Welcome

to Kimberley, B.C. We hope you stay a while. Kimberley is one of the fastest growing communities in British Columbia, with a population of just over 7400 people. People are drawn to Kimberley for so many reasons; it’s beautiful, friendly, offers a myriad of recreation and lifestyle activities; miles of hiking and biking trails; great schools and recreation facilities. Kimberley is progressive. It’s home to one of the largest solar facilities in western Canada — the Kimberley SunMine. Kimberley is a ski town that really is a ski town. The Kimberley Alpine Resort is right in town, not several kilometres away. You can be at the lift from anywhere in Kimberley in less than five minutes. Kimberley has three world class golf courses; a summer full of festivals, an outdoor farmers market, a mining railway, a kids spray park, a beautiful public garden, library, museum and an 800 hectare Nature Park. And it’s surrounded by some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. You can camp, fish, hunt and hike to your heart’s content in the beautiful Purcell and Rocky Mountains. The summers are warm and sunny, the winters are mild and snowy. Getting here is easy. The area is serviced by the Canadian Rockies International Airport with daily flights from Calgary and Vancouver as well as charters. We are only a four hour drive from Calgary and within an hour and a half of the Canada U.S. border. Come visit Kimberley, and stay a while.

The Platzl The heart of Kimberley’s downtown is the the Platzl, a flowerfilled pedestrian-only block and a half full of unique shops and restaurants. There’s a whole new feel to the Platzl in recent years as new businesses have opened. Keep an eye out for live music in the gazebo, play a game of life-size chess or ping pong, or sit on an outdoor patio and enjoy. And don’t forget to check out the big cuckoo clock. You might see Happy Hans! Kimberley’s downtown is all walkable with river crossings accessed over new timber-framed bridges. The path of Mark Creek through the downtown area has been completely rehabbed over the past few years, and now offers great places to picnic or swim on a hot summer day. Or throw in a line and see if you can catch a trout. You can walk to other attractions from the Platzl, like Cominco Gardens just up a trail, or the downtown station of the Underground Mining Railway is just down the road.
