CAPTURING YOUR DAY

What remains after the I do’s are said, the cake is cut, and the bouquet is tossed? It’s the many incredible memories found in your photo album and video. Your wedding photos and videography are something you will hold dear for decades to come. If your house is burning down, chances are your wedding photos and video would be one of the few things you will grab at a moment’s notice before dashing to safety. It’s safe to say, two of the most important decisions couples have to make are choosing a wedding photographer and videographer.
Your photo album and video are meaningful wedding keepsakes and they speak volumes about the atmosphere, style, and emotions of your wedding day. When researching photographers and videographers, crucial considerations include professional skills, style, and reviews.
You should choose your photography style before you even reach out to potential photographers. If you book first then learn about the style later you may end up with photos that don’t match your vision. Today’s most popular wedding photography styles of editing include dark and moody and light and airy. Dark and moody images tend to have a more emotional vibe with deep shadows, higher contrast, and more vibrant colors. Light and airy photos are more romantic and whimsical with muted colors and lighter tones.
Like your photographer, videographers take different approaches to their craft. There’s no doubt a professional wedding video is something you will cherish as you get to look back and see the live action you missed when you were busy greeting guests or dancing with your grandpa. You’ll have a record of your dance with your dad, your bouquet toss, and relive the emotions saying your vows. Before you begin shopping for a videographer, figure out which directional approach most appeals to you and how you want the video to feel. Many videographers have a variety of styles such as documentary which is closer to a raw documentary film, or cinematic which captures details from every angle with a Hollywood feel.
Most photographers and videographers can be booked up to a year in advance and some only shoot one wedding per weekend, so book as soon as possible to be sure that wedding is yours! STYLE IS KEY
"Remember that photographers are artists. Some are talented in many styles, however most lean towards a certain look.
It’s important not to try and mold your photographer into someone else’s work. They are unique and have there own style. It’s essential you enjoy their actual work, before hiring them. If you don’t like their style - you will be left disappointed in the long run.
Pick the photographer whose style you love! Thats who they are and how your wedding album will look. If you want a bright and airy look, pick a photographer who’s work represents that style. If you like a more moody, darker vibe. Again, go with the photographer who matches that look. Your photographer is an artist. They will require your trust to allow them to have creative freedom. By doing this, you are allowing the best possible wedding album to be created for your wedding day!"

PHOTOGRAPHY STYLES
A photographers style varies based on their approach (how they set up a shot) then how they edit that shot. Do they specialize in directed/ posed shots or candid photos? Do they edit their photos to be light and airy, true to color, or dark and moody or a mix of two styles? Below we are going to describe a few styles to help you learn what your favorite style of photography is!
Kayla Sellers Photography
LIGHT & AIRY: Bright, often pastel, with light highlights and almost no shadows. This style doesn’t typically mute colors and frequently have pinkish or yellow tones in the photos with bright greens. Skies will be blown out, and the photos have a whimsical, almost fairy tale like feeling to them.

TRUE TO COLOR: This is the most classic photography style. This style doesn’t rely on changing much in terms of tones, but instead processing to make sure light is balanced exactly as it was shot. Photos might be enhanced to make colors pop, but otherwise stay pretty true to straight out of camera.
Wild & Untamed Photography
DARK & MOODY: Muted, dark, shadowy photos. Typically greens are muted down or not there at all, colors may be muted across the board, and there might be a cool or warm temperature to the photo. Dark & moody photos often feel emotional & stoic.

BOLD & VIBRANT: This branches off of the true to color style. Colors are not made dark or bright, but rather vibrant and colorful. These photos will be saturated and more contrast-y than true to color.
