We’re proud to present another sterling line-up of authors, including Sophie Hannah, Ian Rankin, Kathy Reichs to name but a few. We’re representing the best of international crime writing, featuring authors from Germany, Iceland and Finland as well as the best Scottish crime writers. This year we are excited to announce some new and unique additions to the programme, in some atmospheric new venues. The Deanston Scottish Crime Book of the Year Award dinner will be taking place in Stirling’s newest luxury hotel – Hotel Colessio. Once again we invite you to dine with your favourite authors and be part of this exciting award that celebrates the best of crime writing in Scotland.
A unique staging of the trial of notorious serial killer Peter Manuel will take place in Stirling’s historic Sheriff Court – with an unusual twist – the audience are the jury. We’re delighted to announce that Stirling Castle is one of our new venues this year for a very special event. The castle’s chambers will play host to a historical crime scene from the castle’s bloody history. Will you be able to solve the medieval murder mystery? And of course the festival is taking place in the wake of another historic event – Scotland’s independence referendum – join us for a special debate in association with The Sunday Herald to discuss the outcome and what happens next for Scotland. We hope you’ll join us for these terrific experiences at what promises to be a fantastic weekend of crime writing – we look forward to seeing you there! Jenny Brown – Festival Chair

FOOTBALL MATCH
SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER // 1.30 –2.30PM // COWANE’S HOSPITAL // FREE EVENT
Join us for an entertaining hour as Bloody Scotland hosts the world’s first Scotland v England crime writers’ football match. Some of your favourite authors will be lining up in the dark blue and the lilywhite for a five-a-side match on the historic Cowane’s Hospital bowling green which lies, appropriately enough, next door to the old town jail. Some of the participants may need to be hospitalised or jailed by the time the game is over. The authors’ footballing skills may be pure murder but they are very good at dead ball situations and are experts at spotting a killer pass. This is a free event but promises to be priceless. Match squads will be announced closer to the time – not to be missed. Who will win? Bloody Scotland of course.
