Electric Trim Tabs Trim tabs make the single most important difference to the way a boat will ride and perform. Minn Kota trim tabs will enhance the boat’s performance by providing quicker hole-shots that will get it on the plane faster. They also allow the boat to stay on the plane at lower throttle settings for improved independent control. Each tab operates independently to compensate for list conditions created by an unbalanced load or prop torque. Minn Kota trim tabs are designed to keep an even keel. Every boat has both a pitch axis which spans the width of the boat and a roll axis which runs from bow to transom. Minn Kota trim tabs keep your boat aligned on both axis to prevent plowing and dipping, saving you fuel and creating a smoother ride.
Composite Tabs Minn Kota composite tabs are injection moulded for superior durability and corrosion resistance. Proprietary contoured shape includes flared edges that channel water down the length of the tab delivering exceptional lift. 311004 Tab 9 x 12
Actuators A custom 12V DC motor powers our intelligently designed actuators, which control tab position with quiet, dependable smooth operation. They feature the industry’s highest IP68 waterproof rating and are sealed with a dual O-ring design with a special wiper that removes debris as the ram is retracted. Each ram has an electronic stroke limiter to automatically stop the actuators in the fully extended or fully retracted position.

Minn Kota’s Actuators are available in two sizes. Standard, designed to provide a maximum extended length of 380mm, and short, designed to provide a maximum extended length of 280mm.
Switches and Control Module
311024 Actuator
Two potted, waterproof electronic switch options are available. The standard rocker switch will raise and lower the tabs as required or use the LED indicator switch which shows exactly how much each tab is lowered by a row of yellow indicator lights which light up in 2° increments from 0° to 20°. These LED indicator switches also have the option to automatically fully retract or fully deploy the rams as required by the single press of a button. Each switch is supplied with 7.6 meters of network cable and fasteners. The indicator switch can also be wired into the boat’s ignition, allowing operation only when the boat’s ignition is on. Also available is an Auxiliary Switch to control tabs from a flybridge. For total system integrity the Minn Kota control module electronics are completely sealed internally and are designed for wet environments so can be mounted as close as possible to the transom of the vessel.

Actuator Selection The most limiting factor in selecting the appropriate actuator size is the amount of vertical working height available on the transom. To ensure you order the correct system measure the amount of vertical working space available on the transom of the boat. Minn Kota offers 2 different lengths of actuators that will accommodate almost any hull configuration. They are commonly referred to as "standard stroke actuator" and "short stroke actuator". The amount of transom space required will also depend on the "chord" dimension of the Trim Tab being used. The "chord" dimension is the distance from the leading edge of the Trim Tab to the trailing edge. Use the table below to see if the actuator size and tab chord length combination you have is appropriate for your transom.

Trim tab selection may vary due to the boat’s weight, length, speed, load and engine power. The accompanying table should be read as a guide only when selecting which size trim tab and actuator suits the vessel size. It is also important to ensure that where the trim tabs are to be installed that the transom is flat and there is enough room to fit the actuator to the transom to operate the tabs correctly. Minn Kota Trim Tabs are most effective when mounted as far outboard as possible.

Quick Bow and Stern Thrusters

Quick bow and stern thrusters are available in 12 or 24 volt from 40Kgf to 140Kgf and with tunnel sizes ranging from 140 mm to 250 mm to suit most vessels up to 18 metres. The bow thruster should be mounted as far forward as is practically possible and to avoid cavitation the tunnel should be installed as low as possible with a minimum distance of at least 0.75 times the tunnel diameter from the waterline to the top of the tunnel. To limit losing thrust the optimal tunnel length is around 3 to 4 times the diameter of the tunnel but up to 6 times can be tolerated.
