has the league’s assist title with 67 helpers. It was last week when McGowan broke the nearly 30year PJHL record for assists in a single season. Outlaws defenceman Brock Padgham is also likely to be the league’s highest scoring rearguard, with 45 points. He’s three points up on his brother Davin Padgham, who plays for the Aldergrove Kodiaks.

CHAMBER WEEK February 15-19th Empowering B.C. businesses February 15, 2016, marks the beginning of Chamber of Commerce Week, an opportunity for B.C.’s more than 125 Chambers of Commerce to showcase their hard work on behalf of businesses across the province. This year, Chambers are celebrating the theme of “Empowering B.C. businesses” – a theme that highlights how Chambers strive to empower and grow each business in their community. Every day, Chambers actively strengthen local businesses through networking events, mentorship opportunities,

professional development activities and other unique programming. Whether hosting events and business awards, supporting young entrepreneurs through mentorship programs, providing communitytailored support such as hospitality training in tourism communities, or organizing unique travel experiences for companies interested in learning more about different international markets, Chambers are sharply focused on empowering each and every member business to succeed. Simultaneously, the

As members of the BC Chamber of Commerce, B.C.’s Chambers are part of B.C.’s most extensive business policy development process, creating dozens of new policies annually to enhance B.C. as a business jurisdiction. Pictured here: Attendees at the BC Chamber’s 2015 AGM in Prince George, setting the network’s policy agenda.

Chamber network – B.C.’s largest business organization – is advocating for policy changes to further drive local businesses’ success. Right now, for example, B.C.’s Chambers are leading efforts to advocate that the provincial government maintain a low tax rate for credit unions, which provide a key source of local business financing for communities right across B.C. This is significant because for 44 communities in B.C., there are no alternative lenders. Keeping that credit union tax rate low is critical to seeing sufficient dollars flow into community businesses, both to launch start-ups and to enable established businesses to secure growth financing. Chambers are also leading efforts to establish permanent inter-municipal business licenses. These licenses provide business owners with the geographic flexibility that many need, particularly in areas such as the construction trades. Right now, intermunicipal business licenses are moving from a pilot project to a permanent fixture in four Lower Mainland communities, including right here in Mission; the Chamber network hopes to further build on this success, with a vision of one day having a single cross-B.C.

In 2015, the BC Chamber of Commerce once again hosted a luncheon with the B.C. premier and Cabinet, providing an opportunity for local Chamber members to speak directly with government leaders about business issues of interest to their communities.

business license. These are just two positive changes that the Chamber network is leading for B.C. businesses. Among many areas of impact, B.C.’s Chambers have been a leading voice: • encouraging balanced budgets at all levels of government; • calling for a made-in-B.C. value-added tax to support businesses in investing in their own growth; • calling for solutions to B.C.’s skills gap; and • encouraging municipalities to actively support local economic development. All of these policy pushes, together with Chambers’

local efforts, empower B.C.’s businesses and drive British Columbians’ success. So as B.C. celebrates Chamber Week, don’t miss the opportunity to swing by the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce to learn about all the programs, benefits and services we have available to you. Join in on some Chamber Week events like our “Friends with Benefits” event on Feb 19th, and celebrate the many ways that B.C.’s Chambers empower local businesses and strengthen our communities. It is with great anticipation that I look forward to another “growing season” whether it be flowers, crops, businesses or as individuals. There are a great many reasons to celebrate the past year at the Chamber and to project forward in anticipation of an improving economic environment especially here in British Columbia. Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce is a hub that can connect you to resources on the north side of the Fraser River. We want businesses to thrive in Mission. Through connections, support and advocacy, we work to grow businesses in the region. Please plan to attend our Networking Event “Friends With Benefits” on Friday February 19th from 4 – 7pm at the Chamber office to learn more about the benefits that our local chamber offers plus what the BC Chamber offers. Do you know that 70 percent of our member businesses have 5 employees or less? Membership numbers in the Chamber are stable and while some business has moved on, an equal number are coming in. The value the Chamber adds to and for business is growing along with the membership. Another way to take advantage of your Chamber network is to attend the 9th Annual Fraser Valley Chambers of Commerce Business showcase whether as an exhibitor or an attendee. It is happening Wednesday, April 27th from 3 – 7 pm. We have a strong foundation at the Chamber which is complemented by a Board with a passion for Mission and its business community. We are moving into the election of board members in March. I would encourage and welcome any member to join with the Board as it continues to develop programs for the benefit of all businesses in Mission. Contact the Chamber office to learn more about how you can serve the business community in Mission while guiding your local Chamber of Commerce.

