Why India Ink?

India ink was first invented in China as early as 2500 BC, during Neolithic China. However the term India ink was coined by the English due to the later trade with India.

India ink brings depth and durability to artwork. It can be combined with many other drawing mediums including being painted over transparent colors without smudging because India ink is waterproof when dry. Other characteristics include highlight resistance, odor-free, acid-free and pH neutral.
