Aquaint, boutique bakery is working to make a big impact in Historic Downtown Sanford. Their focus is on giving everyone who enters their bakery the #OvenToTableFresh #Homemade experience that your grandmother gave you. After 16 months of being open, that’s exactly what Simply Homemade 1913 (SH1913) is doing, one tastebud at a time.

After a 22-year career in law, Victoria was ready to return to her South Carolina roots. “My grandmother, Julia Robinson, taught me everything I know about baking. Her passion was feeding everyone in the small town of Bishopville,” Victoria said. “Food is what brings our culture together.” When the world was faced with the onset of a global pandemic, it was the best opportunity for Victoria to bring an end to a career in law and do her part to bring people together through food— #MadeFromScratch, old-fashioned bundt cakes, custom cakes, cobblers, and pies are what she offers to Sanford residents. During our time of fear and uncertainty, one thing held true: we needed something to celebrate! What better way to celebrate than with cake!

Homemade... it’s Simply Better!

Simply Homemade provides a daily offering of over 25 flavors for any cake of your choice. Her cakes made it possible for Victoria to do the one thing that has always brought her joy: GIVE! After being open for only eight months, Simply Homemade 1913 was able to bestow its first scholarship. They provided a $500-per-semester scholarship to a deserving Airman to help her pursue her college degree. In addition to a scholarship, SH1913 has created “Cake It Forward.” Cake It Forward allows this small business owner to give away free cookies or bundt cakes to anyone who may be experiencing financial difficulty. “We are able to give, because of YOU! Your tips are retained in the bakery and those tips are used to give free items to anyone in need,” Victoria said. As one of seven children, she knows what it means to struggle.
