EDUCATION 2018/2020 Bachelor in Architettura SUPSI 2015/2018 Bachelor in Architettura d’interni SUPSI 2009/2014 Liceo Artistico Edgardo Manucci, Jesi ( AN)
COMPETIONS I am Bleranda Hodolli, born in Prishtine on 27.05.1994. At the age of five I discovered a love of architecture in unusual circumstances, but they inspired me with the desire for a constant search for architectural spaces with a good level of human interaction, a careful choice of materials and a precise study of light. I attended art school in the Marche region, in the province of Ancona ( Italy ) where I got to know painting, through which I expressed myself several times, in particular with the oil and acrylic technique. In the following years I attended at SUPSI the interior architecture course and after graduating I continued my studies in architecture. This step was very important to develop a greater architectural sensibility and to create a good basis for the continuation of this long path. Reading, travelling and then touching what has already been done are just a few of the many possible ways to get to know and assimilate. To look is not to observe, so it is important to pay attention to everything around us, to observe and then draw your own conclusions. I consider myself a very curious person, with a good learning speed, and my passion for what I do has allowed me to conclude each step with great satisfaction.

X-TECA
The idea of a classical library and a space for the collection of materials is replaced by the idea of a space now called X-TECA that not only meets the needs of containing paper materials (books) and materials (samples) but will become a meeting point for users. The name, which is fundamental to be able to easily identify the space, becomes the tag, the label, the marker iden- tificator. The X is intended as an unknown, which does not give detailed information about the space but lets you imagine what it contains. The X-TECA is located on the first floor of the building and has an area of 457m2 with a height of 3m. The modular structure of the building generates a symmetrical rhythm defined by light. The spatial and conceptual transparency (inside and outside) and the large internal banded windows allow interpersonal relationships and sharing of knowledge. The arrangement system is generated by a grid that dominates the entire room, which determines the sub-constant rhythm and contains all the elements including the lighting system. From this grid descend the uprights supporting the elements that will contain the 650 linear metres of books and the 150 linear metres of samples. The spaces are presented in this way: on the left is the materiothe- cary and on the right the library. The fulcrum of this space is the reception desk, which is circular in shape, an information and meeting point, reception and orientation of users, card issuing, display of news and current documents on shelves. The continuity between outdoor and indoor space will be emphasized, so that the public is invited to enter, the showcase here will play a fundamental role. On the perimeter are the seats facing the window that gives onto the outside (with a view of the park) so that users can enjoy both natural and artificial lighting.
1
In the case of the materiotheque, it is necessary to have a space with adequate light in order to enjoy all the characteristics that make up a particular material. The light, contained by the grid, in this case is a basic quisite to determine the behaviour of the user and therefore organises the spaces and defines the hierarchies. In the case of workstations it is possible to manage the amount of light at will. X-TECA (material lending section) The elements that will contain the samples are polypropylene boxes (inserted in a grid of 80x90cm ) a plastic material that filters the light and allows the visitor to have a real vision of the colours without the fluence of the red concrete. Its translucency allows a glimpse of the colours of each element inserted. The samples can be taken from their box to be analysed on the central counter, which also acts as a drawer unit, and photographed inside the LIGHT BOX. If necessary, by means of a table screen with the QR code, you can receive more information about the origin, the production company and any information about the chosen material. X-TECA(library section) The ultralight MDF bookshelves will contain 650 mL of paper material, divided into sections by course. In the centre of this large living room, they are arranged seductively for pleasant reading alone or in company. The characteristic elements of this space are the circles that act as seats, breaking this omplanar pattern, contained by the grid and arranged at different times inside the room. The greenery, complementary to this “pink” concrete, reaches a height of 1.10m. The element was created as a study and reading table positioned towards the window overlooking the park and depending on where we are, it has two other functions: to contain books, and to display them towards the window overlooking the internal corridor. The insertion of the elements inside the grid also makes it possible to extract them easily and use them as displays, inside the “Superorganism”.

PALAZZINA IN VIA BESSO

GEOMETRIA
The project of the building is located in Via Besso, in Lugano, near the SBB station. It is from here that it was decided to design a building to accommodate young students or commuters who have to travel constantly for work or studies. The project presents some simple structural choices, four load-bearing blades start from the ground floor and end on the top floor, so the flats look like telescopes between the front and back of the building. The element that holds the different levels together is the staircase, made of concrete and externally covered by a metal skin. The interior spaces revolve around a “spiral” piece of furniture that allows the development of the space by dividing it naturally between the living and sleeping areas with a rest area and a common terrace that also serves as a distribution of the appartments. The appartments are rearranged one behind the other to allow a single and private access to the flat, without the need to interact with the loggias of each appartment. The choice of materials allows to subdivide also on a sensorial level what is the space used for the daily meeting moments and the space used for the night rest but without a clear distinction, but with an “ assisted” continuity.

COOPERATIVA d’ABITAZIONE “Mehr Als Wohnen” GEOMETRIA
The housing cooperative project is located in Via Lambertenghi in Lugano. The project is part of a context mainly composed of multi-family residential buildings and public spaces such as restaurants, public parks and public schools. In contrast to the rigidity of the buildings, the housing cooperative decides to go out of the box with a dynamic form. It settles irregularly like nature settles in an uninhabited place, it connects, transforms and lives. It is the cohabitation of several elements, as in a community. The building is divided into 4 slabs with a connecting one which acts as a public space and has a central hole which connects all the levels. On the ground floor concrete blades split the spaces and through perspectives generated by the architectural choices connect the external space behind the building and the main street. The flats on the first to sixth levels face south and north and have continuous glazed façades that provide natural light throughout the day. Perforated wooden blinds allow light to filter through, so as to guarantee an excellent atmosphere even during the evening hours. In contrast to the glass curtain walls, concrete slabs close towards the public space and through a short stretch of glass cement a bond is established between those who enjoy the common space and those who are inside the private spaces. The exception to the rule is generated by the presence of a round pillar which forms part of the structural and load-bearing part of the building. On the seventh level two terraces face north and south.

