History Ibanez

is a guitar brand owned by Hoshino Gakki and based in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Hoshino Gakki were one of the first Japanese musical instrument companies to gain a significant foothold in the United States and Europe. The Ibanez brand name dates back to 1929 when Hoshino Gakki began importing Salvador Ibáñez guitars from Spain. When the “Salvador Ibáñez” workshop was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, the “Ibanez Salvador” guitars were no longer available, so Hoshino Gakki bought the “Ibanez Salvador” brand name rights and started making Spanish

acoustic guitars in 1935 using the “Ibanez” brand name. By the mid-80´s with the interest in instrumental rock guitar on the rise, Ibanez collaborated with players such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Paul Gilbert producing several signature models. These models still considered the standard in hard rock and instrumental rock guitars in the present day. Aside from guitar productions, Ibanez is a company that also engineers and creates other musical equipment such as electric bass guitars, acoustic guitars, digital effects pedals and amplifiers. WHY? Graphic identity is the sum of all the visual impressions associated with the Ibanez name. The impact of any logo depends on consistent use resulting in a large number of impressions over a long period of time. Familiar logos are not “read” as words, but processed by the brain visually, evoking a complex set of associations much more powerful than words.

Please do not weaken or diffuse Ibanez’s identity. Use the materials and follow the standards described in this manual. The key elements of the Ibanez visual identity are: a. The logotype b. The colors c. The signature fonts

By using a shared Ibanez graphic identity system, we can all help build upon Ibanez’s reputation for upstanding excellence. We can increase the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our communications efforts as well. Graphic Standards Manual -

Logo Icon The Ibanez mark is the identifying symbol for official graphic communications. Its form cannot be altered, and it may be reproduced only in a designated Pantone single-color version for print. EPS and JPEG files of these two versions of the mark are available for download from this site. The EPS versions of the mark may be enlarged or reduced in size, but can only be used in the colors in which they are offered. The JPEG versions of the mark may not be enlarged, but may be reduced in size. The black JPEG version can be converted to an appropriate Pantone spot color (see colors / pg 13) when used in a pagination software like Quark XPress or PageMaker.

Software has made it very easy to alter graphics by applying filters and special effects, or simply by changing shapes and colors. Please resist the temptation. The impact of any logo depends on consistent use resulting in a large number of impressions over a long period of time. The best logos are not “read as words, but act as visual stimuli, automatically triggering a complex series of associations. Any changes to the shape and color of a logo reduce its impact and can, over time, defeat the entire purpose of a logo program. This page illustrates some of the more obvious ways a logo can be destroyed by incorrect use. Please avoid these and all other changes to the Ibanez logo.

Do not use the logotype against backgrounds which conflict with Ibanez logo colors, prevent good contrast or clear legibility. Generally these will include harsh or brightly colored, multicolored, textured, or various hued photographic backgrounds

PRIMARY Pantone CMYK Black cmyk 100-100-100-100 rgb 100-100-100 Web #000000

SECONDARY Pantone 806 C cmyk 0-100-0-0 rgb 255-0-153 Web #ff0099 Pantone 395 C cmyk 0-0-100-0 rgb 255-255-0 Web #ffff00
