Minimalistic Logos - Optics

LOGOS

Logos are very important to every brand that uses recognition to further its reach of a product or general use. Logos also have a long and varying past concerning design and how it has an effect on consumers. There are a lot of ways logos have and can be designed but the popular look in the present is simplistic but unique. A while ago logos used to act as secondary advertisements, but now logos are their own symbol meant to be synonymous with the name of the company and what it is supposed to offer.

IN WITH THE NEW

Logos have seen a big shift over the past couple of centuries when it comes to a design standpoint. (I’m not a historian so please bear with me.) A while back when fewer and fewer companies and brands were known worldwide, there was a need to let people know what your brand might offer. As the rise of consumerism and bigger brands began, more and more companies turned from using complex designs and crests to simple, more iconic, and recognizable symbols to represent the company or product.

CAT AND MOUSE

Its obvious that companies have been hurrying after consumers to get them to buy into their product or service. While it is obvious with their products, it might not be so much so with their logos and branding. As companies grow, they need a way to allow people to know who is providing said service/product without forcibly telling them. The simplest way to do so is to design a symbol or set of them used to become synonymous with their name. It is usually simple in design to ensure that it can be remembered by people who commonly see it.

COLLECTORS

Logos have an awfully broad appeal. Alongside its casual viewer, there are many that indulge in collecting designs that appeal to them, almost like an art curator. Some of these “logo curators” even have written and designed books showcasing these logos and/or how to make your own. Designers have even built their careers off of logo curating and design like David E. Carter and companies like Logo Design Inspiration. I suggest checking these people out along with their books if you ever plan on making your own logo in the future. Happy creating!
