“Listen to me, Morty. I know that new situations can be intimidating. You lookin’ around and it’s all scary and different, but y’know … meeting them head-on, charging into ‘em like a bull — that’s how we grow as people.” -Rick Sanchez
d*school crash course When engaging with a real person in this exercise I was able to get an idea of what another individual thinks of the subject and in that influenced the outcome of what I was doing. When showing unfinished work to another individual it felt as though a pressure was put on me that I am not used to, I am used to showing the final rather than the mid project to someone. The pace was very speedy and not conducive to what I am used to, I am used to being able to take my time in order to have a fully functional outcome of what I am trying to create. I would go back and work on the basics of what have done, make sure there is no room for something to go wrong in what I have
dot/line
In my own words, I would describe Gestalt as taking several different pieces and combining them to make a wholly new piece that was never meant to come together. It is quite difficult to make a well crafted object, especially if it means something to you. I would rather spend more time on something and have near perfect piece than garbage. This project lead me more into the idea of abstract art than I had previously been, it really made me think on what I was actually putting into my art. I didn’t think so, because I usually don’t when I make my own art to begin with, I like making the viewer have to find what the piece means. I might use the ideas of abstraction to further what I work on to begin with, since I feel as making the artist think is more fun.
hand lettering
Hand lettering is something that I find great interest and I found that this project was a great way to express that in a class setting, it taugt me to never limit yourself in what you can do. I would like to refine my technique with graffiti lettering/stenciling. I would like to practice calligraphy when I get the chance. I would say that the form of my words is most likely the strongest out of the two.
object
Working trough this process with my penguin iterations I was able to learn the many ways that penguins can be shown, either through minimalism or through the process of taking objects that have nothing to do with a penguin and creating one from those pieces. Probably the most challenging medium for me would be the collage, having to find things that represented a penguin or its shape. The most enjoyable one I found to be was the Banksy one, I love created stencils. I learned about layering as well as darkening an image, and I think I will go forward to use photoshop to create and doctor my photography skills. If I had to continue using the penguin for inspiration I would most likely delves into its surroundings as well as other actions the penguin might do in its daily life.
designer
The reason I was drawn to my designer was for his creation of different iconic logos. I would have felt fine presenting to classmates any other day but I have an ear infection as of now and could barely speak while giving as well as the constant headache I have from the infection. I would probably go more into Shepard Fairey’s work just because I admire the fact that he works with a stylistic version of graffiti, or at least with the approach as how he came to be noticed in the art world.
data
I created visual hierarchy using size and color. The colors that popped the most were the most important and the one with biggest size being that of the word bubble is the one with the most pertinent information. I learned how one reads a poster and how to make something visually pleasing to the eye. It was fun to actually bring color into one the project that we were able to present, while at the same time it also offers a side of chaos as it tends to add more options.

Q. If you were guaranteed it would support you financially, what would you want to design or make for a living? A. If I were to make this into a living I would definitely consider making logos for a living. From company logos to designing any type of logo. Q. What is the difference between a good life and a significant life?
A. I think a good life is something you are happy with in the end, you feel that you have given it your best and this is what came out of it. A significant life is one that includes a good life while being recognized by others at the same time, something of an example for those to follow.
