15th Annual Black Glasses Film Festival Identity and Event Design
Created in 1999, the Black Glasses Film Festival is a competition as well as an exhibition of student films varying in genre and duration. The inspiration of this work is derived from various propaganda posters of WW2 and their simple, yet persuasive typographic messages. Leading lines of directional hierarchy were utilized throughout the gridded placement of type and image. Appropriated typefaces were also chosen to heighten the “George Orwellian message of surveillance and manipulation prominent in film and media.

BFA Senior Exhibition Event Poster Design
The concept of this work is “The Creation of Adam“ by Michelangelo is adjusted it to include a graphic design element. Playing off the elements of Painting and Graphic design, this poster was created in homage to the unconventional exhibition of one painting student and several graphic design students. Created for the Baylor BFA Senior Exhibition, the components within the concept also are inspired by the basic elements of each craft. Color is utilized to delineate the difference between the two crafts and also to unify them.
Dual Invitations Event Design and Letterpress These 2-color dual invitations are made from 3 polymer plates on a Vandercook press. Hand-mixed ink is used to replicate the colors utilized in my identity and a blend of typefaces fronts the design. Folded, the invitations are 6” x 4” and when opened, they measure 4” x 12”.

Type Specimen Book Identity, Type, and Book Design This book is a personal project created in response to a series of identical type specimen posters created for the Baylor University graphic design department. Thematically, the “faces” are created by employing the variations among typefaces seen in curly brackets. These curly brackets, along with social conceptions and associations, are the defining elements that give the mustache emoticons their individual personalities. A monochrome color palette of shades of pink also ties into the similarities seen within the type and the emojis and the stark differences between the two. A duality of similarity and variation is the basic concept for this work. The book measures 5.5” x 8.5”and is 32 pages long.
Issue Box Package Design Inspired by Japanese emoticons, this dual purpose tissue box was designed for an audience that frequently uses and needs desk space. The front is dryerase and slanted backward for ease of use. Aimed to eliminate the need for sticky-notes, these “issue boxes” are only 4.25” x 3” on the bottom, 3” x 3” on the top, and 3.25” high.
Various Posters Letterpress
These posters were created from puns ranging from typographic humor to word play on my name. Each poster was made on a Vandercook Press using mainly wood type with hand rolled ink. Each poster is 12” x 18”.