Spotlight on Business: Sweet Spot Café: The Power of Small Kathleen Rake

Sweet Spot Café is small, but packed with good food and exceptional service—the sort that earned them the Power of Small Award for Business Excellence from the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce. “When you are small like us, you get to know your customers by name,” said Deborah Bleasdale, Sweet Spot Café owner. “And since I make practically everything fresh daily, by hand and in small batches from scratch, keeping small works well for us and our customers.” Bleasdale has managed to combine her two passions at her business: Cooking and gardening. She received formal training at the Pierre Dubrulle Culinary School

in Vancouver and maintains a full garden at the back of the premises, where you’ll find one of Mission’s best-kept secrets—a delightful patio. “The patio, with its lush green surroundings, koi pond and waterfall increases our capacity by another 25 seats and is a beautiful respite for our busy customers,” said Bleasdale. She uses the produce from the garden in her menu items. “And you can’t get fresher or more local than that.” The menu at Sweet Spot Café offers vegetarian and gluten-free choices. As well, because Bleasdale takes pride in what she serves, she’s chosen Caffe Umbria for her coffee and Karla's Specialteas as her tea supplier. A Mission resident for 20 years,

Bleasdale opened Sweet Spot Café in March, 2011 and currently employs one full-time and two part-time staffers. “I can often get our regular customers’ orders ready for them as I see them approaching. They like that,” said Sarah Drozdzik, who works at Sweet Spot. “And because we understand what it means to be small, we can support our neighbours—other small businesses,” she added. Sweet Spot Café is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee Monday through Saturday at 33057 1st Ave., Mission. Inclusive Hiring is Good for Business Rotary at Work BC is modelled after a very successful Rotary Club initiative that began in Ontario about seven years ago. In simple terms, the project is an education and awareness initiative that informs Rotarians, and other business people about the strong business case, and overall VALUE to any business that is realized from hiring individuals with disabilities. Since its inception in southern Ontario, the project has spread throughout the province to hundreds of Rotary clubs, and thousands of key business people and community leaders. A few of the positive outcomes from the Ontario project include: economic benefits, shifting attitudes about this population, and the employment of many individuals with disabilities. "It's not charity, but good business sense. Hiring people with disabilities connects employers with employees who WANT to work. To be able to earn a living is a basic need and Rotary at Work BC helps." Bill Robson, District Governor for Rotary District 5050 Significant research into companies of all sizes across North America has shown that by tapping into this rich pool of talent, many businesses have realized increased productivity, improved staff morale, lower absenteeism and staff turnover - all supporting greater economic value and a stronger bottom line. Not only does the initiative provide “new” research and information, but also strives to dispel myths that employers have about this labor pool. Below are a couple of the most common misconceptions. MYTH - "Individuals with disabilities should be placed in less risky jobs.” In fact, an extensive survey done by the Dupont Corporation revealed that: 67% of workers were part of lower medical costs 63% lower time away from work 78% lower overall costs associated with workplace accidents 97% of workers who have a disability rate average or above average in safety on the job

MYTH - “These individuals do not perform as well and require extra supervision.” The Dupont study and a Harris study found that: 88% of individuals with disabilities rated Good or Excellent in performance. (DuPont) 46% actually work harder than others. (Harris Study) 86% have average or above average attendance records. (DuPont) 5x’s more likely to stay on the job resulting in lower turnover costs (Pizza Hut Study) Community presentations led by the Project Coordinator, and Rotarian Dave Stark to business groups introduce the well-supported Business Case, framed by stories from local employers, and employees that will challenge your view of this large, and skilled talent pool. It is hoped that business owners, and others will look at hiring from this segment of our population as an opportunity, and that hiring people with disabilities is, “Good for Business."

After a long, courageous battle with cancers, and spending precious time with family at his side, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Les Goertz, passed away peacefully at home February 2, 2016, aged 76. Born March 5, 1939 in Waldheim, SK, Les relocated as a young boy to the Fraser Valley with his family. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Vernagean Nelson in Vancouver, BC. They raised three children while living in various cities in BC and Washington State. An ordained minister, Les pastored for over 40 years at churches in Canada and the USA, counselled and mentored many individuals, conducted seminars in North America and overseas, established hospice programs at hospitals, and advised businesspeople and elected officials. He graduated from Bethany Bible College and earned a master’s degree in ministry from Trinity Western University. Les founded Church Evangelism Ministries and later authored and published ‘Not-Yet-Christian’, a book about the stages people go through in their journey of faith. He had a great passion for people - he enjoyed spending time talking over a cup of hot chocolate or while ‘fitting puzzle’ or rooting for the Canucks. Les was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved to cheer them on at their events, rain or shine. Predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Katherine (Berg) Goertz, and his brothers-in-law, Dave Bergstrom and Doug Nelson, Les is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Vernagean (Nelson) Goertz, daughter Christine (Tom) Nichols, son Mike (Kristen) Goertz, daughter Camille (Phil) Goddard, grandchildren Jacob, Olivia, Grace, Kristen, Heidi, Jillian, and great-granddaughter Airlyn. Also survived by sister Elma Bergstrom, brothers Cliff (Norma) Goertz and Ray (Denise) Goertz, sisters-in-law Cheryl Nelson, Cathy (Dennis) Stromme, Dianne (Rod) Neufeld, Janet Sabados, and brothers-in-law Curt (Patrice) Nelson and Brad (Julie) Nelson, aunts Annie Goertz, Alma Goertz and Leona Goertz, uncles Ed Goertz and Herman Berg, numerous nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and a far reaching network of people who came into contact with Les over the years and who loved him - he loved them back dearly. Many thanks to the doctors and healthcare professionals who supported Les over the years, especially this past month. We take comfort in knowing that his journey in eternity continues and that he is rejoicing with those who have gone on before. Please join us in celebrating his life. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 13, 1:00 pm, at Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly (south bldg.), 3145 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, BC, followed by a reception at Cedar Brook Baptist Church (north bldg. at same address). A Visitation was held on Thursday, February 11, at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.woodlawnfh-abbotsford.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church Evangelism Ministries (CEM) or a charity of your choice.