CAMINO SPINIROLO INSIDEOUT
The project of Camino spinirolo consists in the restoration of an abandoned building, which at the time housed the production and manufacture of stone and has now become a social centre. The building has a mixed structure in stone and concrete. The intervention consists in inserting the new into the old, keeping the pre-existence alive and enhancing it through ideal material choices. Wood is considered a “light” material if compared to concrete and in this case it is used to insert itself and give an extra “lightness” underlining the insertion and support. A clear raster is arranged along the spaces and is also repeated upstairs. The wooden beams in larch wood define the spaces inside. In contrast to wood, the plasterboard and glass plays with full and empty space in correspondence of windows or spaces that require more privacy. On the ground floor the spaces we encounter are public, such as libraries, reception, technical rooms, restaurants and bars. On the first floor, on the other hand, the bedrooms and their respective public spaces alternate with the presence of terraces overlooking the surrounding landscape of Mendrisio.

CALAMITY ATELIER CONTEST LA PROMENADE
A natural catastrophe led to the destruction of most of the works of art on the site, including works by the architect Kengo Kuma. The competition included the extension of the existing structures through an auditorium with catering, a museum of the destroyed works during the catastrophe and houses for artists. The artist´s home is at the heart of the development of the entire competition project, a permeable building on two separate levels designed to blend in with the context and at the same time guarantee the visitor a continuous relationship with the beauty of the surrounding area, and the development of the design continued in the auditorium. A permeable building capable of hosting multiple functions such as bar and restaurant, conference room, services and study rooms.

GHOST TOWN REFUGEE CONTEST GLIMPSES
The development of the project stems from the desire to create buildings that dialogue harmoniously with each other and with the precious historical context of the city of Craco without, of course, changing the existing situation. Each building has been conceived as the development of a continuation of the existing buildings by inserting a new metal structure, introducing the visitor to a sensitive experience composed of plays of light and materials The shelters, the smaller buildings, fit into the abandoned dwellings stretching towards the sky. Corten is a metallic material that visually recalls reuse. Each building has a 360-degree view of its surroundings. They are born as prefabricated buildings, adaptable or permanent over the years.

WOFORO DUA PA-A
“Woforo dua pa a, na yepia wo” - “When you climb a good tree, you are given a push” The latter is a traditional African sentence that stands for solidarity and mutual help which are the principles and foundations of our emergency operational center. In mythology, religion and common knowledge, a tree is recognized as a symbol for life. An emergency center might be needed in war zones or health crisis where death prevails and it’s an unfortunate everyday sight. We decided to make an effort and switch the main focus to life by placing the image of a tree immersed into water as the heart of the project, a much needed safe place where people can try to get away from reality, even if it’s just for a second. From the main “trunk” the tree expands with a series of branches which make up the operational and functional spaces of the project and can ideally grow indefinitely. The branches are made out of the composition and repetition of one single easily buildable unit. Different layouts can create different atmospheres, perceptions and ways of inhabiting space. Overall this creates very versatile spaces that can adjust to every situation. The current layout should be considered as a starting point for a bigger or smaller tree. The use of one small intuitive module made out of local, cheap and easily available and workable materials makes it a perfect choice for a crisis environment. Its shape can also provide both protection, by closing off external dangers, and hospitality, by opening up and allowing people inside to favour social interaction. It’s easy to imagine it becoming a school, hospital or a learning and creative space that can soon be seen as the heart of a new village in continuous expansion. The project dives into different kinds of sustainability, the main ones being social and environmental. The roofs of the modules that make up
the branches are oriented to channel water into underground tanks. The collected water can then be filtered and used inside the facility when needed. In Africa being able to save and not waste even a drop of it is extremely important since it might as well be considered liquid gold. The water collected into the central space is set to face another one of the huge struggles in the sub-Saharan geographic area, which is heat. In this situation, water isn’t placed underground but it’s evenly spread onto a thin layer above it. The water can then evaporate under the effect of the rays of the sun and freshen up the environment surrounding it. The temperature is also kept under control by the use of cross ventilation. The walls of the modules used in the branches have been accurately drilled and together with the huge openings provided by the roof structure they allow both wind and light to get in leaving the heat out. The heat that is already inside can be expelled from the vent created on the ridge of the roof by the staggered slopes. The central area carries the heat out through the openings placed at the juncture of the main roof and the one of the branches.

STANZE
During the development of the project the masterplan acquired importance as relevant to the structural choices related to the building. The masterplan required the building to be supported on two walls at the ends of the building with a span of 100m. So the structure that came closest to it was the bridge structure. On the ground floor, the concrete block containing the public spaces and technical rooms was used to support the swimming pool on the upper floor, acting as an intermediate support to reduce the span. Afterwards the choice of inserting a pylon came from the reference of engineer Jon Andrea Konz, who built a walkway in Poschiavo, in the Grisons with the same structural system. The pylon has a height of 7 metres and inside it contains 2 floors composed with rooms, public spaces, library and reception area for guests. The truss is composed of wooden elements (larch) in diagonal and vertical elements of dimensions 300mmx300mm with the upper and lower current of 800mm. The building has two elements of passage such as ramp and stairs, placed outside the building, of metal structure, hanging from the roof in a lamellar panel that has a thickness of 150mm. The staircase and the ramp are the only two elements that allow to connect the floors and act as escape routes, as the stairs inside the building allow to connect only the first and second floor, without having any contact with the outside.
