Instructions 1. Lay 1 Pre cut 6” Backing strip on the table face down. 2. Select a Pre cut 6” front strip and lay onto the top of the backing strip. A-line with the edge of the Backing Fabric. 3. Sew a tacking stitch down the side of the two fabrics, Stitch length 4 + is good. -----------------------------------------------------------------------6” fabric facing up sitting on top of flannel -----------------------------------------------------------------------This is called a sandwich when completed
4. Now sew a ¼’ seam down the other side of the strip , This means that you will have to coloured fabrics on the top facing up and a flannel backing fabric on the bottom facing out as well. This is called a Sandwich. 5. Repeat for all 15 strips + 1 extra boarder strip. When finished you should have left 4 X boarder top Fabric and 4 x Flannel back fabric. 6. Join 2 Flannel strips together via the selvedge to create a long strip. And repeat for the other 2 flannel strips
and also the top fabric. Join together to make 2 long sandwiches.
7. Now you need to join all your sandwiches together. Place sandwich 1 and 2 together with flannel facing each other. 1 being your short Boarder fabric strip. 8. Sew a ¼’ seam inside your tacking seam to join 1 and 2 together with a 2.5 stitch length. 9. Sew a second row of stitching right over of the top of this just stitched line. ( this is for reinforcement. ) 10. Now join on Sandwich 3 the same way, and so on until all 16 strips are sewn together. Strip 16 should also be a Boarder strip. 11. Now trim the length of the quilt so it is even width all the way along. Now attach the long boarders the same way as we joined the sandwiches together. Sew a 2nd row for reinforcement. 12. Attach binding before shagging and brushing the quilt. 13. Optional sew lace around the edge of the quilt.
Each join should be about ½” in from the raw edges. This is the part that we clip and shag and then we brush it with a chenille brush to make it fluff up.
