Complete Blood Count (CBC) is performed to measure the concentration of different kinds and numbers of cells in the blood such as red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. CBC test results provide information necessary diagnose various conditions, such as anemia, infection, and many other disorders. A dry hematology system, the QBC STAR centrifugal hematology system from QBC Diagnostics simplifies point-ofcare CBC testing.
QBC STAR - Multiple Benefits for In-office CBC Testing Nine clinically significant parameters are effectively measured by QBC STAR:
Platelet count White blood cell count Lymphocyte/monocyte count Lymphocyte/monocyte percentage Granulocyte count hematocrit Hemoglobin MCHC Granulocyte percentage The unique STAR system effectively blends sample collection and analysis. The STAR tube is specially designed to be flexible enough for both venous and capillary samples. This tube can be used for the sample collection as well as analysis, a feature not found in other hematology systems. After analysis, all the nine parameters appear on the LCD screen. Again, unlike hematology systems that use bulky liquid reagents, this in-office system utilizes dry reagent technology, eliminating the dangers of liquid biohazard wastes. The QBC STAR features simple on-button operation and fully automated CBC analysis. Even non-technical personnel can operate the device and generate accurate results

with minimal training. The system also virtually eliminates the need for user calibration and routine maintenance.
Specifications of QBC STAR Hematology Analyzer Dimensions: H 16.3"x W16"x D16.3" (41.4 cm x 40.6 cm x 41.4 cm) Weight: 30 lbs. (13.6 kg) Sample: Volume 70 μL Display: LCD Display Resolution: 160x160 Voltage:100-240 VAC ±10% Frequency:47-63 Hz Current: less than 4 amperes Power:185 watts nominal; 285 watts peak 293 BTU @ 3 tests per hour
Operating the QBC STAR The tube has to be filled with the sample up to the mark between the two lines. After the tube is capped, it has to be positioned in the rotor. When the start button is pressed, the results appear on the LCD screen. A printout can be taken for filing in the patient’s record.
