1. ISSUE ONE
Q: Tell us a little about yourself? JD: My name is Jay Donn, I’m a 25 year old male from the city of London. I am in to photography, design, music and video, enjoy meeting new people, am easy going and love to stay as creative as possible. Q: What kind of photography do you do?
Q: Finally, what is your personal take on fashion photography and what do you plan for the future? JD: For me, it has been a great experience so far, and I am one who fully understands that fashion photography is not and never will be a one man show. There are many elements that come together to create the end result. I look forward to taking them on.
JD: I have been doing photography for a few years now. I like photographing urban, portrait, objects, scenery, fashion, street, landscapes etc. Although this portfolio focuses on fashion and editorial, I am not a one dimensional photographer as I don’t just shoot models and have a wide range of subject areas to my work so far. Q: What is your preferred way of working? JD: When it comes to shooting models I have shot in studios but prefer outdoor locations with natural light as I like to mix the outdoor vibe and energy from the location with the model, capturing moments, telling stories and creating a good juxtaposition. I like to keep my shots as natural as possible, so I’m not a big fan of heavy brushing, to much of it takes away from the image I believe, and there isn’t anything a good MUA can’t do, it’s just the way I like working. I retouch all my images and feel that my initial direction when I started photography and all RI P\ LQÀXHQFHV WR GDWH LV ZKDW IRUPV WKH style in my work. 4 :KDW ZDV WKH LQLWLDO LQÀXHQFH LQ \RXU earlier work? JD: My earlier work was a lot of street photography, urban and documentary. I have now taken the direction into fashion editorial, but I know those foundations are solid in my work today, which is the reason I feel my work is approached from an interesting angle, slightly raw, edgy and always consistent. Q: How was it shooting at LFW’s catwalk show? JD: It was fantastic, loved being there and would love to do more of these. I enjoyed myself and got some really cool shot’s.

LADY BRIGHTS
2011 is the year of the Royal Wedding, Helena %RQKDP &DUWHU ¿QDOO\ getting the recognition she deserves in the style press and a trend for colour you just can’t ignore. For this trend section we have married these all together, to give you an eccentric English Lady’s take on the incredibly prevalent bright colour blocking trend seen on the catwalks back in September, whilst regaining some regal dignity to the whole affair.

Christopher Kane encapsulated this entire trend with his SS11 collection described as ‘Princess Margaret on Acid’, showing a collection of neon printed lace twinsets, pencil skirts of modest knee length and clashing Argyle tank tops. Jil Sander showed some striking acid colour pieces including a stand out orange peplum maxi skirt, and Haider Ackermanns stunning aquamarine blues and greens were simply devine. Erdems red lace ‘Margot’ dress is the seasons big hitter and when worn straight off the runway by Michelle Williams to the premiere of ‘Bloue Valentine’ in October, it prompted lightning fast sales despite the £2,000 price tag. 28
MARK FAST

Pieces from this collection have been seen on Kylie, Rhianna, Leighton Meester and Eliza Doolittle.
