I think he lives in Endicott, although evidence suggests he takes the #35 bus up Main Street through Johnson City and Binghamton, too. Most of his messages, though, I’ve found around town, usually near schools and churches, sometimes in the area around the grocery store or some of the industrial buildings next to the business district.
Dawn’s actually met him, when he came in to buy supplies at her store. She noticed an envelope with his scrawl on it sticking out of his pocket, and he admitted who he was when she asked.
He wouldn’t let her take his
picture, though, and she said he seemed kind of embarrassed at being found out.
He seems to be busiest in summer. Occasionally, he gets stuck in a rut and just keeps posting the same message over and over. As you can see, I don’t always find the signs before the elements have been at them for a while.
This is just the first collection.
